BUDAPEST, Hungary -- A Hungarian far-right politician urged the government to draw up a list of Jews who pose a "national security risk", stirring outrage among Jewish leaders who saw echoes of fascist policies that led to the Holocaust. Marton Gyongyosi, a leader of Hungary´s third-strongest political party Jobbik, said the list was necessary because of heightened tensions following the brief conflict in Gaza and should include members of parliament.

Heading into Monday's final debate and with just over two weeks until Election Day, President Barack Obama and Republican nominee Mitt Romney are now tied nationally, according the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll. Obama and Romney both get 47 percent among likely voters in the latest edition of the poll, conducted entirely in the aftermath of the second presidential debate last Monday. In the last national NBC/WSJ poll, which was conducted before debate season began, the president held a narrow, three-point lead over his GOP challenger, 49 percent to 46 percent.

EL AL Airlines. Israel’s nation airline, will no longer provide flights to Cairo. The number of Israelis flying to Cairo has greatly decreased and EL AL Airlines will no longer be flying almost-empty airplanes to Cairo. The StarTribune also reported on September 16 that the rising operating costs and the necessary security is making it almost impossible to finance the flights to Cairo. With the number of Israelis that travel to Cairo dropping, it is not fiscally feasible to keep the flights going.

It is likely that someone at the Internal Revenue Service illegally leaked confidential donor information showing a contribution from Mitt Romney’s political action committee to the National Organization for Marriage, says the group. Newt Gingrich has opened a major lead nationally over Mitt Romney, who is still stuck in roughly the same place he has been throughout the year, according to new NBC/WSJ poll numbers. At the same time, Gingrich has real red flags for a general election, the survey found. In the GOP matchups, Gingrich is at 40 percent to Romney's 23 percent.
