A man was attacked by at least five people and left pantless on a Brooklyn subway platform on Friday. The NYPD says it happened at about 3:25 p.m. The victim was on an "L" train at the Broadway Junction station when he was attacked. The attack continued on the train to the Atlantic Avenue station where it spilled out onto the platform. Police say the man continued to be beaten. In a short video clip that was posted on social media, the man appeared to be unconscious and dragged back toward the train by one of the attackers. The attackers...
  • Kerry and the Iran Surrender Caucus need to get their stories straight

One hundred and fifty members of Congress – all Democrats and, among them, most of the small group of bitterly anti-Israel lawmakers – signed a letter supporting President Obama’s diplomatic efforts vis-à-vis the Iranian nuclear weapons program. Authored by Reps. Jan Schakowsky (Illinois), Lloyd Doggett (Texas), and David Price (North Carolina), the letter exemplifies the hyper-partisanship that has driven the left wing of the Democrat party on this issue even as that wing has cried “partisan extremism” at the responses from Republicans. As if trying to prove Churchill right, this Iran Surrender Caucus, whenever presented with a choice between dishonor...
  • Why New York Women Wish They Lived in the ‘Mad Men’ Era

The final episode of AMC’s “Mad Men” this Sunday heralds the end of a TV era. The show’s seven seasons covered the turbulent decade from 1960 until 1970, dramatizing changing styles and social mores in the lives of “Mad Men” and women, or professionals in the Madison Avenue advertising industry. For those who aren’t regular watchers: A lot of the show’s male characters spent their time chasing young women around the office and a lot of the female characters spent their time trying to land or keep a husband. Critics have consistently lauded the series, not just for its entertainment...

The creator of the award-winning film ‘Gasland’ was just arrested at a protest in rural New York. Here’s the mini-documentary he made on the eve of his arrest. Award-winning documentary filmmaker Josh Fox, who wrote and directed the acclaimed fracking film Gasland, was arrested this afternoon while engaging in a human barricade at a natural-gas storage facility in the Finger Lakes. “People need to see what’s happening at Seneca Lake, and also understand that this isn’t isolated, it is happening everywhere,” Fox told The Daily Beast before the protest. “We need to educate people that our dependency on fossil fuels...

It’s sad that we have to do an annual recap on this topic. It’s even sadder that we could do more frequent updates. The Amcha Intiative at the University of California, led by the estimable Tammi Rossman-Benjamin, a lecturer in the UC system, has compiled a “Swastika Tracker” which gives “a partial list of incidents where swastikas were found on U. S. campuses.” Swastikas have been display on at least 14 campuses so far this year including: • Stanford • Northwestern • The University of Missouri • Framingham State University • Farleigh Dickinson • Northeastern • Tufts • SUNY Purchase...

Former New York Gov. George Pataki said Thursday that he will announce at a May 28 event in New Hampshire whether he will run for president. Pataki said he was not worried about the increasingly crowded Republican field of candidates. “I’ve learned early on that you can’t worry about what you can’t control. You can only control your ideas, your vision and how hard you work, and that’s all I’m worried about,” he said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

On a panel promoting pre-Kindergarten programs at a conference recently in Austin, Texas, a pair of government officials–one local, one federal–made their case. Representing the City of New York, Richard Buery suggested that employing universal preschool is the number-one issue for Mayor Bill de Blasio. To critics of increasingly centralized learning schemes, Buery had something to say. “There are people who do not want us to succeed for a variety of reasons,” he acknowledged. “People speak ill of government so often.” But apparently there is nothing about which to worry because “[g]overnment is doing big things for people.” Far-left Democrats...

Outstanding video clip received in an email today ... We certainly were busy watching the news right after 9/11, but we never saw this......BOAT-LIFT OF 9/11..... In the 14 years since this happened, this is the first time I've ever seen this...I don't even remember seeing/hearing about this evacuation on the news! The fact is, it was all done in 9 hours ... 500,000 people! This is a video well worth watching. The guy at the end (same guy who is at the beginning) has some great words to live by for all of us.

