A cross discovered by an amateur Danish archaeologist may "change history" according to an expert, who believes the cross may date from before Christianity is thought to have reached Denmark. An amateur archaeologist on the island of Funen made a startling discovery last week – a necklace resembling Jesus on the cross. But after posting a picture of the discovery on Facebook, Dennis Fabricius Holm quickly found that the item may have a lot more significance than he had initially thought. “I finished work early last Friday, so I decided to spend a couple of hours searching with my metal...

David Thompson, a retired engineer from Kalamazoo, Michigan, is being treated for dehydration and expects to be hospitalized for at least four daysDavid Thompson felt the smack of a wave and found himself hanging by a tether off the back of his sailboat in the Atlantic Ocean, the northern coast of Puerto Rico off in the distance. No problem, Thompson thought. He was still tied to his boat, wearing his life jacket. All he had to do was hoist himself back onto his boat. But conditions were rough: 20-knot winds and 10-foot swells. As he climbed back on board, another...

“The adventure began when we left the driveway,” says Larry Shank. “And that’s what was neat about the Jeep and the teardrop; you became part of the country from day one.” Shank is the proud custodian of this 1953 Willys Jeep CJ-3B and 1947 Ken-Skill Kustom Kamper Model 10, both bought by his father in period and used during their entire lives by his family for exploring the U.S. while on vacation. Traveling off the beaten path may seem extreme, but he has a different perspective: “You arrive not exhausted but exhilarated; because you’re already there, you’re already on vacation…”...

Ruger is a bad dog, and that’s why he does his job so well. Just ask Megan Parker, the director of research at Working Dogs for Conservation in Montana. When Parker scours animal shelters for her next dog-in-training, she looks for unadoptable, hard-to-handle dogs. Ruger was born on the Blackfeet Reservation in Montana. His owner shot his littermates, and Ruger escaped. He was taken to a nearby animal shelter where he was found by a dog trainer who alerted Meg’s organization. It was Ruger’s drive that convince Parker to keep training him. She eventually paired Ruger with the scouts of...

It's every driver in southern Africa's nightmare: Open up your car bonnet and find a huge python curled up inside. Footage recently uploaded to YouTube appears to show a driver in Zimbabwe doing just that. The man - who isn't named - walks cautiously round to the front of a Zimbabwe-registered truck on a dirt track and finds the creature coiled on top of the engine. He grabs the snake near its head and, with help from another man, extricates it from the engine and drops it in the thick grass by the side of the road. The snake is...

Italian mountaineer conquers Nanga Parbat but 10 minutes was all he could allow himself to enjoy his achievement Simone Moro stood atop Pakistan's "Killer Mountain" last week and observed the curve of the Earth -- a view which had never been seen by anyone in winter until the climber and his team conquered Nanga Parbat. The expedition had taken three months and came more than six decades after the mountain was first summited, but 10 minutes was all Moro could allow himself to enjoy his achievement. Experts probing the discovery of 13 hand prints in the eerie Egyptian Cave of Beasts say the 8000-year-old stencils did not belong to humans Anthropologists probing the discovery of tiny 8000-year-old hand prints in an Egyptian cave say they were not made by human hands. But a study of the 13 tiny hand prints show that not only are they not human - but that they are believed to belong...

On a recent cold night, I decided to wash some dishes. My wife and I live in a little dry cabin up near Hatcher Pass, which is to say we don’t have running water. So I put a big pot on the propane stove to heat, rousted the dogs and took the 5-gallon bucket of dirty dishwater from under the sink to go dump it in the outhouse.

If you wonder why you have been hearing and reading endless doomsday scenarios about the warming of the Earth, the rise of the seas, and the disappearance of species and forests for decades, the reason is that a huge propaganda machine is financed at levels that are mind boggling. It is doubtful that most Americans and others around the world know how vast the organizational structure of the environmental movement is and how much wealth it generates for those engaged in an agenda that would drag humanity back to the Stone Age reports Alan Caruba. (1) More than 26,500 American...

LONDON — A plane was taken out of service by British Airways after bed bugs were found on board. The airline says two of the parasitic insects, which feed on people's blood, were found. "Whenever any report of bed bugs is received, we launch a thorough investigation and, if appropriate, remove the aircraft from service and use specialist teams to treat it — this happened in this instance," a spokeswoman for the airline told Mashable.
