t’s a Guggen-crime. The Upper East Side museum banned a Brooklyn high school for life after its students were deemed too rowdy on a recent visit — a move that some call discipline and others discrimination. A group of about 80 kids from Downtown Brooklyn’s Science Skills Center HS were kicked out after just 20 minutes after a student allegedly spat off the museum’s swirling rotunda lobby and another threw a penny off its winding walkway. The coin was rumored to have hit a security guard. It was only a handful of troublemakers, but the whole group of ninth- and...

Excerpt......"As potentially the first African-American first lady, I was also the focus of another set of questions and speculations, conversations sometimes rooted in the fears and misperceptions of others," she told the class of 2015. "Was I too loud or too emasculating? Or was I too soft? Too much of a mom and not enough of a career woman?" Directing her remarks directly toward her African American audience, Obama spoke from her own experience on how racial inequality impacts opportunity. "The road ahead is not going to be easy," Obama said, "It never is, especially for folks like you and...

First Lady Michelle Obama urged students at Tuskegee University, a historically black university in Alabama, to remain involved in civic life during a time of tension regarding race relations across the country. At the school's commencement address, the First Lady listed scenarios in which African-Americans feel they encounter systemic discrimination, such as "nagging worries that you're going to get stopped or pulled over for absolutely no reason." She said those feelings are "real," but disengaging is not an option. "I want to be very clear that those feelings are not an excuse to just throw up our hands and give...

By Cheryl Chumley First Lady Michelle Obama suggested at an opening of the new $420 million Whitney Museum in New York City that minorities rarely feel welcome at such venues. “You see, there are so many kids in this country who look at places like museums and concert halls and other cultural centers and they think to themselves, ‘well, that’s not a place for me, for someone who looks like me, for someone who comes from my neighborhood.’” She then said she could “guarantee you that right now, there are kids living less than a mile from here who...

President Obama addressed a Working Mothers Town Hall during a brief trip to Charlotte, North Carolina on Wednesday. The issue of pay inequality was brought up and the president addressed the matter of equal pay in the White House, but not in the way you would think. "Let me tell you, now, Michelle would point out First Ladies get paid nothing," the president said to laughter. "So there’s clearly not equal pay in the White House when it comes to her and me." "But before we were in the White House, I wanted to make sure Michelle got paid as...

And if Marian was willing to admit publicly in 2004 that she was not happy with Barack having a white mother, we can only surmise that Craig and Michelle must have gotten an earful about white people behind the closed doors of the Robinson home. After the release of the WTTW video, the question is: what kind of racist messages did the siblings hear from Mother Robinson while growing up?

Just a quick update, as you organize to file your income taxes, on the Obama family's lavish travel expenses that your money is underwriting. Financing might be a better word. Barack and Michelle Obama have traveled more than any other first couple -- doing Spain, Africa, China, South America, among other distant spots. Often they're accompanied by friends and Michelle Obama's Mom, Marian Robinson, who's been living in the White House at taxpayer expense since her son-in-law's inauguration. And in some cases, Mrs. Robinson's friends tag along.

Michelle Obama has had an awkward start to her visit to Japan as she was pictured towering over Emperor Akihito and stumbling as she tried to bow, shake his hand and curtsey at once. The First Lady, dressed in a florid combination of a blazer and skirt, dwarfed the Emperor in her silver stilettos, while he maintained his composure and smiled politely. She then squatted slightly while shaking his hand, seemingly trying to disguise the difference of height between them. Mrs Obama, who is 5ft 9in tall, also caused embarrassment earlier in the day when she grabbed Akie Abe, wife...

A middle school teacher in Louisiana received one of the most disgusting-looking lunches imaginable and posted a picture of it online yesterday. The post, titled "I'm a teacher. My school cafeteria served this today," said that the meal below was supposed to be "ham:" Unsurprisingly, the teacher decided not to eat her "meal" and threw the meat away after taking the picture. She also plans on sending the picture to her school's food director "who is supposed to be enforcing federal regulations."

Long before Michelle Obama became First Lady, her mother had misgivings about her marrying a young man named Barack Obama — because he was biracial. In a Chicago TV interview that aired during Obama’s 2004 U.S. Senate campaign — and newly resurrected by Michelle Obama biographer Peter Slevin in a book due out next month — Marion Robinson confessed to being “a little bit” wary about her future son-in-law being the product of a white mom and black dad. But it could’ve been worse, according to Robinson. “That didn’t concern me as much as had he been completely white,” Robinson...

