Oklahoma police are investigating after a student was apparently attacked inside a bathroom at his high school in Edmond last week in a beating that was captured on cellphone video. The incident occurred on Oct. 4 inside the restroom at Edmond Memorial High School, KTLA sister station KFOR in Oklahoma City reported Tuesday. The victim was punched several times without fighting back, and now his parents are pressing charges, according to investigators. “One of the students with special needs was being repeatedly punched in one of the bathrooms that day,” Jennifer Wagnon, with the Edmond Police Department, told KFOR.

It's football night in Marietta and, if you look closely among the cheerleaders on the field, you'll see a young girl with distinctive purple close-cropped hair. She and the other cheerleaders are enthusiastic as they belt out a cheer, "Let's fight, let's fight!" It's an appropriate chant for 11-year old Emma Barrientos, who is personally in the middle of a fight against high-risk leukemia. She is thrilled to be well enough to be back on the football field with her friends, and her parents are smiling and watching her from the stands. Earlier this week, she was back at Jimmy...

A deaf man has been shot and killed by Oklahoma City police officers as he approached them holding a metal pipe. The two officers did not hear neighbours shouting "he can't hear you", before opening fire, police captain Bo Mathews said. Magdiel Sanchez, 35, was fatally shot on Tuesday evening as police were investigating a hit and run. The shooting is being investigated by city homicide detectives to determine if it was legally justified. "In those situations, very volatile situations, you have a weapon out, you can get what they call tunnel vision," Cpt Mathews said, adding that Sanchez was...

The monument with a confederate soldier looking out over the town has stood for 100 years in front of the Bryan County Courthouse. As monuments like it are coming under fire around the country, it is finding help from an unlikely ally. “I’m trying to at least hold on and to claim the history and the heritage that is mine, not just white folk. But, that heritage belongs to me, too,” said Arlene Barnum. If you see Barnum, you might do a double take. She’s a black woman wearing a confederate flag on a necklace. “I’ve been run off the...

On Saturday, 19 August, 2017, the Wagoner County, Oklahoma, Sheriff auctioned off 300 firearms, a number of vehicles, and other items that have been taking up space in their property room. You can view images of the vehicles and the gun on line at the rockinmauction.com website.A list of the available firearms is available here, but the information is not completely accurate.  For example, the make of an RG10 pistol is listed as “Bohm”, a simple misreading of Rohm. There are numerous plain Jane hunting rifles and shotguns, some more desirable than others. The list shows 15 Marlin .22...

It’s wrong to pre-judge a human being based on their racial characteristics. Beyond that, it’s stupid. Any marginally intelligent person knows this. A Christian, certainly, has no excuse for treating someone badly simply because they are of a different racial category. For a Catholic, it's a sin to do so. At the same time, as we watch political agitators wantonly destroying symbols of our country’s history in vigilante mobs, one can not help but be struck by their profound ignorance of said history. For these simpletons, the Confederacy equals racism, and everything having to do with it equals racism, and...

A measure to ban the Ku Klux Klan in Oklahoma has been launched through an online petition. The petition, powered through the Aavaaz website, was created by a person only identified as "Nikolas T." and posted on Sunday. On the petition itself, the creator writes "The Ku Klux Klan is a hate group and should be labeled as such. The Black Panther Party actually provided practical and useful help for their community, yet they were labeled a hate group and systematically dismantled by the CIA and FBI. The KKK has and will always be a hate group and still exists...

Authorities say an Oklahoma man hated the federal government and wanted to create a revolution by blowing up a building in downtown Oklahoma City. According to a criminal complaint, the FBI arrested 23-year-old Jerry Drake Varnell on Aug. 12 after he allegedly attempted to detonate what he believed to be an explosives-laden van in an alley next to BancFirst in downtown Oklahoma City. "He wanted to make the biggest impact wherever he was going to place his bomb. And, in his mind, this would have been the biggest impact in Oklahoma," said Raul Bujanda, the assistant special agent in charge...

  • Indians, casinos, and decent folk?

I'm in Oklahoma and we have casinos everywhere. It seems. But a tribe has surreptitiously acquired a small piece of property in my particular town and built facilities for a restaurant. Now it's been revealed they intend to start a casino, and our councilmen say there's nothing they can do. Even though gambling is illegal in my town, these people are protected by the federal government to open up one of their filthy, prefabricated, typically "native American" dumps? They say they are, and they say as long as they comply with the feds, they can do whatever they want. I'm...

Born on Monday, July 10, at the Philadelphia Zoo, the female Amur tiger cub was the only survivor in her litter of five; two of her siblings were stillborn, one died from an injury sustained by its mother and another suffered from a critical gastrointestinal issue. Despite being a tiny miracle, Zoya was rejected by her mother, 10-year-old Koosaka — a behavior somewhat typical of first-time tiger moms. So the Philadelphia Zoo’s animal care team jumped in to raise her, bottle feeding her and keeping watch around the clock. However, something was missing — namely, peers. “With this single cub,...

The point of this note is to demonstrate the irresponsibility of the media and the hypocrisy of muslims and muslim organizations. After the Murray building bombing, the media in their normal irresponsible fashion put out stories without substantiation that "Middle Eastern" groups may be have been responsible for the bombing. As a result, individuals went after muslims in this country. The muslims understandbly complained: In the case of the Oklahoma City Bombing, Hamzi Moghrabi, chairman of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, blamed the media for the attacks on Muslims and Arabs that took place just days after the bombing. Now, the media...
