U.S. Navy Mocked for Photo of Commander With Rifle Scope Mounted Backwards

A U.S. Navy photo posted to X is being mocked for showing a commander shooting an AR-platform rifle with the scope mounted backwards.

The photo shows a commander, identified as Commander Cameron Yaste by the Defense Blog, shooting an AR-platform rifle with what appears to be a Trijicon VCOG scope atop it. Problem: the scope is mounted backwards. This means the commander had no sight picture whatsoever as he fired the gun.

He was demonstrating what a good shot he was - by looking through the scope backwards the target appeared farther away, and with the cap on, it was simulating night-time.

What an idiot, he knows how to pose with a rifle but doesn’t even know how to hold it right, so it’s no surprise that he’s clueless about the sights too.

Happy to see that the guys and girls in the armorer’s shop got a laugh at his expense though. OR maybe he installed the scope his own self.

That photo cracks me up. Everyone else looks gaunt, slim, hard and minimal. And there is Gore, puffy, pasty, new uniforms and gear, and festooned with every piece of gear in the US inventory, complete with boonie hat.
There’s just a different feel in that photo than any other Vietnam photos out there.

It is very disturbing that anyone with military experience did not instantly realize that the scope was mounted backwards or would mount it backwards. How far our once admired military has fallen now that it has been taken over by the Left.

Once I was at the qual firing range; had finished shooting and a couple of us were helping a squad member assigned to loading magazines out of boredom.

The group noticed that when some people passed I was turning and facing in various directions so they asked what I was doing.

\/\/ayne: "Well, some people in our battery I don't trust with a loaded weapon so I won't turn my back to them when they have one."

"Why?" they asked.

\/\/ayne: "Some because of stupidity, others I suspect of being evil."

This led to the group guessing why I avoided having my back to particular unit members, shouting "Evil!" or "Stupid!" in unison when I would turn as someone passed.