EVERY day, millions of Americans rely on a remarkable network of roads, bridges, subways, trains and buses to connect us to work, school and opportunity. But our transportation system, once the envy of the world, is in jeopardy. In New York City, subways and buses are overcrowded and often unreliable, and roadways and bridges are in dire need of repair and rehabilitation. From the next phase of the Second Avenue subway to plans to connect the Metro-North Railroad to Pennsylvania Station, to the proposed new subway line under Utica Avenue in Brooklyn, there isn’t a short- or long-term expansion project...

Activists in favor of boycotting Israeli products at the Park Slope Food Coop lamented in an article the strong showing of Borough Park residents among the cooperative’s membership, which the New York Daily News on Monday said was basically a swipe at the local Jewish community. In an article written by boycott, divestment and sanctions activist Ann Schneider for New York online newspaper the Indypendent last week, the divestment proponent appeared to lament the strong presence of Borough Park residents among the food cooperative’s members. Speaking to her friend and “long-time member” Carol Lipton, Schenider wrote: “[Lipton] reminded me that...

Likely GOP presidential contender Jeb Bush says he will try to convince grassroots groups of parents who oppose the Common Core standards to flip-flop and embrace the education initiative. When Megyn Kelly of Fox News Channel’s The Kelly File observed how unpopular the Common Core initiative is with grassroots conservatives in particular, Bush responded: “Common Core means a lot of things to different people, so they could be right, based on what’s in front of them…but the simple fact is we need higher standards; they need to be state-driven. The federal government should play no role in this – either...

(VIDEO-AT-LINK)A rogue group of subway vandals calling them the ‘Subway Conquestors’ is allegedly on a mission to attack the rail system. As CBS2’s Weijia Jiang reported, they can be seen in video footage sneaking into deserted stations at Canal and Bergen streets, and an underground construction zone at Ninth Avenue. Police sources believe they were responsible for an explosion in the Bronx, and have been linked to one at Brooklyn’s Nostrand Avenue station in April. In the Nostrand Avenue incident, police arrested Keyshawn Brown, 16, and accused him of placing a piece of metal on the tracks. “There are plenty...

He’s on the road again. As violent crime soars in the Big Apple, Mayor Bill de Blasio has far more pressing matters to deal with — touting his progressive agenda in two more out-of-state locales. Hizzoner will be heading off Tuesday for his 11th trip outside New York in the last 12 months to address national or international issues. After speaking in three Midwestern states last month on income inequality, de Blasio is headed to DC to unveil details of his progressive agenda.

NBC announced on Sunday they were starting a new series called "Meet the Money: The Billionaire Donors." They started with GOP-backing Sheldon Adelson. When will they get to George Soros? In an effort to revitalize and unify the far-left Democratic party, progressives have relied on the very thing they often criticize -- the deep pockets of a billionaire supporter. Agenda supporters were linked to at least $159 million dollars in donations or political contributions from Soros. Many of those self-proclaimed progressives will gather on the steps of the U.S. Capitol May 12 at 3 p.m. to celebrate a new, far-left...

I knew that I would start from the presumption of innocence. I knew that because we are told we should start from that presumption. There were certainly plenty of times I think we all had during the trial — moments, just “wow” moments. Like, “Oh, my God, that throws a lot of doubt in it!” Or, “Oh, my God, he did it!” For me, there were moments — different days, different periods of time — when I could have gone either way. That’s the whole point. Then you go into deliberations.

The year is 2023, and President Ted Cruz is ending the second of his contentious terms in the Oval Office. While his policies have been controversial — for example, undoing major social legislation (Obamacare) without a single Democratic vote — his administration’s continual expressions of hostility toward dissent have finally proved intolerable to millions of Americans. Liberal grievances date back to 2017, the first year of Cruz’s administration, when his Department of Homeland Security issued a report declaring that fears about economic stagnation and inequality combined with liberal hatred of a conservative Latino could foster left-wing extremism. Specifically, failure to...

Openly gay New York hotelier Mati Weiderpass penned an op-ed this week, lashing out at "gay extremists" for protests surrounding a discussion he hosted with presidential hopeful Ted Cruz in late April. Weiderpass and longtime gay business partner Ian Reisner are owners of the OUT NYC Hotel and 80 percent of the commercial property in New York's Fire Island Pines, among other properties patronized by the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community. The two ignited large-scale backlash last month when they played hosts to a "fireside chat" with notoriously anti-gay presidential hopeful Sen. Ted Cruz in front of about...
