The New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission passed a ruling today that will block the sale of Tesla Motors Inc. vehicles in the state, according to Bloomberg, which could ding the company's growth plans. The rule would require an auto dealers franchise agreement in order to legally sell new cars in the state. But Tesla sells its cars through direct sales – from the manufacturer straight to the consumer. Tesla may have to close its two showrooms in the state, Bloomberg noted.

March 7, 2014 (LifeSiteNews.com) – As the media debate the reason abortions declined over the last few years, pro-life voices say the record number of new laws restricting abortion played a role. The year 2014 is already shaping up to follow the trend of substantial pro-life legislation. Arizona Abortion facilities will no longer receive advance notice of state inspections, if the governor signs a proposed law. The state House of Representatives passed the measure, allowing unannounced health inspections of abortion facilities, by a vote of 34-22. Florida A woman tricked into ingesting an abortion-inducing drug that killed her child wants...

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: Now, I have intended for the past two days to talk about this teenager that sued her parents in New Jersey, and I'm gonna do it now. I promised, so here we go. "A New Jersey honor student suing her parents for..." She's losing the suit, by the way, at least lost an early round. The judge is Peter Bogaard. She is 18. She claims she was kicked out of the house. Her parents say, "No, she left on her own." She says her parents were disciplining her too much, making her do homework and so forth....

A group of five U.S. senators have joined the growing chorus of influential voices, telling the Kellogg Co. to end its nearly five-month lockout of more than 220 workers at its Memphis, Tenn., cereal production facility. The Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers (BCTGM) Local 252G members who make Frosted Flakes®, Froot Loops® and other breakfast favorites were locked out as part of the drive by the company to replace steady, middle-class, full-time jobs with casual part-time employees who would make significantly lower wages and substandard benefits. In a letter to Kellogg’s CEO John Bryant, Sens. Could a White House spell-off be in the works between President Obama and former Vice President Dan Quayle? In a throwback to the latter's infamous misspelling of the word "potato," Obama accidentally misspelled "respect" while introducing singer Aretha Franklin during a tribute to "Women of Soul" at the White House Thursday. “When Aretha first told us what … R-S-P-E-C-T meant to her,” Obama said, pausing briefly before the audience began laughing, apparently realizing his mistake. “She had no idea it would become a rallying cry for African Americans and women and anyone else who felt marginalized because of what they...

Actually, although I have video of his speech, I don’t have video of the reception he got. You’ll have to trust David Freddoso and Eliana Johnson on that: The crowd gathered at the Conservative Political Action Conference rose to its feet as Chris Christie exited stage left…Christie’s remarks were highly anticipated, not only because of the lingering scandal but also because CPAC brass dinged him last year by leaving him off of the guest list. Today, the governor was greeted with murmurs and some quiet cheers; he drew more excitement from the audience as he proceeded…Christie returned to a familiar...

The unidentified friend was also attacked, as was the dog’s owner, Paul Clarke (pictured with Trigger), according to The Record. Police records state that Santillan and his friend were walking along a street at about 4:30 p.m. when the 115-pound dog, whose name was Trigger, lunged at them. As to what provoked the animal, the details, per investigators, remain sketchy. The canine initially bit the unidentified child on his hand, yet he was...

MORRIS PLAINS, N.J. - A New Jersey couple does not have to pay for their 18-year-old daughter's college education, a judge ruled Tuesday, CBS New York reports. Judge Peter Bogaard denied Rachel Canning's request $600 a month in support, high school tuition back pay, college tuition and legal fees. But he said he would revisit the issue of college tuition at the end of April, about a month after her financial aid forms are due. Earlier her lawyer said the parents of the high school honor student should have sought help for their daughter rather than cutting her off financially...

The parents, meanwhile, say that daughter Rachel Canning, 18, moved out voluntarily after refusing to abide by their rules. “We love our child and miss her. This is terrible. It’s killing me and my wife,” Rachel's father, Sean Canning, a town administrator and retired police officer, tells the Daily Record. “We have a child we want home. We’re not Draconian and now we’re getting hauled into...

New Jersey has become ground zero this year for legislative battles over gun control. The Brady Campaign ranked the state third in the nation for most restrictive firearms laws, yet anti-gun Democrats who control the legislature are determined to go all the way to gun bans and confiscation. The New Jersey Assembly's Law and Public Safety Committee was scheduled to hold a public hearing on Monday (postponed for snow) about a bill that reduces the maximum magazine capacity from 15 to 10. Since the legislation covers both detachable and fixed magazines, it has the effect of to banning popular, low-caliber...

Russian military servicemen have taken weapons from a radar base and naval training facility in Ukraine's Crimea region and urged personnel to side with the peninsula's "legitimate" leaders, Interfax news agency said on Sunday. It quoted a Ukrainian Defense Ministry source as saying the Russian servicemen had taken pistols, rifles and ammunition cartridges from the radar post near in the town of Sudak and taken them away by car. Another group of Russian military had also removed weapons from a Ukrainian navy training centre in the port city of Sevastopol, where Russia's Black Sea Fleet also has a base.

News organizations often disagree about what Americans need to know. MSNBC, for example, apparently believes that traffic in Fort Lee, N.J., is the crisis of our time. Fox News, on the other hand, chooses to cover the September 2012 attacks on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi more heavily than other networks. The American people, for their part, disagree about what they want to watch. But everyone should agree on this: The government has no place pressuring media organizations into covering certain stories. Unfortunately, the Federal Communications Commission, where I am a commissioner, does not agree. Last May the FCC...

Real Housewives Of New Jersey stars Teresa and Joe Giudice are reportedly close to making a plea deal with the US Attorney's office on 41 counts of fraud. An insider told Touch Weekly that Joe will serve at least five years in federal prison while Teresa, 41, could escape with a maximum of five years probation - if they plead guilty to the charges and if the judge approves the deal in court on Tuesday. That's a big break on the 50 years jail time the pair were initially threatened with. Joe, 41, is also likely to be given permission...

TRENTON New Jersey Democrats on Monday proposed legislation that would limit the ammunition capacity of gun magazines, 14 months after a massacre at a Connecticut elementary school revived a national debate about the role of guns in America. The bill, announced by the Legislature's Democratic leadership at a Statehouse news conference with parents of children slain at Sandy Hook Elementary School in December 2012, would reduce magazine capacity to 10 rounds, from 15. It also would ban semiautomatic rifles with fixed-magazine capacities that exceed 10 rounds. "When you meet families that lost their loved ones, it's pretty hard to explain...

Evidence from a dashboard camera on a police cruiser ended a nightmare for a New Jersey man facing false charges of eluding police, resisting arrest and assault. Prosecutors dismissed all the criminal charges against Marcus Jeter, 30, of Bloomfield, N.J. and instead indicted two Bloomfield police officers for falsifying reports and one of them for assault after the recording surfaced showing police officers beating Jeter during a traffic stop, according to WABC of New York. A third has pleaded guilty to tampering. Jeter's defense attorney requested all recorded evidence, but the police failed to hand over a second tape until...

WASHINGTON, February 21, 2014 – Hang around Republican circles long enough and you will hear, “We have got to stop these circular firing squads.” The logic is simple; Republicans are killing themselves with internecine wars instead of going out and defeating liberals. It is a great theory. Perhaps the best word for it is theory. As conservatives are discovering, though, what Republicans who complain about the circular firing squad really want is a semi-circular firing squad. These voices in the Republican Party want conservatives to stop shooting at them, while they try to take out insurgent conservatives. Texas Senator...
