Aug. 30, 2010 Well, this is interesting. CNN's Soledad O'Brien, who was last in New Jersey for a documentary focusing on the First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens and the Rev. Deforest B. Soaries, is back again. But this time. O'Brien is here to interview 6th District GOP challenger Anna Little and incumbent Rep. Frank Pallone. We thought Pallone was considered a safe Democrat seat. Or could that recent Little poll, which showed Little trailing Pallone by just six points, 40-34, turned some heads? That result (hat tip MoreMonmouthMusings) even got the race noticed by the Daily Kos website: NJ-06:...

HIGHLANDS – According to a poll released this week, Rep. Frank Pallone leads Republican challenger Anna Little by just six points. The poll, conducted by National Research Inc. for the Little for Congress campaign, shows Pallone at just 40 percent despite nearly 100 percent name recognition among voters in the district. Little had 34 percent in the poll. “The more people learn about Anna Little, the more they like her and can see her as the right alternative to the incumbent,” commented Little’s campaign chair, Leigh-Ann Bellew. “The voters already know about Frank Pallone and becoming increasingly uncomfortable with his...

Anna C. Little, Republican candidate for the House in New Jersey's 6th District, took sharp issue with statements made by Representative Frank Pallone (D-NJ-6) in his constituent newsletter about the effects of the healthcare-reform bill passed last March. In a press release dated July 15, Little accused Pallone of "lying to the people on their dime" in his latest edition of his newsletter, Constituent Update, which is sent to 6th District residents as "franked" mail, sent with the congressman's signature in lieu of a postage stamp and thereby mailed at taxpayer expense. The contents of Constituent Update do not appear...

I've never seen so many House seats in play in one party. I'm tracking four of the pundits who rate House races -- Cook, Rothenberg, Sabato and CQ. Between the four an incredible 103 Democratic seats are in play. I think they have missed maybe 3 to 5 seats, but they may list them sooner or later. 24 seats are very slightly to strongly leaning Republican. 16 are pure toss ups to very slightly tilting Democratic. 25 are leaning Democratic That means an incredible 65 seats are very seriously in play. Another 38 seats are rated likely Democratic but at...

As Anna C. Little and her volunteers canvass Middlesex Borough this morning, Little has taken a calculated risk by issuing a statement decrying the planned Cordoba House mosque and community center, to be (tentatively) located two blocks down from the destroyed World Trade Center. In a press release published at 2:16 p.m. (August 20), Little stated forthrightly that the building of any mosque that close to "Ground Zero" would be inappropriate, regardless of whether such a building would be legal or illegal. She further raised the question of the funding of the mosque, a question that the would-be worship leader...

Anna C. Little, Republican candidate for Congress in the 6th District, is closing in rapidly on her opponent, Democratic incumbent Frank Pallone, in a race that has now become a tossup, according to an internal poll. In a press release issued August 23, Little cited a poll conducted for the campaign by National Research, Inc., showing Pallone at 40 percent of the vote and Little at 34 percent. That would mean that 26 percent of respondents surveyed were undecided or declined to answer. To be within single digits of the lead with a double-digit undecided population a scant ten weeks...

"I refused to support the war in Iraq and I have consistantly voted against writing the President a blank check to conduct the war as he sees fit," Pallone said. "I would bring this same consistant progressive voice to the Senate."
-
Pallone said he was motivated to seek the Senate seat because of "philosophical" differences with the Republican-dominated Congress.

he New Jersey Supreme Court intervened today in the political wrangling over whether Democrats can name a replacement for Senator Robert G. Torricelli on the Nov. 5 ballot, saying that it will hear arguments in the case on Wednesday. Lawyers for the New Jersey State Democratic Party had filed a motion in Middlesex County Superior Court this morning in an attempt to remove Mr. Torricelli's name from the ballot and to appoint a replacement. But hours later, the Supreme Court issued an order saying it would hear the case directly instead of waiting for the lower court to act. A...
