A federal judge Tuesday directed prosecutors to lay out their case in writing to support their argument that California resident Gary Hunt knowingly violated a court protective order by posting the names of informants who helped the FBI..... Oregon may soon become the first U.S. state to allow residents to identify as "nonbinary," neither male nor female, on their driver licenses and identification cards. Transgender Oregonians say the change would validate their identities and make them safer as they hand over their licenses at restaurants, health clinics and airports. Oregon Department of Motor Vehicles officials say they have had no opposition to the change, which they first announced plans to carry out last summer.

Oregon’s Democratic lawmakers came up with the most detailed plan yet on Thursday for fixing the state’s wobbly budget by tapping business coffers. House Speaker Tina Kotek would place a 0.95 percent tax on annual business sales in excess of $5 million. About 5,000 businesses would pay the new tax. The Democrats’ gross receipts tax proposal would replace the existing corporate income tax, which produces about $1 billion in revenues a year. The new tax would take effect Jan. 1, 2018. Ammon Bundy's lawyer Marcus Mumford called a judge's push to revoke his ability to practice law in federal court in Oregon a "serious and stigmatizing" sanction and unwarranted. What began as a peaceful march for labor rights on May Day in Portland turned violent as a group of self-described anarchists threw objects at officers and officers fired non-lethal weapons back. Portland Police officers dressed in riot gear patrolled the march, and worked to keep the opposing groups on opposite sides of the street despite several cases of "intermingling." Officers said they saw demonstrators with guns, improvised weapons, and defensive gear in the area, but no violence was reported. Police did, however, arrest one person wearing a pumpkin outfit for disorderly conduct. The person was later identified as a man named Luis Marquez. An Oregon man has been fined $500 by the state government for suggesting that yellow traffic lights should last slightly longer. Oregon police were hunting an ex-con Mexican national accused of sexually assaulting a 9-year-old Portland girl while her younger sister slept just a few feet away. Previously-deported Santiago Martinez-Flores, 48, has a decades old criminal history and already served time for assault, criminal mischief, unauthorized use of a vehicle and failure to perform the duties of a driver.
