The Washington Football Team, which dropped its controversial name a year ago, has banned Native American garb from its stadium. Washington has banned fans from wearing Native American headdresses or face paint to games at FedEx Field this season, the team announced Wednesday. Washington will hold a practice at the stadium Friday with approximately 20,000 fans expected. It will be the biggest crowd since the home finale in 2019, which means it will be the largest gathering in the stadium since the organization announced in July of 2020 it was dropping its old name and seeking a new one. It...

Colin Kaepernick thanked a pair of Miami Dolphins players for taking a knee during the playing of the national anthem prior to the first game of the NFL regular season Sunday. Miami Dolphins wide receivers Kenny Stills and Albert Wilson were the first -- and as of Sunday evening, the only -- two players to kneel during "The Star-Spangled Banner" prior to a Week 1 game. "My Brothers [Stills] and [Wilson] continue to show their unwavering strength by fighting for the oppressed! They have not backed down, even when attacked and intimidated." Kaepernick wrote on Twitter, adding, "Love is at...

Houston Texans owner Bob McNair walked back his apology for his comment last year comparing NFL players to “inmates running the prison," a statement he made regarding players protesting by refusing to stand for the national anthem. McNair immediately apologized for that comment after severe backlash, but has changed his tune since then. “The main thing I regret is apologizing,” McNair said to the Wall Street Journal. McNair claims the comments were directed towards NFL executives who felt he was exerting more power than the other owners.

Until we have some actual progress involving an NFL team moving to Los Angeles, maybe it's best to stop the breathless speculation about which teams will move there. There won't be a team moving to Los Angeles in 2015. ESPN.com's Adam Schefter said commissioner Roger Goodell told the Oakland Raiders, San Diego Chargers and St. Louis Rams – the three hottest candidates to move to L.A. if that ever happened – that there will be no team in Los Angeles next season.

You know, being a fan of the Minnesota Vikings is difficult enough just based on what happens on the field. We’re 0-4 in Super Bowls. We’ve got to deal with the stomach-curdling memories of the 1999 NFC Championship Game, not to mention 41-doughnut in the same game two years later, and the bounty-hunting Saints putting out a contract on Brett Favre in 2010. But on a cultural level . . . hey, what the heck did we do? We were just sitting here minding our own business. First we got stuck with a petulant, attention-mongering punter who couldn’t and can’t...

BOSTON (CBS) — The Suffolk County District Attorney’s office is trying to track down any tattoo artists who may have worked on former Patriot Aaron Hernandez after a double murder in Boston’s South End. Hernandez is expected to be arraigned on two counts of first-degree murder Wednesday, May 28, in connection with the July 2012 homicides of Daniel Abreu and Safiro Furtado. Investigators hope to speak with the artist or artists who gave Hernandez specific tattoos on his right forearm between February 2012 and June 2013. They say those artists are not suspects, and not accused of any wrongdoing, but...

...cracked Peyton Manning's hand signal code during the Super Bowl so they were able to predict every play The Seattle Seahawks have revealed that a good part of their defensive strategy at the Super Bowl came from the fact that they were able to decode Peyton Manning's hand signals on the field. Controversial corner back Richard Sherman said that he and his fellow defenders cracked the code that the Denver Broncos quarterback was using, meaning that they knew exactly what to expect for each play. 'We knew what route concepts they liked on different downs, so we jumped all the...

Football is a team sport{ it seems to me that everyone on the team must do their job and work together to win the game. Apparently, this guy "Incognito" has srewed up before to cause trouble among his team mates and it is said that he wasn't the only one causing chaos on the team. Ultimately, the coach is responsible for the tone of the locker room and he should be fired. I read that the 49er coach din't allow any pranks or harrasment and that he encouraged the senior players to help the rookie players{ Just my take on...

The NFL owners and the NFL Players Association agreed Friday to extend the current collective bargaining agreement by one week to allow negotiations to continue, the NFL Network reported. The labor deal was set to expire at 11:59 pm ET Friday after the sides agreed Thursday on a 24-hour extension. Since the sides are believed to still be far apart on the key issues, most expected that Friday's brief session in Washington, D.C., would be used to come to terms on a longer extension. The new deadline for the expiration of the CBA is March 11 at 11:59pm ET, as...

John Semcken, a vice president at Majestic Realty, hopes to have a team committed to the new stadium by 2010. But league labor issues could delay plans. (Reed Saxon / Associated Press / January 7, 2009)Since the Raiders and Rams left Southern California after the 1994 season, several developers have come forward with grand but ultimately unrealized plans for bringing the NFL back to Los Angeles. Plans have been floated for stadiums in Carson, downtown Los Angeles, Anaheim and Pasadena's Rose Bowl. But at least for now, the proposal attracting the attention of state and local officials is developer Ed...

One of the most vicious collisions you’ll ever see, posted here because I know most of you watched the game and are wondering how he’s doing. Miraculously, despite “significant” neck pain, he’s “neurogically intact” with movement in all his limbs. No diagnosis yet but presumably it’s whiplash and/or a concussion. So brutal was this that, after watching the replay, I was hoping he was “merely” paralyzed and not actually dead on the field. Click the image to watch.

NFL's Best Fans Welcome Home World Champions INDIANAPOLIS - They celebrated in Miami, and the celebration continued on the plane ride to Indianapolis. But through those moments, through the late hours of Sunday night, and the wee hours of Monday, Colts Head Coach Tony Dungy said the players and coaches were anticipating a climactic moment. It came early Monday evening. It was well worth the wait. Around 7 p.m., the 2006 World Champion Colts entered the RCA Dome after a parade through fan-lined streets in downtown Indianapolis.
