President Barack Obama on Saturday intervened to end a transit strike in the greater Philadelphia area, establishing an emergency board to force the two sides to negotiate. The move, at the behest of Republican Governor Tom Corbett, came hours after about 440 engineers and electricians who operate trains that connect Philadelphia and its suburbs walked off the job. “That’s it. The strike is over," said Arthur Davidson, spokesman for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, one of the two unions on strike.

J. Whyatt Mondesire, the embattled former president of the local and state NAACP, is facing new accusations that he misspent state money. Mondesire’s nonprofit, Next Generation CDC, claimed to have improved the home field for the North Philly Aztecs with a state grant. WILMINGTON, Del. - (AP) -- Highway engineers say a crucial bridge on the Eastern Seaboard's interstate highway system could imperil drivers if traffic is allowed back on it. EASTON, Pa. - A resolution passed by Easton City Council is not sitting well with Northampton County John Morganelli, who said giving illegal immigrants driver licenses could open the door for terrorists. A survey from the Bureau of Labor Statistics found that the average income for families of all sorts decreased from 2012 to 2013 by $103 to $65,069 before taxes, but their expenses went up by $777 a year to $51,408. ...
