In 2012, voters across the region liked what they saw in Barack Obama. The president won the popular vote in 24 of the 25 towns in New London County in his bid for re-election, mirroring the support he got in Connecticut and across the country. Four years later, four of those towns had had enough. In Ledyard, Montville, North Stonington and Salem, turnout went up, support for Democrats went down and Donald Trump won hundreds more votes in each town than both Mitt Romney in 2012 and Trump's rival in 2016, Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. They're not alone — 40...

No clear-thinking conservative attacked Barack and Michelle Obama’s children over the last eight years. Sasha and (until recently) Malia Obama are just teens, and no matter how nasty politics gets, for the most part decent people (and the media) go out of their way not to make the children of politicians the story. Or at least, they do if the politician is a Democrat. Consider what Rosie O’Donnell recently said about Barron Trump, the youngest child of President-Elect Donald Trump. The cantankerous comic, who joined and left “The View” not once, but twice, sent an outrageous Tweet about the ten-year-old...

U.S. Army Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl, who is charged with desertion for walking away from his combat post in Afghanistan in 2009, has asked President Barack Obama for a pardon, the White House said on Saturday. Obama will relinquish office on Jan. 20 to Republican President-elect Donald Trump, who made caustic comments about the sergeant during the presidential campaign that drew complaints from Bergdahl’s defense team. Trump savaged Bergdahl as “a no-good traitor who should have been executed” and criticized the prisoner swap in 2014 that won his release....

This is a guest post by a well-known political commentator, the father of Pajama Boy. He is a true "Obama patriot," whose views should matter little after mid-day on January 20th. Here are the thoughts of President Reject Obama:President Elect Donald Trump violated all known rules of common decency by accepting a telephone call from Taiwanese "President" Tsai Ing-wen without My permission. Indeed, Ms. Tsai did as well by placing the call without My permission. Obviously, I would not have granted permission because it was just a trick, intended to embarrass Me and My fundamentally transformed country. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Saturday the...

The Obama Administration has agreed to admit nearly 2500 refugees that the Australian government has refused to allow into their country for "security reasons." The refugees are from terrorism "hot spots" and have been excluded for failing to clear the country's vetting process. Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-Va) have complained about the lack of transparency in the President's actions. "In a matter having obvious security implications the President is obliged to consult Congress before agreeing to bring potentially dangerous individuals into the United States," Grassley contended. "The fact that these men were not deemed a good...

Compiling a list of reasons why Barack Obama is a terrible president seems like a project for a book rather than a column. However, when we start looking at the catastrophic mistakes he’s made that may reverberate for years to come, it’s clear that he’s been a disaster for America on a scale that few other Presidents can match. Just look at his record.

President-elect Donald Trump extended an offer to Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte to visit the White House next year, an aide to the foreign leader says. Christopher Go, a special adviser to Duterte, says the president-elect and the Philippine leader had a 'very engaging, animated' talk today that lasted more than seven minutes. Duterte lost out on a bilateral meeting with President Barack Obama this fall after calling him a 'son of a b****'. The Philippine president has professed a kinship with Trump, whose cursing on the campaign trail raised eyebrows more than once. Duterte also ran on an anti-establishment and...

Outgoing Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid and President Obama are taking one more stab at retaining control of the Internet before they leave Washington. Harry Reid and President Obama are circulating a petition to remove the hold on FCC Commissioner Jessica Rosenworcel so that she can be reconfirmed before Congress recesses next week. If Obama and the Senate Democrats successfully reconfirm Rosenworcel, the FCC will remain in Democratic control during President-elect Trump’s administration. Her reconfirmation would block Trump’s ability to nominate both Jamison and Eisenach.

Reports of your heated exchange with President-Elect Trump’s campaign manager Kellyanne Conway at the Harvard post-election forum have been rampaging through the mainstream and alternate media like a five alarm fire for the last 24 hours. Apparently, during the forum, you accused Mr. Trump and Ms. Conway of ‘providing a platform for white supremacists’ during the election. I seriously doubt that the 62.6 million Americans who voted for Mr. Trump were all white supremacists. But, that’s how liberals operate. Anyone that doesn’t agree with your warped, Eurocrap vision for America is a racist, a sexist, a homophobe, an Islamophobe or...

