A U.S. Navy photo posted to X is being mocked for showing a commander shooting an AR-platform rifle with the scope mounted backwards. The photo shows a commander, identified as Commander Cameron Yaste by the Defense Blog, shooting an AR-platform rifle with what appears to be a Trijicon VCOG scope atop it. Problem: the scope is mounted backwards. This means the commander had no sight picture whatsoever as he fired the gun. This was shared today by the official US Navy Instagram. When you see it try not to break your phone. pic.twitter.com/udV0hyvdmJ — Zachary Bell (@zacharyebell) April 9, 2024

CHARLIE'S WIFE, LUCY, had been after him for several weeks to paint the seat on their toilet. Finally, he got around to doing it while Lucy was out. After finishing, he left to take care of another matter before she showered. BEFORE GETTING IN the shower, she sat on the toilet. As she tried to stand up, she realized that the not-quite-dry epoxy paint had glued her to the toilet seat. About that time, Charlie got home and realized her predicament. They both pushed and pulled without any success whatsoever. Finally, in desperation, Charlie undid the toilet seat bolts. Lucy wrapped...

Before the lunch break, prosecutors turned the questioning to yet another alleged shakedown by Blagojevich -- this one involving then-U.S. Rep. Rahm Emanuel and an experimental school on the Northwest Side operated by the Academy for Urban School Leadership. Emanuel, now the White House chief of staff, had long been a close political ally of Blagojevich and even was elected to succeed Blagojevich in Congress when he became governor. The academy facility at 3400 N. Austin Blvd. was in Emanuel’s district, which of course was Blagojevich’s old district too. The academy, which trains future teachers and focuses on developing programs...

CAMP FALLUJAH, Iraq (May 9, 2006) -- Duty in the turret of Regimental Combat Team 5’s seven-ton trucks just got clearer with new ballistic-glass and steel encased firing positions. The new turrets, called Marine Corps Armored Turret Systems, are being installed on seven-ton trucks, the first in an upgrade to give gunners greater visibility and beefed-up protection for convoy operations. “The advantage of these turrets is the protection it provides the gunner,” said Master Sgt. Adam Lyttle, the 42-year-old Motor Transport chief for the regiment. “The most noticeable change is the ballistic glass. They also have higher turrets and they...

Mounted Police to Patrol Houston Airport Sunday December 21, 2003 1:46 AM HOUSTON (AP) - George Bush Intercontinental Airport officials, looking to bolster patrols of their 11,000-acre facility, have decided to hoof it. A volunteer mounted police force called the Airport Rangers will patrol the perimeter of the city's largest airport, the Houston Airport System announced Friday. ``Horses can go where vehicles can't go and we can also have the ability of people riding through the woods,'' said airport director Rick Vacar, who came up with the idea. The mounted patrol, which will include off-duty law enforcement officers, will use...

Carl Norton, the lead training officer, observes U.S. Border Patrol agents who are attempting to qualify for the agency's horse patrol units in the Tucson Sector. Friday was the last day of training for the three-week course. (Mark Levy-Herald/Review) HEREFORD -- What is past is not necessarily just history. In today's world, the U.S. Border Patrol is employing an old method to help monitor the U.S.-Mexico border to help stop the flow of illegal immigrants and drugs. The agency is re-establishing horse patrols to reach many of the trails used by people and drug smugglers in remote areas of Arizona...
