DONALD J. TRUMP has made a shrewd bet. For the first time since he descended an escalator in Trump Tower last June to announce that this time, he really was running for president, he ceded control of his campaign message. He handed the Trump-bedecked podium over to Sarah Palin. Mr. Trump’s bet: When the politician most fluent in American rage roars, the movement she gave voice to in the fall of 2008 will roar back today.

Sarah Palin’s public performances continue to be distinctive. Her endorsement of Donald Trump was less speech than podium jazz scat, with some early Elvis thrown in. “Trump’s candidacy, it has exposed not just that tragic, the ramifications of that betrayal of a transformation of our country, but too, he has exposed the complicity on both sides of the aisle that has enabled it, okay?†Essentially: Bee-bop-a-lula he’s my baby. She was scattered, rambly; at moments she foraged through her notes in a way that was almost endearing, looking for lines that would connect and explode. But it’s not as interesting as it used to be because it’s not new.

The big news this week wasn't that Bernie Sanders has opened up a 27-point lead over Hillary Clinton in New Hampshire. The big news was that Sarah Palin endorsed Donald Trump. Sarah Palin? Yes. That Sarah Palin. I was at CNN watching her remarks at an event in Ames, Iowa and it seemed to me that (a) the woman who, in 2008, was the perky, intelligent, and exuberant Governor of Alaska who had been tapped by the campaign of John McCain to be his vice-presidential running mate. In 2016, she is a depressing combination of Sunset Boulevard's Norma Desmond and...

I am sure there are a great many conservatives who were deeply disappointed with Sarah Palin’s endorsement of Donald Trump Tuesday. It was hard on the ears and harder on the heart. If anything, Sarah Palin and Donald Trump made Sen. Ted Cruz look more presidential...

Let' just call her tasteless. Real tasteless. And classless. Very classless. She showed that in spades this week, when she blamed President Obama for her son Track's recent domestic violence arrest. Track spent a year in Iraq with the Army, and Palin says his problems with domestic violence exemplify what happens to soldiers who come back home with PTSD. And who does she blame for this? Yep, Obama. "My son, like so many others, they come back a bit different, they come back hardened," Palin said at a rally where she was supporting Donald Trump. She went on to whine...

With 13 days until the Iowa caucuses, Donald J. Trump and Ted Cruz, the senator from Texas, are deploying different surrogates but similar playbooks in the state, where the Republican electorate is conservative and where each is trying hard to win. Mr. Trump's closing argument began on Tuesday night with the endorsement of Sarah Palin, the Republican vice-presidential nominee in 2008, who built a grass-roots following from the ashes of defeat that year. Mrs. Palin could be a significant help to Mr. Trump, certainly in terms of news media attention. But much of the coverage of her endorsement speech was...

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: Man, are we loaded today. I'll tell you right now, it's going to take all three hours and then some. I'm gonna try to get it all in here in three hours. Much of today is gonna build on points that I have been making the past two days, evolving, growing, adding evidence to it, all rooted around the question, who is and what is the conservative movement, and why is it apparently behaving so oddly? I think I can explain this and much else to all of you as the program unfolds today before your very...

Donald Trump said he doesn't think Sarah Palin would be interested in becoming his running mate and trying for a second time to become vice president. "I don't think she'd want to do it," Trump said, although he added that he isn't thinking that far ahead. Appearing on NBC's "Today" show on Wednesday morning after Palin's high-profile endorsement of his White House bid, Trump deflected repeated questions about the 2008 vice presidential candidate as a potential 2016 running mate. Palin has not raised the matter with the GOP frontrunner. "As far as Sarah is concerned, never asked me about that,...

... But at least now we know how we got here. Trump is the price we’re paying for Palin and Coulter and for every other media celebrity on the Right who made a career out of being “outrageous†rather than being ideological coherent. This is what we get for putting personality over ideology. The first commandment of the Right should be, “Place not thy faith in politicians.†The second commandment should be, “Place not thy faith in media celebrities.â€...

A day after endorsing Donald Trump, Sarah Palin failed to appear as expected at a campaign rally for the GOP frontrunner Wednesday morning. Trump supporters in Norwalk, Iowa, had been advised on Tuesday that Trump would appear "with a very special guest" in the wake of the high-profile endorsement by the former Alaska governor.