Citing a national security risk, President Barack Obama on Friday blocked a Chinese investor’s proposed takeover of Aixtron SE, a German maker of semiconductor manufacturing equipment, a rare move that drew objections from Beijing and complaints that the U.S. was injecting politics into the deal. Obama ordered Fujan Grand Chip to “fully and permanently abandon” its proposed acquisition of Aixtron SE’s California-based subsidiary, Aixtron, Inc. The decision upheld a recommendation from the Committee on Foreign Investment in the U.S., which reviews foreign purchases of U.S. companies. The decision threatens to jeopardize the larger deal, which is under scrutiny [by] Berlin...

Conservative attorney Cleta Mitchell said on Friday that Barack Obama has acted more like a dictator than a president, and that President-elect Donald Trump should make it a priority to “restore the rule of law.” “We have been living under a dictatorial tyrant for the last eight years,” Mitchell said at the Conservative Women’s Network event, co-hosted by the Clare Boothe Luce Policy Institute and the Heritage Foundation in Washington, D.C. “And one of the most important things that Donald Trump can do as president is to restore the rule of law,” Mitchell said. …

President Barack Obama has been discussing a post-presidential career in digital media and is considering launching his own media company, according to multiple sources who spoke on background because they were not authorized to speak for the president. Obama considers media to be a central focus of his next chapter, these sources say, though exactly what form that will take — a show streaming on Netflix, a web series on a comedy site or something else — remains unclear. Obama has gone so far as to discuss launching his own media company, according to one source with knowledge of the...

For all of barack obama's tenure as President of the US democrats have savaged every criticism of obama as racism. It was the multi-tool dog whistle, blown at every opportunity. Eric Holder, the AG for "my people" , saw racism in every obama criticism. hillary clinton saw racism in opposing obama. The infection spread even to ESPN. It never stopped: Alas, another reporter asked me the same question I have been repeatedly asked for the past five years. “As an African-American, why are you a member of the Tea Party?” It dawned on me to ask the reporter, “If you are a...

So many to choose from. Benghazi. Fast & Furious. IRS Scandal. The one which encapsulates just how bad the Obama Years were when the administration flew James Taylor to France to help them "cope" with a terrorist attack. The entire 8 years were like living in the Twilight Zone, but that is one I will simply never forget. I am sure am forgetting a lot......perhaps blocking them from memory. Add yours.

While the unemployment rate dropped and the economy added another 178,000 jobs, the number of Americans out of the labor force hit a record high last month. According to the Labor Department, 95,055,000 Americans were out of workforce in November, meaning they were neither employed nor had made an effort to find work over the previous month. The level of Americans outside of the workforce last month — due to retirement, education, discouragement, or otherwise — represented a substantial 446,000 increase over the month of October.

In a stunning development, the Bureau of Labor Statistics just revealed that the US unemployment rate unexpectedly dropped to 4.6% in November. This is the lowest level since August 2007. Economists were expecting the rate to be unchanged from October’s 4.9%. “The trend in employment growth remains more than strong enough to keep the unemployment rate trending down,” Jim O’Sullivan, of High Frequency Economics, said. Some of this decline was due to the 446,000 Americans that dropped out of the labor force, which brought the labor force participation rate down to 62.7% during the month from 62.8% a month ago....

But the announcement that Mr. Obama will deliver a speech to U.S. Special Forces to confirm the wisdom of his counterterrorism strategy looks like validation of an effort that is far from settled. . . . “This speech will be a final opportunity for him to discuss at length how he has effectively, durably, and successfully implemented reforms to keep us safe,” Mr. Earnest said. The preview strongly hinted that Mr. Obama will defend his counterterrorism strategy, which has been sharply criticized by President-elect Donald Trump and congressional Republicans, as the correct path forward for the incoming administration.
