Borrowing an idea left over from the Carter Administration, New York City announced an odd/even gasoline rationing scheme. It was hoped that the scheme would cut four-hour wait times at gasoline pumps in half. However, a substantial portion of drivers are unable to determine whether the numbers on their license plates are odd or even. “My plate has four numbers on it,” one driver observed. “Which one should I use?” Another driver pointed out that “I have a vanity plate. All of the writing on my plate is letters. Do I go on an ‘odd’ day because it is odd...

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie may have worked closely with President Obama in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy, but it appears he’s more emotionally invested in a different budding bromance. Christie admitted at a Monday briefing that he started “weeping” after he hugged Bruce Springsteen at NBC’s telethon for Hurricane Sandy victims on Nov. 2, the Record reported. Christie is a longtime fan of his fellow New Jerseyan and has attended more than 130 Springsteen concerts over the past 37 years. The governor even sang a version of “Thunder Road” when he made an appearance on Late Night with Jimmy...

Obama used Sandy to win. Chris Matthews thanked Sandy for her help. Now the aftermath of Sandy remains and Obama is nowhere to be found. Guess Sandy was a one night stand for Barry.

A nor'easter blustered into New York and Jersey on Wednesday, threatening to swamp homes all over again, plunge neighborhoods back into darkness and inflict more misery on tens of thousands of people still reeling from Superstorm Sandy. Under ordinary circumstances, a storm of this sort wouldn't be a big deal, but large swaths of the landscape were still an open wound, with many of Sandy's victims still mucking out their homes and cars. Thousands of people in low-lying neighborhoods staggered by the superstorm just over a week ago were warned to clear out, with authorities saying rain, wet snow and...

"As a party, we have to look forward to what our challenges are in the future," Christie said. "This election is over. So we have to look forward to the next challenges." As the party figures out how to attract Hispanics, women and young people, Republicans may look toward Christie as a frontrunner for the 2016 nomination. He leads a blue and diverse state, walks the walk on bipartisanship and could steer the party away from the far right.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie -- Mitt Romney's surrogate-turned-President Obama fan -- bristled today at suggestions that his embrace of the Democratic incumbent cost Republicans the White House.... When asked what went wrong for Romney last night, Christie deadpanned: “He didn’t get enough votes.” “I’m not a pundit, I’m an office holder,” Christie said.

KEANSBURG, N.J. (AP) -- New Jersey's famously tough-talking governor finally got a hug from his longest-running unrequited love. Speaking Monday at a briefing on storm recovery. Gov. Chris Christie revealed he unexpectedly spoke with Bruce Springsteen earlier in the day.

My understanding from checking around the last day or two–after emerging from a semi-news blackout last week–is that Christie’s robust embrace of President Obama did break through and help President Obama rebut part of Romney’s closing argument that he can work across the aisle better than the president. Yesterday, the New York Post ran an editorial begging Christie to make a strong show of support for Romney. That kind of show of support might have been particularly important to Romney (and convenient for Christie) in the Philadelphia suburbs. But now it’s too late.UPDATE: Jon Ward reports on Christie turning down...

“(Obama) has been incredibly supportive and helpful to our state and not once did he bring up the election,” said an adoring Chris Christie of the president’s clearly selfless tour of New Jersey after hurricane Sandy. (1) Why of COURSE governor, politics couldn’t have been further from the mind of an individual who has campaigned literally each and every day since his inauguration in January of 2009. Prior to Governor Christie’s slobbering display of man-live before an obviously delighted battalion of media cameras, Rasmussen had Mitt Romney leading in the national tracking poll. Now, however, it is...

Two days after President Obama flew into storm-ravaged New Jersey on Wednesday for a 90 minute photo op with Governor Christie, parts of the state have descended into what one local resident calls "an apocalyptic vision." On Friday, in an exclusive interview with Breitbart News, this New Jersey resident described the situation there: New Jersey right now is experiencing an apocalyptic vision. Gas lines are a mile long. Hundreds are standing in line with gas cans. Fights are breaking out. Police and national guard have been called out. I've not had power or taken a shower since Sunday. Pray for...