Today we saw someone who was once a rising star in the conservative world explode in an inglorious display of crass opportunism. Sarah Palin, that darling of a failed John McCain presidential bid, has resurfaced to throw her voice and her support behind the gilded toad of the GOP, Donald Trump. Where she was once a strong Tea Party leader, promoting free market ideas, limited government, and power back in the hands of the people, today she forsook it all, in favor of a big government, foul mouthed, Wall Street liberal with atrocious hair. Far too often, we see that...

The first thing a great many people, politicos, and non-politicos alike, said in private conversations when they heard the news that Sarah Palin would endorse Donald Trump is, "What did he pay her?" That may be an unfair question, but it's perfectly fair to put it this way: "What has Donald Trump done for Sarah Palin?" Meaning, what has Trump done to promote the values that Palin's supporters have been advocating for the past eight years? For starters, look at the three major issues that gave rise to and have animated the Tea Party since 2008 when then-Governor Palin burst...

Last night, Sarah Palin, Donald Trump’s “very special guest,†endorsed him at Iowa State University. Of course, a lot of people are shocked that she would endorse him over Ted Cruz. She’s the Tea Party darling after all, standing for conservative values from supporting gun rights to defunding Obamacare. Cruz communications director Rick Tyler said earlier Tuesday that the campaign would be very disappointed if Palin supported Trump because she:...has been a champion of the conservative cause and if she was going to endorse Donald Trump, sadly she would be endorsing someone who's held progressive views all their life on...

AMES, Iowa -- In September, when Donald Trump appeared before a giant rally in Dallas, a person in the Trump circle described the coming months of the campaign. Sure, a big event like Dallas got headlines, but Trump knew he couldn't do the same rally, rally, rally for the next several months and expect the public to remain interested. Even then, TrumpWorld was planning a varied (and secret) schedule of special events, bold policy rollouts, and other attention-getting gestures to keep the voters' and the media's attention over the course of a long campaign. Tuesday night in Ames was a...

Where have you gone, Sarah Palin? The woman who just endorsed Donald Trump is not the rogue conservative I knew in 2008 Back in December, I was at a small event in a Las Vegas bar; CNN's Jake Tapper was interviewing Sarah Palin. He asked which candidate she'd most like to grab a beer with. Her answer? Donald Trump.Trump, of course, has been sober his whole life. But the moment perfectly encapsulates the Palin-Trump romance. Because in addition to endorsing a beer run with a man who doesn't drink, she also just endorsed for the presidency a man who is...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPx0OOIM6W0Surprisingly good. Sarah Palin rallies the troops without a teleprompter. For Palin's 10 minute speech slide in near the end of the youtube video

I just finished watching Sarah Palin's endorsement of Donald Trump and I have some observations.Sarah Palin is a rhetorical genius. Like her or not, she's really good at political rhetoric. And, I hope Trump is PAYING her, she's worth $5mil a month during the primaries so hopefully he'll be paying her at least $3mil/month. This endorsement matters. She bring more "blue collar" credibility and conservative "good enough" to put all other GOP challengers back on their heels looking for life support. This endorsement likely is the death knell for the Cruz campaign. I think it now means Trump will win Iowa,...

Sarah Palin's 26-year-old son Track was thrown in jail after cops say he drunkenly assaulted a woman while packin' heat. According to the Wasilla P.D., officers responded to a home Monday night after getting a 911 domestic violence call. It's unclear exactly what went down, but cops say Palin was drunk and had a firearm. They say he also interfered with the victim's ability to report the crime. Track was booked for assault, interfering with a domestic violence report and misconduct involving weapons. Story developing ...

Sarah Palin, the former Alaska governor and 2008 vice-presidential nominee who became a Tea Party sensation and a favorite of grass-roots conservatives, will endorse Donald J. Trump in Iowa on Tuesday, officials with his campaign confirmed. The endorsement provides Mr. Trump with a potentially significant boost just 13 days before the state’s caucuses. “I’m proud to endorse Donald J. Trump for president,†Ms. Palin said in a statement provided by his campaign.
