BYRDSTOWN, Tenn. (WZTV) — After an eaglet was seen entangled in a fishing line at a reservoir on the Kentucky-Tennessee line, rescue is on the way. The Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) was made aware of the eaglets in distress Saturday by FOX 17 News, and multiple agencies have planned an intervention. These are a few weeks old, the rains have kept me pretty much grounded. The rains also killed a bunch of the newly hatched chicks. Some of the birds will try again, but they'll have to beat hurricans season to pull it off.Cattle Egret, Bubulcus ibis and Wood Stork, Mycteria americana.

From the St. Augustine gator farm rookery, every stage from eggs to half grown chicks. The smaller herons and egrets are just getting started, the stork and great egret chicks are growing like crazy. I should have gone earlier, the light would have been better for catching white feather details.

I hadn't planned a trip today, but my grandson needed to get to school early, for an ROTC drill, and I ended up at the gator farm. I've loaded some pics to my Photobucket, a lot more still to process. The smaller herons and egrets are just starting to nest and sit eggs, I'll go back next month for more.
