’d have loved nothing more than to give Ghostbusters a glowing review. Seriously! Can you imagine a better troll? Extolling the virtues of a film that my loyal readership has been warring with social justice warriors over for months? But I can’t. You see, I strive to be honest with my audience. I went into Ghostbusters with a clear and impartial mindset, like some tall, slim, and devastatingly handsome statue of justice. (But no blindfold. It would be a crime to cover up these eyes.)

Dinesh D’Souza’s latest film, Hillary’s America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party, is off to a strong start at the box office after opening to an estimated $77,500 from just three theaters this weekend. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Hillary’s America — D’Souza’s third film after 2016: Obama’s America and America: Imagine the World Without Her — scored a $26,000 per-theater average, good enough to earn the title of the year’s top per-theater average for a political documentary, besting the documentary Weiner, which took in $16,835 from five theaters during its opening weekend in May.

Kate McKinnon's character in Ghostbusters is gay, the film's director has confirmed. Speaking to The Daily Beast, director Paul Feig played it coy, before admitting the comedian's character was a lesbian. The actress - who is the first openly gay female SNL star - plays wacky inventor Jillian Holtzmann in the highly-anticipated reboot, which opened on Friday and also stars Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig and Leslie Jones. Asked if Kate's flirty character was gay, Paul answered: 'What do you think?' before nodding yes, the website reports. 'I hate to be coy about it,' the 53-year-old said. 'But when you're dealing...

Salesa calls Maui’s depiction “obese,” and thinks children might get the wrong message about their bodies. “The environment our kids grow up in and what they are exposed to have a role to play. Disney movies are very influential on our children. It is great that Moana is the lead. However, it is disappointing that Maui, one of our beloved historical ancestors from hundreds of years ago, who was a very strong man [and] a skilled navigator, is depicted to be so overweight in this kids’ movie.”

The opening scenes of the show depict Cerci getting ready for her trial before the seven septons. Now we knew that she would never stand trial didn't we? Well, we weren't disappointed. (I wasn't at least) Loras confessed to everything. The deal was that he would be released after Cersi's trial, but Margaery didn't know that he would have the star carved into his forehead. Meanwhile, Pycelle gets lured off and meets his end at the hand of the children while Qyburn looks on. Pycelle was a go along get along guy. He should have kept his mouth shut, but...

However, this movie moved me. "and that's all I have to say about that". :) (posting this in General/Chat. Don't want to break any rules or ruffle any feathers)

Roland Emmerich has a problem. A very gay problem. You may know Emmerich as the guy that directs ridiculous summer blockbusters where all sorts of landmarks get all sorts of blowed up. Independency Day, The Day After Tomorrow, 2012. He specializes in wholesale destruction. You might even call it apocalypse-porn. What you might not know is the Emmerich himself is gay, a fact that’s only really been talked about for the last 10 years or so, and even then not so much. He’s made a few donations to gay film organizations, but apart from that the closest thing he’d ever...

FORT HUACHUCA — Even the stars were a little starstruck. It’s one thing to portray the military in Hollywood, as the cast of the blockbuster “Independence Day” did 20 years ago in a story that featured people of Earth banding together to topple alien invaders. Much of the cast has regrouped, with some new cast members, for “Independence Day: Resurgence,” the much anticipated sequel that hits theaters this Thursday. But to visit the troops on their turf and see what they do to defend the U.S. is quite another thing. Two stars from the new film, Jessie T. Usher and...

The first “Star Wars” spinoff, “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” is in crisis, and the movie will have to go into expensive reshoots over the summer, sources exclusively confirmed to Page Six. The much-anticipated “Rogue One” is due for release on Dec. 16, but we’re told bosses at Disney are not fully satisfied with the first cut from director Gareth Edwards. One Hollywood source told us, “The execs at Disney are not happy with the movie, and ‘Rogue One’ will have to go back into four weeks of expensive reshoots in July.”

The relaunch of Marvel’s red, white and blue avenger puts the ideological views of German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s critics into the mouth of Nazi villain “Red Skull.” “I have just come from Europe — my homeland, in fact. And do you know what I saw there? It was an invading army. These so-called ‘refugees’ — millions of them — marching across the continent, bringing their fanatical beliefs and their crime with them,” Captain America’s nemesis says. “They attack our women, and bomb our cities. And how do our leaders respond? Do they push them back and enforce the borders, as...

Judd Apatow (“Trainwreck”) defended his “Freaks and Geeks” collaborator Paul Feig on his “Ghostbusters” film, comparing the haters — who disagree with the all-female cast — to Donald Trump supporters. Apatow told Uproxx in an interview, “I would assume there’s a very large crossover of people who are doubtful Ghostbusters will be great and people excited about the Donald Trump candidacy. I would assume they are the exact same people.”

The remake of Roots has gained widespread critical acclaim – but not from Snoop Dogg, who posted a short video on Instagram on Monday criticising the show, and suggesting that African Americans should not watch it. In the video, the rapper said that he was fed up with watching films and TV shows that depicted the abuse of black Americans. “12 Years a Slave, Roots, Underground, I can’t watch none of that shit,” Snoop Dogg said, also taking aim at the Steve McQueen-directed Oscar-winning film and the WGN TV series about slaves in Georgia escaping via an underground railroad, which...

I vividly recall the original iteration of the TV miniseries Roots. It was January 1977, and I was 17. Like most young people that age, my life was rapidly growing independent of my parents, who were increasingly consumed by the vagaries of their workplaces. Yet, when the series debuted, it was must-see TV in the Johnson household. We stopped what we were doing and watched it together and enthusiastically each night. We even cheered during the show, notable since we were often too darned middle class to cheer while watching football games on TV. The miniseries cleaned up during awards...

Captain America: Civil War is the 897th installment — or something like it — in the Marvel comic franchise. This time round, the superheroes take sides, with the marketing asking if you’re #TeamCap or #TeamIronMan but not if you’re #TeamNeither, as would be most useful in my case. I swear this is the last Marvel film I will see as I never get anything out of them and whatever I say only sets the fans against me, which is not what you want at my age.

Stephen King tends to be one of the biggest cheerleaders for adaptations of his own work. People who follow him on Twitter know that they can always count on him to post trailers or send out reminders when new episodes of 11/22/63 are available, but one of his recent tweets about director Nikolaj Arcel’s adaptation of his Dark Tower books goes a lot further than just saying how excited he is for it. In fact, it might even be a really big twist for how the movie is going to handle the original story’s surprise ending—the real ending, that is....
