Pallone said he was motivated to seek the Senate seat because of "philosophical" differences with the Republican-dominated Congress.

This kind of announcement is unusual, to say the least. Whether Corzine would appoint him is unclear.

I've heard that Pallone has some "McGreevey" issues if you know what I mean.

Really? Haven't heard that one.
I know that Pallone is Catholic and 100% pro-abortion and 100% pro-homosexual with the Human Rights Campaign.

You left out the percentage of Catholic that Pallone is. I submit that he is 0% Catholic.

I guess it would be keeping up with the queer nature of New Jersey politics.
Rim shot please... uh, Jim, Frankie, no, stay away from me...

Interesting . . . feel free to mail me privately. Sheesh, I consider myself quite the NJ political gossip junkie, but I hadn't heard that one. As for his declaration of intentions, I think it's part of a game to move him out of 3rd place in the unofficial Dem Senate primary. Right now, Menendez (w/ Hudson Co.) and Andrews (w/ S. Jersey and the threat of entering the gubernatorial race) both have more to offer Jon Boy. Pallone's got squat.

Pallone may be an ultra-lib but he's got a reputation of being very responsive to constituent requests for assistance with government casework. People love him for that.

If you ever get a chance to see him speak on the floor of the House on C-Span, you'll know what Clemenza is talking about...
Whenever I see him on C-Span, it sets off pings on my gay-dar.

Aren't all congressman. the votes are in the constituency.Congressmen differ on exactly how capable their staff are in assisting their constituents. Pallone's staff is top-notch.

Still, NJ being NJ, I would imagine that this state will have all Democrats in top offices for many years to come. People there "believe" in democracy.
Trivia: who is the only NJ-born person to become President. (Isn't it Grover Cleveland? Wilson was of course born in VA.)
To: AM2000
I had read that the late Strom Thurmond, R-SC, was also especially known for constituent services, as was former Sen. "Pothole" D'Amato, the last R-NY we may ever see.
To: BroncosFan
On the Republican side, the names I've heard are Congressman Frank LoBiondo, state Senator Diane Allen, and state Senator William Gormley. Of course, if LoBiondo does run, look for Gormley to seek LoBiondo's House seat.

I have heard rumblings about Pallone's McGreevey issues before. I never wanted to believe it but it may be worth looking into. Anyway a long time ago in what was my Congressional District we had a really cool Congressman by the name of Jim Courter. Then for some reason the District was gerrymandered and we ended up with Frank Pallone as our Congressman. My question was do you remember this? My other question is did this come on Tom Kean's watch? I got to know the answer to this.

To the best of my knowledge, Jim Courter ran agaist Jim Florio in November of 1989 while Tom Kean was still the Governor.
