An illegal immigrant from Mexico is being held in the Van Buren County Jail for allegedly kidnapping a 13-year-old Florida girl and sexually assaulting her at a home in Hartford. 23-year-old Aurelio Hernandez-Gomez was arraigned over the weekend, and also faces extradition to Florida on the kidnapping charge. The teen will soon be reunited with her family in Florida according to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department. She was reported missing on July 7 from Polk County. She was recovered at the same home where police arrested Hernandez-Gomez in the 66-thousand block of 48th Avenue. Child Protective Services took...

Ruling pending after immigration hearing for Cinthya Garcia-Cisneros, convicted in Forest Grove fatal crash A decision remains to be made in immigration court for Cinthya Garcia-Cisneros, the driver convicted of felony hit-and-run in the Oct. 20 crash that killed two young Forest Grove stepsisters. Garcia-Cisneros, 19, attended a bond hearing Wednesday morning, March 5 at the Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma. The ruling will determine whether she must remain in custody while her immigration case is pending. She was sentenced in January to three years of probation and 250 hours of community service. At Garcia-Cisneros' sentencing, immigration attorney Courtney Carter...

The start of Cinthya Garcia-Cisneros’ trial Thursday highlighted the questions jurors will likely consider after they’ve heard the evidence. Garcia-Cisneros, 19, is accused of felony hit and run in the Forest Grove crash that killed two young stepsisters, Anna Dieter-Eckerdt, 6, and Abigail Robinson, 11. Both sides agree that the teen drove through a large leaf pile, Oct. 20, where the two girls had been playing. Garcia-Cisneros and her passengers -- her boyfriend and brother -- felt a bump as the Nissan Pathfinder ran over the heap. The prosecution and defense agree that Garcia-Cisneros learned not long after she arrived...

A man police say is responsible for a deadly hit-and-run that killed a teen and a toddler pleads not guilty to all charges and rejects a plea deal that could have had him spending 120 days in jail. Instead, 18-year-old Uriel Flores will take his chances with a jury trial, claiming he did not cause or run away from the accident on Sharon Road West in September that killed 19-year-old Shaquise Sharvelle Bush and a 3-year-old boy in her car. A traffic camera photo caught Flores turning a corner in his white Chevy Silverado truck next to Bush's Mercury. The...

NAPLES, FL - A Collier County man was arrested for allegedly molesting an 11-year-old girl. According to reports, a school counselor reported an 11-year-old girl had been sexually abused. The victim said she had moved to Naples from Honduras about nine months ago. She told deputies Cecilio Rivera-Lozano, 24, had been sexually abusing her almost every day for the past eight months beginning in March. On Wednesday, the victim told a neighbor Rivera-Lozano had been forcing sex acts upon her. The neighbor reported the allegations to the victim's mother and school counselor. Detectives interviewed Rivera-Lozano on Friday and eventually arrested...

In July, the Montana State University police arrested Clemente Garcia Arciga, 33, after he reportedly raped a teenage girl multiple times over a three month period. In September 2012, the Bozeman Daily Chronicle ran a glowing story on Arciga for a four-day series of articles, entitled "The Immigrants Among Us," which basically praised those who have entered the country illegally, detailing their "struggles" along the way. His father was killed in a gunfight, and he crossed the border with his mother when he was 11, initially settling in the San Francisco Bay area, according to Arciga. Mediatrackers reported: “...staff writer...

On August 8, Dallas County Judge Dominique Collins sentenced Osvaldo Cerda, 19, to 20 years in prison for killing a 24-year-old nursing student in an alcohol-fueled crash last year. Judge Collins addressed Cerda, saying: "All I've seen you do all day is scan my face to see what you can do to get out of this. You've sat here and asked for mercy, but you're not getting out of this one." A day earlier, Cerda pleaded guilty to intoxication manslaughter. On Sept. 21, 2012, Heather VanHoozer was on the way to the grocery store in a car driven by her...

On Wednesday, prosecutors told a Broward County courtroom that Gerard Lopes Belmonte's disturbing motive for killing his adoptive mother two years ago, was to cover up the fact that he had just raped her. DNA tests showed Lopes' semen was found inside his 43-year-old mother's body, said Assistant State Attorney Adriana Alcalde. On July 20, 2011, the badly beaten body of Natalie Belmonte was found in a marsh near the Pembroke Pines home she shared with her son. Lopes reported his mother missing three days earlier. However, the night before Belmonte's disappearance, video footage from a neighbor’s security camera shows...
