A man police say is responsible for a deadly hit-and-run that killed a teen and a toddler pleads not guilty to all charges and rejects a plea deal that could have had him spending 120 days in jail. Instead, 18-year-old Uriel Flores will take his chances with a jury trial, claiming he did not cause or run away from the accident on Sharon Road West in September that killed 19-year-old Shaquise Sharvelle Bush and a 3-year-old boy in her car. A traffic camera photo caught Flores turning a corner in his white Chevy Silverado truck next to Bush's Mercury. The fatal crash happened moments after that picture was taken. Flores' family says he had nothing to do with the crash, and that his truck was ahead of Bush's car and never touched her car. Shanquise Ayana Wilson Police say it was the manner Flores was driving that caused the crash. They also say he called 911 to report the crash but never stopped to state his involvement.

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -
Highlights.."For me it's hard seeing my brother in chains," said Adilene Flores, "It's hard seeing him with handcuffs on. It's hard to see him like this because my brother is not a bad person."Another dreamer supporter "It's devastating. It gets you mad that you know they are just trying to blame someone," said Rafael Abundio.
Key details...Tuquory Bush after the bond hearing was visibly upset. He lost his sister and his son in that crash. He said it doesn't matter if Flores supporters said he is a good person, Bush said a good person doesn't run a family off the road and leave the scene.

Bush said a good person doesn't run a family off the road and leave the scene. That all but says guilty and explains why One thing the family doesn't want to do is post Flores' $50,000 bond.Prior to the wreck he was granted a two-year legal immigration status. If Flores bonds out it could jeopardizes his status and could mean deportation....All this family cares about is his immagrtion status and seeing to it - blame everyone but him.If they believe he is innocent bail him out, if they believe in him so much
Shaquese Sharvelle.....Oh Boy. I’m trying not to jump to conclusions about race, economic status, employment prospects, education, skill sets. I keep in mind that unfortunate names and backgrounds can be overcome.
Yeah, it’ll be real interesting to see if she can “overcome” her current status...deceased.
So much compassion for the dead woman and child’s family...based solely on a name.
Prayers and condolences to the families who lost loved ones.
A noose for the perp...and the judge who granted the immigration stay.
That is the truck and the car that was wrecked. A 19 photo spread here

