Ronnie Corbett, a diminutive British comedian with an outsized personality, exquisite timing and a heart of gold, died Thursday at the age of 85. He had spent decades on TV and was one of the country's best-loved entertainers.

Oscar-winning actress Patty Duke, who hit the trifecta of stardom with her turns on TV, in the movies, and on Broadway, is dead. Duke, who was 69, died due to sepsis from a ruptured intestine, her managers said. "I love you Mom," one of her actor sons, Sean Astin, said in a statement confirming his mother's death. The Queens-born daughter of a troubled cashier and alcoholic cab driver, Duke overcame a dark childhood to become one of the Hollywood's most respected actresses and president of the Screen Actors Guild from 1985 to 1988.

James Noble, the actor best known for his role as the absent-minded governor on the hit 1980s sitcom “Benson,” died on Monday at Norwalk Hospital in Connecticut. He was 94. His death was confirmed by Douglas Moser, a spokesman for the family, who said that Mr. Noble, who lived in Norwalk, had a stroke last week. From 1979 to 1986, Mr. Noble played Eugene Gatling, the well-meaning but somewhat bumbling governor of an unnamed state, on the ABC series “Benson.”

Earl Hamner Jr. who created the long-running CBS series The Waltons died on Thursday aged 92 in Los Angeles. The Virginia native died in his sleep at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after a battle with cancer, according to a posting by his family on Facebook. Hamner married wife Jane in October 1954 in New York City and they had a son Scott and daughter Caroline together.
