Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin is reversing course on how the state deals with transgender students — issuing a requirement that they use bathrooms and locker rooms based on their biological sex. The Republican rolled back changes made by his predecessor, which affected everything from bathroom usage to pronouns. The rewritten rules, which will go into effect after a 30-day public comment period, also say that minors must be called by the names and pronouns listed on their official records — unless a parent give the OK for something else. The “2022 Model Policies on the Privacy, Dignity, and Respect for...

Morrissey married his receptionist after she turned 18 and they now have four children.

Virginia's outgoing Democratic governor, Ralph Northam, faced multiple calls for his resignation following a blackface scandal in 2019, with Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., demanding Northam step down. Yet Northam did not resign, and Kaine recently said he was "glad" the governor remained in office.

Just one problem, however: Youngkin won’t be sworn in until Jan. 15, leaving the highway mess in the hands of lame-duck Democrat Ralph Northam. “Looks Youngkin failed his first test in Va, with traffic stopped for 10-12 hrs on 95 in Virginia. Failure for gov,” wrote one user, who described themselves as a “liberal transplant in NC.” “Collateral damage between Glenn Youngkin and the wrath of God,” posted South Florida Sun-Sentinel columnist Fred Grimm. The errors were immediately noticed by other social media users, who were quick to point out that Northam was still in charge.

Furious drivers stranded on I-95 in Virginia for more than 20 hours without gas, food and water are demanding that Governor Ralph Northam speed up rescue efforts as they resort to calling DoorDash in a dire effort to get food. 'We have to find a way to get national guard here. Diabetics and babies down here. People are going die here,' a friend told NBC's Jim Scarborough, who tweeted the quote in a plea to get people rescued faster as the 50-mile stretch of highway south of the nation’s capital was still closed Tuesday morning after six tractor-trailers jackknifed the...

It's rare for a single election result to spell the likely end of the careers of two politicians, but Virginia Democrats appear to have accomplished just that in 2021. With Governor-elect Glenn Youngkin's two–percentage point upset victory, angry parents likely put an end to the careers of current Gov. Ralph Northam and 2014–2018 Gov. Terry McAuliffe. As we bid adieu to 2021, let's take a ride down memory lane as we also bid good riddance to Northam and McAuliffe. McAuliffe's four years in office were plagued by corporate cronyism, which was not surprising given that an electric car company McAuliffe...

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA—A KKK member posing outside Glenn Youngkin's bus, ostensibly to support the gubernatorial candidate, has turned out to actually just be Governor Ralph Northam in his trusty Klan hood. "We're all in for Glenn! We're all in for Glenn!" the man in the white hood chanted as Youngkin's bus pulled into a campaign stop in Charlottesville. "We racists love Glenn. Vote for Glenn! We are not associated with the Democratic Party whatsoever, despite the white robe and hood! Go, Republicans!" One group of curious youths, who had arrived there in a van, was determined to get to the bottom...

"Real Time" host Bill Maher insisted that Andrew Cuomo has overstayed his welcome as New York's governor amid the growing scandals plaguing the prominent Democrat. Larry Hogan said Friday that he would lift the state’s mask mandate as of Saturday, joining his counterpart in Virginia in suspending one of the most personal restrictions of the coronavirus pandemic... Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam had made a similar announcement less than an hour earlier, based on the same new federal guidance about the need for masks among a heavily vaccinated population. In this 2013 image, U.S. Sens. Mark Warner, left, and Tim Kaine talk to each other on their way to Senate Recording Studio aboard a small subway at U.S. Capitol in Washington. On the eve of the anniversary of the worst mass shooting in Virginia history, Sens. Tim Kaine and Mark Warner, both Virginia Democrats, are asking Congress to follow the state’s lead in enacting restrictions on the purchase and use of firearms. Kaine, who was governor when a lone gunman killed 32 students and teachers at Virginia Tech in 2007, joined with Warner, his predecessor as governor, to introduce...

.... spoke with Yael Levin-Sheldon, who is a parent who resides in Henrico County, Virginia. She also works as a data analyst and using various contacts she has been able to obtain the health records from her state to see if there is definable evidence of the harm being brought to students. What she has uncovered is rather jarring. Using the Freedom of Information Act Levin Sheldon has been able to look at the charts showing the incidents of suicide attempts and self-harm cases of children in her state, and the data is stark. The motivation behind obtaining this information...

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — The process to rename Camp Pendleton — a military base in Virginia named after a Confederate general — is underway. In a press conference in June, Gov. Ralph Northam said he supported renaming bases that carry Confederate names. After that, he directed his administration to review and recommend a replacement name for Camp Pendleton, which is in Virginia Beach, a governor’s office spokeswoman said. A working group, which includes representatives from the Secretariat of Veterans and Defense Affairs and the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, has been reviewing multiple names and will submit its...

One of the most controversial and reviled of Catholic documents is Pope Pius IX’s 1864 “Syllabus of Errors,” a long list of popular opinions that the Roman pontiff strongly condemned. Placing the document within its proper historical context, Pius XI was concerned by developments in such countries as the United States, where Catholic education was increasingly restricted under what were called “Blaine amendments.” Among the “errors” Pius IX assailed in the document is the belief that “all public institutes intended for instruction… on the education of youth… should be fully subjected to the civil and political power at the pleasure...

A high school student held onto a 2016 video of a young girl saying a racial slur, then posted it online after she had chosen to attend her dream school, the New York Times reported. “I wanted to get her where she would understand the severity of that word,” 18-year-old Jimmy Galligan told the New York Times. He did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation. In 2019, Galligan was sent a three-second Snapchat video of fellow Heritage High School student Mimi Groves saying “I can drive” before uttering a racial slur. When...

When Barbara Johns was just 16 years old, she led a walkout at her high school to protest poor and unequal school conditions. The moment is one that many historians believe helped launch the desegregation movement in the US. Now, Johns -- who died in 1991 -- will be memorialized at the US Capitol, replacing Virginia's statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee.

Democrat Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam, who faced controversy for dressing in black face while in medical school, ordered a statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee removed overnight from the United States Capitol. The Washington Post reported it will be replaced by a statue of Barbara Johns, who was a civil rights activist as a teen in Farmville, Virginia. “Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam (D) had requested the removal over the summer after a commission chartered by the General Assembly decided that a man who fought to uphold slavery was not a fitting symbol for a diverse and modern state,” the...