It may be that he drove recklessly, and too close for comfort, and caused other driver to leave the road and crash. This requires direct evidence, however. You cannot just grab a driver and accuse him of such a thing.
Since the truck driver refused the plea deal, it's likely that he is either not guilty at all, or is guilty but knows that there is no evidence against him. Considering that new evidence may be discovered (and therefore it's risky to play with fire,) I would guess that the truck driver is not guilty. There are many reasons why a young mother with a child in the car could be briefly distracted without anyone else's help.
The driver of the red car appears to be in the LH turn lane. Where did the truck come from unless he was behind her and is passing on the inside?
Or was she in the RH side of the turn lane and moved into the LH lane?
It looked to me that she was in the RH lane he was in the left hand lane. Maybe he pulled in front of her? It appears she went off the right hand side. I wonder though how fast was she going? She really trashed that car. If he hit her there should be some major damage to the truck.
My take exactly........ But don’t know the answer. It is possible they both were in
the inside lane and the truck took a much sharper turn and the car followed the broken
white lines and was gaining on the truck. If so we don’t if the truck was slowing down
or she was speeding up.
In some parts of Mexico...a “Good person”is someone who hasnt killed many people...yet.
I know a few who grew up in the slums of Mexico city.....rape,beatings,murder,corruption,stabbings,theft,theyve seen all this stuff up close...before age 20.
I know refuges from ....well everywhere .
I wish there was some way to convey the stories Ive heard to the general population....so at least Americans would ..have some idea of what the rest of the world is like...we here are not Prepared ....not at all.
The people I know...some of them...they TREASURE a few hours calm with family...with no fighting or shooting or pain...They dont need much money. They dont need to be entertained.PEACE is their happiness.
oh well
No damage to the truck according to this.
Police say a truck driven by Uriel Flores and a car driven by the victim, 19-year-old
Shanquise Bush, never made contact prior to Bush striking a utility pole.
She’s dead — as is her nephew.
Her name is no threat to you now.
If they were both in the same lane to begin with and he was passing on the inside, I could see where he scared her into the RH lane and into the pole. She wouldn’t have been expecting that and she probably swerved over to avoid a collision when she noticed him.
I consider myself a good driver, but I’ve had my share of getting spooked into another lane because of some idiot. I’m here but for the grace of God after a couple of them...
If she crossed over into his lane, then I would be looking for a sharper trajectory in her car, but it doesn’t appear that way...
The witnesses/drivers behind them should be able to shed some light as to who was where right before that picture was taken.
Looks as though the driver of the white truck might be impaired or distracted — in order for it to end up where it is in this picture
Normally, a car turning left doesn't travel at a high rate of speed, at least usually not enough to cause a fatal crash. It's possible the truck was behind the car at the light and zoomed out in front of it to get ahead of it, possibly even to pretend to ram it (road rage).
I was raised in Panama, the Canal Zone, I know of which you speak.
However, when Americans went into Panama proper, we were subject to and expected to obey their laws.
I have no use for “immigrants” who come to this country and don’t assimilate into the American way of life. None.
Especially those who insist on behaving the same way as where they came from...crappy driving.
I know all too well that the horn or the size of an automobile in most Central American countries is what determines who has the right of way.
Police: Speeding competition or fooling around led to fatal crash
Uriel Flores, who has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and felony hit and run, claims his truck never hit the other car.
Police say there doesn’t have to be contact in order to be a hit and run.
The crash was so horrific - several people called 9-1-1 - including a woman who found the baby that was in the car that slammed into the utility pole.
Witnesses described the moments just before the collision.
“There was a white truck in front of me. We were in the far left lane and all of a sudden he just started speeding,” said eyewitness Melanie Sims.
Late Wednesday, police released a picture taken from a traffic camera at the corner of Sharon Road West and Hopeton Road. It showed the white truck and Mercury Sable side by side.
Police say Flores was driving the truck.
Flores turned himself into authorities and was charged with involuntary manslaughter and felony hit and run.
On Tuesday, he was given an additional involuntary manslaughter charge in the death of Jayden Bush.
In a telephone interview with the Spanish speaking newspaper Que Pasa Mi Gente Flores says “he’s innocent, that he didn’t do anything.”
Flores’ mother told the paper her son says he heard an impact, looked in the mirror and a saw a cloud of smoke. She says according to Flores, he braked and called police. The woman says her son’s vehicle is intact and doesn’t have a scratch.
Police tell WBTV they informed Flores that just because he didn’t make contact - doesn’t mean he’s not responsible.

This means that the truck was coming from the leftmost lane, and it made the correct turn (closer to the center divider.) Where did the red car come from?
One possibility is that it came from behind the white truck, from the leftmost lane, and accelerated to pass the truck. Note that the truck was already in the optimal path; and it had to make a sharper left turn. A vehicle with a higher center of mass, like a truck, had to move slower. The red car is fuzzier in the picture - is it possible that it was moving really fast? If so, it could lose traction because the turn there is something like 120°. If the red car's driver was unfamiliar with the turn, she'd be amazed seeing that she is driving off the road all on her own.
I don't think that the white truck could have come from behind the red car and accelerated past it. Can that truck even do that, and take that turn at some serious speed, far higher than the usual 20 mph or so, from a stop?
I guess the driver of the white truck *could* drive the red car off the road by just careless changing of lanes, but it's not in the photo. Per the CCTV, the white truck was exactly in the left lane of Sharon Rd W, and the red car was about to drive over the lane divider (with ability to turn into either lane, which was safe in this case.) If the photo shows anything out of ordinary, it shows that the red car was not well lined up for the turn (the markings in this intersection are unclear because the roads do not intersect at 90°.)
What happened to James, Robert, Sally and Pamela?
I have seen that happen with my own eyes.
A pickup and an SUV on a SoCal freeway. The PU veered suddenly towards the SUV and into its lane before pulling away, but the driver of the SUV reacted and went into "oversteer" (for lack of a better term). Waggled once or twice and then ran off the road to the right, hit a k-rail wall and flipped headfirst over the wall.
It wasn't until I stopped and ran back with a fire extinguisher that I saw that the SUV had rolled to the bottom of a long slope and was resting upside down in a cement V-ditch (thankfully dry.)
Civilian rescuers had already pulled out car seats with two small children in them. Mom was farther up the slope, crumpled against a small tree. She had been ejected. I don't know much about her condition other than the grotesque posture of her body, and the words of the people beside her, "She's still breathing."
On my way back to my car, I talked to the CHP and gave them as full a description of the (in my opinion) perpetrator as possible. The guy had even stopped farther downstream and gotten out of his truck to look, climbed back in and driven away.
