The Trump campaign appears to be riding high and operating optimistically headed into the final week of the presidential campaign. Police say a martial arts instructor took down the suspect of a robbery in progress. Young people and independents are helping Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump remain competitive with Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in New Mexico, a new poll finds. Clinton led Trump five 5 percentage points, 45-40, heading into the final stretch of the campaign, according to the survey, which was conducted Monday. Support for Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson, New Mexico’s former governor, dropped in the new poll to 9 percent. The statewide survey of 1,899 likely voters was conducted by ZiaPoll. McKinley County Sheriff’s deputies say an alleged drunk driver ran through barricades to strike a fire truck and medical helicopter. Frank Hernandez was at the scene and witnessed the crash. Hernandez works for Speedway Towing in Gallup. A New Mexico motorist was arrested early Monday after cops say he drove around a barricade and smashed into an EMS helicopter while under the influence of alcohol. The McKinley County Sheriff's Office said the helicopter and an ambulance were responding to a man injured in an unrelated accident on Highway 566 near the town of Gallup. On Friday, September 9th, 2016, a man driving a Ford Explorer hit a bicyclist in Abuquerque, New Mexico.  The driver did not stop.  The bicycle was lodged under the SUV.  About a mile further on, the driver, who has been identified as a local MMA fighter, 33 year old Henry Martinez, was stopped.