Two women from the Dominican Republic told The Daily Caller that Democratic New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez paid them for sex earlier this year. In interviews, the two women said they met Menendez around Easter at Casa de Campo, an expensive 7,000 acre resort in the Dominican Republic. They claimed Menendez agreed to pay them $500 for sex acts, but in the end they each received only $100. Dominican hookers, to be specific. This is what we’re hearing about the sex scandal involving a “powerful senator” in a headline being touted by Drudge, with a story by the Daily Caller promised late tonight. UPDATE: Shortly after the Drudge Report headline went up, my associate Ali Akbar got a tip that the story involved Sen. Menendez of New Jersey and at least one prostitute with whom he trysted on a taxpayer-funded trip to the Dominican Republic. Within one hour, Akbar had confirmed this with other sources, and we understand that numerous reporters in D.C. have heard similar reports. UPDATE...

State officials are planning to move ahead with the scheduled elections next week, though they are bracing for some challenges in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

Somehow, this doesn’t look like a convention bounce for Barack Obama, either. According to Quinnipiac’s first likely-voter look at New Jersey — a state Obama won in 2008 by fifteen points — Mitt Romney comes in only seven points back, with a narrow lead among independents [see update below]: President Barack Obama tops Gov. Mitt Romney, his Republican challenger, 51 – 44 percent among New Jersey likely voters, who say the president will do a better job on Medicare and health care while Romney will do a better job on the economy, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today.This...

[In the blue state of NJ, stunning footage of line at Chick-Fil-A on Aug 1] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m90FsST_1p4&feature=youtu.be Chick-fil-A is a conservative company that stands for traditional marriage and operates on Biblical principles. They REFUSE to bow to political correctness from the media! We drove 40 miles to support Chick-Fil-A. We sat in traffic for over an hour on Route 17. When we entered the mall and saw Chick-Fil-A the line filled the floor. As we approached the line we realized it was a maze throughout the back of Chick-Fil-A. We stood 2 hours in line and met so many other supporters...

We were at the Chick Fil-A at the Paramus Park Mall in Paramus, NJ. The first time I ate at this place since the mall opened in 1974, and it was pretty darned good. I highly recommend the peach shake. What's noteworthy is this particular Chick fil-A is one of the few remaining original teneants at this mall. No media coverage, other than the local cable news. Considering how heavily democrat Bergen Cty is they had quite a turnout and everyone seemed in good spirits. And the crowd was quite a bit more, (I HATE this word) diverse than...

“going to be Mitt Romney Country,” New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie believes his state will support Mitt Romney’s bid for president as much as he does. Standing alongside the Republican presidential candidate, Christie told donors at a $50,000-a-plate fundraising dinner on Tuesday night in Woodbridge, N.J., that the state is “going to be Mitt Romney Country,” according to the Boston Herald. Dobbs Won't Rule Out Senate BidNovember 17, 2009 9:28 AM Former CNN pundit Lou Dobbs could be contemplating a run for public office in his native NJ, he told Bill O'Reilly 11/17. In Dobbs' first interview since abruptly leaving his television show last week, he refused to rule out the idea of running for Senate. "A lot of things are on my mind. I'm not going to be coy about this," Dobbs said, when asked if he was considering a bid. "I can guarantee you 100 percent -- I'm going to remain in the -- in the public arena. These...

Now that Lou Dobbs has hung up his microphone on CNN, the populist New Jersey resident could be a viable candidate for the Garden State's US Senate race in 2012, political experts said yesterday. The veteran anchor -- whose strong views on illegal immigration, health care and job creation propelled him to the top of the ratings at the cable network -- said yesterday he had been approached about getting into politics, but insisted he was still weighing his options. Should he choose to jump into the famously ferocious world of New Jersey politics, Dobbs -- who surprised his fans...
