Sports Direct has apologised after two schoolboys were barred from a store by a security guard who allegedly told them: ‘No Jews, no Jews’. The sports retailer removed the worker from its outlet in Borehamwood in Hertfordshire after he reportedly told the Year 7 students they could not enter. Both youngsters attend Yavneh College, a Jewish secondary school in the town, and were wearing their school uniform at the time.

Retail sales of state-licensed weed in Washington topped $12 million by Sept. 8 … and sales keep climbing. The improvement of sales in recreational marijuana here mirrors the steep growth in sales in Colorado, where the recreational market out-sold medical for the first time in July (the latest numbers from that state). The Cannabist reports: “In July 2014, customers purchased more than $29.7 million in recreational marijuana — up from $24.7 million in June. Medical marijuana patients spent more than $28.9 million on marijuana in July — comparable to June’s $28.6 million in sales.” In Washington, there are now 55...

Attorney General Eric Holder is prepared to tell the plaintiff in a private lawsuit that he cannot seek damages because doing so could potentially result in the release of sensitive information. Victor Restis, a Greek businessman, is attempting to sue a private organization, United Against Nuclear Iran, for defamation. He claims the group has erroneously accused him of engaging in business with Iran and, in the pursuit of legal recourse, has sought the release of certain relevant data. Holder, however, has responded that publicizing information from the non-governmental entity could lead to national security concerns.

WASHINGTON (AP) — A new study says that the drilling procedure called fracking didn’t cause much-publicized cases of tainted water, blaming contamination on leaky natural gas wells instead. The study finds that eight hydraulically fractured wells in Pennsylvania and Texas leaked gas because the piping and cement seals in the wells themselves weren’t working properly.

The CT-114 Tutor is, by most definitions, a museum piece. However, think of it rather as “the little airplane that could—and still can” because, after nearly 50 years in service, the agile single-engine jet remains a key element of the Royal Canadian Air Force. While the appropriately-named Tutors have not been used for lead-in fighter training since 2000, when they were replaced with Beechcraft CT-156 Harvard II turboprops and BAE Systems CT-155 Hawk jets in the NATO Flying Training in Canada (NFTC) program, two are still flown for systems evaluation purposes by the Aerospace Engineering Test Establishment (AETE) in Cold...

My User Name on Free Republic is Scouter. I have been a member of Free Republic for 14 years. I don't write many vanity posts, but I consider this one to be very important. I had been working on this post for several days, and I was planning to post it tomorrow. But the Drudge Report headline CDC: PREPARE FOR EBOLA has moved up my timeline. I have developed a model for making future projections of the number of Ebola cases. I have undertaken this project for several reasons. First, out of simple professional curiosity. Second, I believe the time...

Google is planning to test Internet delivery by drone high above New Mexico, according to a government filing. On Friday, the company asked the Federal Communications Commission for permission to use two blocks of frequencies for the tests, which are scheduled to last about six months and begin in October. They will be conducted above an area of more than 1,400 square kilometers in the center of New Mexico to the east of Albuquerque. “Google recently acquired Titan Aerospace, a firm that specializes in developing solar and electric unmanned aerial systems for high altitude, long endurance flights,” Google said in...

...Confirms She’s One of World’s Biggest Airheads Progressive Rosie O’Donnell, previously fired from The View, but now brought back in hopes of improving ratings from ABC’s all-female hosted talk show, debuted for the second time on Monday to bash the NFL, strongly inferring that football players, who play a physical game are not capable of separating the “violence” from their personal lives. Using the recent news of Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson as a springboard to further the left’s war against football, O’Donnell, acting as an expert on how the “human brain works,” said: “They live in an arena of...

German Chancellor Angela Merkel declared that in Germany, multiculturalism has "utterly failed." Both Australia's ex-prime minister John Howard and Spain's ex-prime minister Jose Maria Aznar reached the same conclusion about multiculturalism in their countries. British Prime Minister David Cameron has warned that multiculturalism is fostering extremist ideology and directly contributing to homegrown Islamic terrorism. UK Independence Party leader Nigel Farage said the United Kingdom's push for multiculturalism has not united Britons but pushed them apart. It has allowed for Islam to emerge despite Britain's Judeo-Christian culture. Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair said the roots of violent Islamism are not...

In June 2014, there were 46,496,145 recipients of the food stamp program, which is enough to fill the Yankee Stadium 925 times, according to data from the Department of Agriculture (USDA). Homeland Security spokesman Francis Taylor said in a Senate hearing last week that there is no evidence to support the belief that the Islamic State terror group is planning a cross border attack on U.S. soil. Taylor, DHS undersecretary for Intelligence and Analysis, told the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs about DHS being "unaware" of a threat from the group, which is also called ISIS or ISIL. "At present, DHS is unaware of any specific, credible threat to the U.S. homeland from ISIL," Taylor said Wednesday, according to a transcript. "I'm satisfied we have the intelligence and...

College scholarships will be some of the newest victims of the calorie-shaving, sodium-lowering Healthy, Hunger Free Kids Act of 2010. Improving child nutrition is the focal point of the federal legislation that authorizes funding and sets policy for the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s core child nutrition programs. It also speaks to the drinks and snacks available to students during the school day more than ever before. Effective July 1, 2014, the only snacks school districts may sell to students during the school day – including food and beverages sold in school stores, vending machines and through fundraisers – will be...

There were few modern democrats among the armed opposition to Assad two years ago. There are far fewer now. So who can Obama trust not to turn Western-supplied weapons against us later? The young rebels and opposition activists gathered in a school to discuss how the northern Syrian town of Al Bab should be governed after the departure of Bashar al Assad’s soldiers were taken aback by the question: “Why aren’t there any women here?” It was the summer of 2012, more than 12 months into the uprising against the Syrian president, and more than a year before Abu Bakr...

Armin RosenSeptember 15, 2014 The UN is quietly pulling back from the parts of the peacekeeper-administered military disengagement zone separating the Israeli and Syrian-controlled sections of the Golan Heights. Reuters quotes an anonymous UN staffer as saying that "Staff in U.N. positions 10, 16, 31 and 37, as well as Camp Faouar on the (Syrian) side are being relocated."
