NEW YORK (AP) — Not satisfied with urging fellow musicians to leave Spotify, Neil Young wants the company’s employees to jump ship, too.
In a message posted on his website Monday, Young said to Spotify employees that company CEO Daniel Ek is a bigger problem than Joe Rogan, who has stirred outcry over vaccine skepticism and his past use of racial slurs on his podcast.
“Ek pulls the strings,” Young said. “Get out of that place before it eats up your soul. The only goals stated by Ek are about numbers — not art, not creativity.”

This guy is the soul sucker. Maybe we’d all have been better off if he burned out instead of fading away. He seems incredibly toxic lately. Though he’s not really unique in that regard he’s got the age, wisdom and experience to know better.
What a drama queen. It’s a podcast. You don’t like it, don’t listen. Sheesh.
A long time ago Ronnie Van Zant suggested young kiss the Southern man’s ass in song......I second that sentiment.
That’d be great actually… if they became the anti-woke company it will probably gain far better talent.
He’s a hippie....always has been...always will be. And an intolerant one at that.
“What a drama queen. It’s a podcast. You don’t like it, don’t listen. Sheesh.”
No kidding. What is going on with these old, burnt out hippies? It used to be “fight the man”, now it’s OBEY. They love censorship. I don’t get it.
Sure, get out and live on...what? They don’t all have millions squirreled away.
Neil Young knows wrote a song about soul. Loved the tune but based on the lyrics I am not sure he is to be taken too seriously on the topic of soul.
Oh hello Mr. Soul I dropped by to pick up a reason
For the thought that I caught that my head is the event of the season
Why in crowds just a trace of my face could seem so pleasin’
I’ll cop out to the change but a stranger is putting the tease on
I was down on a frown when the messenger brought me a letter
I was raised by the praise of a fan who said I upset her
Any girl in the world could have easily known me better
She said you’re strange but don’t change and I let her
In a while will the smile on my face turn to plaster
Stick around while the clown who is sick does the trick of disaster
For the race of my head and my face is moving much faster
Is it strange I should change I don’t know why don’t you ask her
Is it strange I should change I don’t know why don’t you ask her
Is it strange I should change I don’t know why don’t you ask her
Is it strange I should change I don’t know why don’t you ask her
They didn’t steal Neil’s soul, he just left....
Says the guy that is worth, by estimates, $200 million
From a Billboard article.....Here’s What It Costs Neil Young and Joni Mitchell to Leave Spotify The artists are each giving up more than 10% of their annual revenue to take a stand against COVID-19 misinformation, Billboard estimates. For Young, personally, the decision to pull his music from Spotify will cost him about $754,000 annually, by Billboard ‘s calculations.
Neil Young sells 50% of publishing rights to his entire song catalog to UK investment fund ..... The deal gives Hipgnosis the rights to the worldwide copyright and income interests from 1,180 songs composed by Young, and has been reported to have cost around $150 million.
His music and voice are horrendous. But, it’s amazing how capitalistic aging hippies are. Especially the rich ones that made their money through capitalism, while decrying it, and now moved to quaint towns in New England, Asheville, Boise and other places they’ve taken aim to destroy with their nonsense.
How any of these hipsters listen to these clowns is beyond me. The hypocrisy of the Left knows no bounds.
The lyrics to Mr. Soul reminds me of how much I thoroughly enjoy the lyrics from the jazz age, big band era, or from the Great American Standards songbook.
Where does Neil Young even find the time to have his secretary write this crap for, since he spends most of his days filming the little boys playing on the field at schools and parks all day??
And it's Roberts who also offers an insight into Young's political stances. 'Neil doesn't really read newspapers; if he watches TV and sees a CNN special... he wants to do a record within two days.' It's Roberts who then has to dissuade him..."
Artists hate music streamers who own hosting platforms.
They yearn for the era where artists controlled distribution of music.
Neil Young hoped that his actions would damage Spotify financially.
That was a matter of numbers and money, not art and creativity.
“Well I hope Neil Young will remember”
“Spotify don’t need him around anyhow”
When are these companies going to learn. The proper response is, “You don’t have to like everything that is on our platform. We as a company do not take an opinion on any of the content. If it’s not illegal, we don’t take it down. If you don’t like the content, take it up with the creator.”
Neil Young, a Canadian, never sang about what the Canadian government did to the Native people of Canada, how they forced them into schools and denied them of their language and culture and of how they killed so many and placed them in mass graves. Neil spend too much time singing about the Black man in the south, while millions of Blacks in the north are consumed with drugs, alcohol, living in poverty, and are being used by the Democrat party for votes and are then forgotten after each election. Neil, the millionaire who is claims to be a liberal and is quite the opposite
These sh***y CITY kids are the worst libs have ever raised.
These kids if they had the power would string up their own lib parents!
LOL. Their souls already have been sold to satan. Dopes.
