Joni Mitchell's music has quietly returned to Spotify after a two-year hiatus. She made headlines after joining Neil Young's boycott over the music-streaming site's deal to exclusively distribute The Joe Rogan Experience podcast. Young issued an ultimatum to the music service, saying: "They can have Rogan or Young. Not both." The comedian had come under fire for comments regarding COVID-19 and vaccines. "Irresponsible people are spreading lies that are costing people their lives," Mitchell said at the time. "I stand in solidarity with Neil Young and the global scientific and medical communities on this issue." Rogan's contract, reportedly worth an...

Neil Young has grudgingly returned his catalog to Spotify. He removed his music in 2022 in protest against the streaming service’s exclusive Joe Rogan podcast, accusing the production of spreading “misinformation.” In a new post on his website, Young made no bones about his dislike of Spotify, but explained his move was a reaction to Rogan’s show becoming available on other platforms too. “Spotify, the number one streamer of low-res music in the world – Spotify, where you get less quality than we made – will now be home of my music again,” he wrote. “My decision comes as music...

David Crosby, the singer, songwriter and guitarist and member of The Byrds and Crosby, Stills & Nash, has died. His wife, Jan Dance, told Variety Thursday, "It is with great sadness after a long illness, that our beloved David (Croz) Crosby has passed away. He was lovingly surrounded by his wife and soulmate Jan and son Django. Although he is no longer here with us, his humanity and kind soul will continue to guide and inspire us." She continues, "His legacy will continue to live on through his legendary music. Peace, love, and harmony to all who knew David and...

U.S.—Musician Neil Young has delivered a harsh ultimatum to Russian President Vladimir Putin, stating that he must either fully retreat from Ukraine or he will pull all of his songs from Spotify again. “It’s time to hit Putin where it hurts. Sanctions are not enough. That’s why I’m bringing out the big guns and threatening to pull all my songs from Spotify,” said Neil Young proudly. “Somebody’s gotta stand up to this guy, so why shouldn’t it be the most legendary musician of all time?” The message was promptly delivered to the Kremlin, but they were oddly unresponsive. Sources claim...

"We support Neil (Young) and we agree with him that there is dangerous disinformation being aired on Spotify's Joe Rogan podcast," the three (Crosby, Stills, Nash) said in a statement on Crosby's Twitter account…"until real action is taken to show that a concern for humanity must be balanced with commerce, we don't want our music, or the music we made together, to be on the same platform." “Hold my beer, Neil!” Stephen Stills might have yelled a few years ago. You see, amigos: Stephen Stills actually composed a song in honor of Fidel Castro, who holds the distinction of being...

Spotify appears to have quietly removed roughly 70 episodes of Joe Rogan's podcast after expressing support for the comedian, who's stirred controversy for spreading COVID misinformation. The apparent removal of the episodes, all of which were recorded years before the pandemic began, was spotted by JREMissing. The fan-made website uses Spotify's API to compare available episodes to a database of all episodes recorded. It's unclear when the episodes stopped being available. Roughly 40 episodes had previously disappeared from Spotify.

As musicians pull out of Spotify over Joe Rogan, Jon Stewart is coming to the podcast host's defense. The former host of The Daily Show on his podcast discussed artists like Neil Young leaving Spotify in protest of COVID-19 misinformation on Rogan's show The Joe Rogan Experience. Stewart criticized "overblown rhetoric" about Rogan, arguing he's not "an ideologue in any way" and is open to being corrected when he's wrong. When it comes to the Spotify protest, Stewart said that in general, his philosophy is "don't leave, don't abandon, don't censor, engage."

...So should Spotify ban him and start cracking down on anything deemed to be “misinformation” by critics or company-employed fact-checkers? If you’re a socialist like me, or even if you just have political preferences that are substantially to the left of Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, I’d argue that advocating for escalated corporate censorship is playing with fire....Does the Joe Rogan Experience at times broadcast “bad” or “wrong” ideas to a massive audience? Undoubtedly it does. But there’s also subjectivity at play, and to ignore how such blurred lines for acceptable discourse could be weaponized against left-wing voices is a dangerous miscalculation....

