FIVE fathers have lost children as a result of the mass murder in Cairns. Four girls aged 14, 12, 11 and two and four boys aged nine, eight, six and five were stabbed to death in the Murray St home. Spanish soccer team FC Barcelona has reportedly decided not to renew its sponsorship deal with a Qatari group linked to the country’s royal family because of Qatar’s alleged involvement in funding Islamic extremist terrorist groups. Utah Sen. Mike Lee defended himself Tuesday against allegations that his point of order vote, which he earned in partnership with Sens. BROOKLYN, N.Y. (WABC) -- Two police officers have been shot in Brooklyn. Officers were shot in a patrol cruiser. Both are in critical condition. They were taken to Woodhull hospital. Hundreds of police officers are on the scene. It is unclear what led up to the shooting or where exactly it took place, but streets are shut down near Tompkins and Myrtle avenues. Several surrounding streets are also blocked, and many people in their neighborhood are not allowed to leave their homes.

BEAVERCREEK — Walmart on Pentagon Boulevard in Beavercreek turned away customers while a planned protest got underway inside the store. A German steel factory suffered massive damage after hackers managed to access production networks, allowing them to tamper with the controls of a blast furnace, the government said in its annual IT security report. . . . . . Due to these failures, one of the plant’s blast furnaces could not be shut down in a controlled manner, which resulted in “massive damage to plant,” the BSI said, describing the technical skills of the attacker as “very advanced.”

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Some city officials are upset over a photo posted to Instagram by a West Philadelphia paramedic, showing two black men pointing a gun at a police officer and describing police as “the enemy.” ~snip~ The paramedic has since taken the photo down and responded on Facebook saying that he deeply apologizes and that he did not mean to hurt his brothers in blue or offend anyone.