Neil Young’s music is back on Spotify. Last month, Young removed his library from Spotify after the service refused to censor Joe Rogan. But just a few weeks later, Young’s team quietly reuploaded his music, says FOX Business. That’s what you call an unsuccessful boycott. Neil Young’s music quietly returns to Spotify amid Joe Rogan protest https://t.co/MXBgyii5PS — Fox News (@FoxNews) February 15, 2022 Young cried that Rogan was spreading “false information about vaccines — potentially causing death to those who believe the disinformation.” He told Spotify it “can have Rogan or Young. Not both.” Spotify chose Rogan but added...

Neil Young and Charles Manson have a bizarrely intertwined history. The two men once shared a jam session at a time when Manson was an up and coming talent, one that had started to make waves in California and caught Young’s attention. Their paths then diverted, as Young became one of the most revered artists on the planet and Manson became the world’s most notorious cult leader. Manson would then later become the muse for Young’s track, ‘Revolution Blues’.

The Department of Homeland Security issued a bulletin on Tuesday that sounds precisely like a prelude to a totalitarian crackdown on political dissent from the preferred narratives of the Biden regime and the Deep State. Read the opening of the summary:The United States remains in a heightened threat environment fueled by several factors, including an online environment filled with false or misleading narratives and conspiracy theories, and other forms of mis- dis- and mal-information (MDM) introduced and/or amplified by foreign and domestic threat actors. These threat actors seek to exacerbate societal friction to sow discord and undermine public trust in...

Any parent can tell you why you shouldn’t indulge toddlers. Neil Young — memorably described by my twentysomething colleague Alexandra DeSanctis Marr as someone “I can’t remember having heard of” until he announced he didn’t like sharing the same electronic continent as Joe Rogan — is a toddler. He has the same grasp of reality as a toddler and, as of this winter, the same expectation that his demands will result in immediate actions. Indulge a temper tantrum, expect another. Young is 76 and hasn’t been in the national conversation in 30 years. He’s having the time of his life....

Two aging Canadian folk-singers, Neil Young and Joni Mitchell, the Adam and Eve of the ’60s, are protesting again.Against what? China’s genocide against the Muslim Uighurs? No, something more ominous. They are joining forces — and leveraging their playlist fans — to pressure Spotify to deplatform Joe Rogan. If you are not up on the modern zeitgeist, Joe Rogan is the most influential voice in America today. Joe Rogan is the straw that stirs the national conversation. So much so that Spotify was happy to land him at the $100 million price point. It’s worth noting that Spotify did not...

NEW YORK (AP) — Not satisfied with urging fellow musicians to leave Spotify, Neil Young wants the company’s employees to jump ship, too. In a message posted on his website Monday, Young said to Spotify employees that company CEO Daniel Ek is a bigger problem than Joe Rogan, who has stirred outcry over vaccine skepticism and his past use of racial slurs on his podcast. “Ek pulls the strings,” Young said. “Get out of that place before it eats up your soul. The only goals stated by Ek are about numbers — not art, not creativity.”

You tend to Harvest what you sow. Not Neil Young, he was lucky. Despite a 40 plus year drug and alcohol fueled musical careerNeil Young grew up to be a reformed substance abuser (Imus would have called him a dry drunk, and he would know) who feels that making one smart decision in his entire life - when faced with the choice of quitting drugs and alcohol or imminent death he chose life: bully for him. He now lives under the illusion that this one smart thing makes him an expert on everything.Still crazy after all these yearsNeil Young takes...

Could you imagine a scenario where aging rockers Neil Young and Joni Mitchell could team up and force Rush Limbaugh to make an apology, and possibly moderate his content going forward? Yet, that’s exactly what happened last week when the two no longer relevant Boomer artists threatened to pull their music from Spotify to force the platform to seemingly pressure Joe Rogan to perform a public mea culpa for two recent episodes of his hugely successful “Joe Rogan Experience” podcast. It doesn’t matter that the vast majority of Spotify users had no idea who Neil Young or Joni Mitchell were...

Legacy artists are continuing to mount pressure on Spotify to remove their star podcaster, Joe Rogan, over “misinformation” and other vague transgressions. Perhaps the biggest transgression of all is that Rogan refuses to fit into their narrow, Boomer box.At first it was funny, the idea of Neil Young thinking he had any leverage over the most popular podcaster in the world; a man they paid nearly $100 million to for the exclusive rights to his groundbreaking program. It has become increasingly concerning as others such as Barbara Streisand and Joni Mitchell have joined in, threatening to pull their music over...