One gallon of jet fuel burned creates about 19 pounds of C02. A 747 burns about 25,000 pounds of fuel per hour. A round trip from Washington DC to LA would take about 11- 11 1/2 hours. That comes to about 287,000 pounds of fuel. And that results in the production of about 5,462,500 pounds of CO2. A 757 burns about 6,000 pounds of jet fuel per hour. A similar round trip to LA would burn about 69,000 pounds of fuel and create about 1,310,000 pounds of CO2. Barack Obama and Michelle Obama both traveled to Los Angeles on the...

Share2.3K Tweet91 Share2.6K 145 Email8 Michelle Obama has come out swinging in support of her husband's views on seeking treatment for mental health issues. The woman, who has decimated our children's school lunches, reducing them to unattractive mush in the name of "promoting healthy eating habits," relayed to Newseum on Wednesday that Barack Obama strongly believed that receiving treatment for mental health disorders was a "sign of strength," not weakness. Of course, it was just another way to promote Obamacare and its benefits in light of the upcoming Supreme Court challenge. According to CNSnews.com: "It's time to tell everyone who's...

(CNSNews.com) - First lady Michelle Obama said Wednesday at the Newseum in Washington, D.C., that her husband, President Barack Obama “believes strongly” that getting support and treatment for a mental health issue “isn’t a sign of weakness, it's a sign of strength.” “It’s time to tell everyone who’s dealing with a mental health issue that they’re not alone, and that getting support and treatment isn’t a sign of weakness, it's a sign of strength,” said Mrs. Obama. “That’s something that my husband believes strongly as president, because in this country when you're fighting an illness whether that’s mental or physical...

Celebrating the fifth anniversary of “Let’s Move!” First Lady Michelle Obama explains to Cooking Light magazine that she had to get empowered in her own household to eliminate processed food. Part of that experience was her personal fight against boxed macaroni and cheese, which, she admits, her kids loved. At the time, her chef friend Sam Kass explained that boxed macaroni and cheese wasn’t “real food” and so the family shouldn’t eat it. “My kids loved the macaroni and cheese in a box,” she explained. “And he said, if it’s not real food then we’re not going to do it.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. – As Congress readies to reauthorize Michelle Obama’s Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act this year, students and parents continue to post photographic evidence of the program’s shortcomings. The School Nutrition Association is weighing in, too. ” … Some of USDA’s regulations under the law have unnecessarily increased costs and waste for school meal programs and caused many students to swap healthy school meals for junk food fare,” says SNA CEO Patricia Montague in a news release. The group points out 1.4 million fewer children are eating school lunches since the rules championed by First Lady Michelle Obama were implemented....

Talk about a fierce frown from FLOTUS! Michelle Obama's disapproving expression while meeting the new leader of Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, Jan. 27, said it all -- and it's gone viral. The First Lady, 51, was snapped alongside her husband Barack Obama in Riyadh, paying respects to King Salman bin Abdulaziz, the successor of the late King Abdullah, during what was a quick stop in the country for the funeral. As King Salman shook hands with the President, the First Lady was photographed frowning at the royal. At times, she looked rather uncomfortable and annoyed, even, as she and her...

Queen of Mean” Michelle Obama has forced out another White House staffer – the First Family’s personal chef! Kitchen magician Sam Kass got fed up with Michelle’s snippy comments and told the Obamas to take his apron and shove it, insiders told The
National ENQUIRER. “He just couldn’t take it – the relentless nitpicking, over petty little details that drove him insane. She thinks she’s Marie Antoinette!” a White House insider told The ENQUIRER. “It has nothing to do with Sam’s cooking, which is superb. But you could be Wolfgang Puck and Michelle wouldn’t be happy. She’ll find some reason...

Barack and Michelle Obama, speaking to People Magazine, of all disappointments, shared the disheartening news that they have experienced what they called racism. Barack, for example, apparently has had trouble, before he was president, hailing a cab in Chicago, to which an immediate thought might occur to anyone who has been to Chicago: Who hasn't? Also, Barack, at a black-tie event, when he, too, was in festive livery, apparently was asked by another guest if he would get them a cup of coffee. For her recollection, Michelle came up with a visit to a Target store as first lady. She...

Michelle Obama was lying about a racist incident at her September 29, 2011 trip to Target in a People Magazine story, Gotnews.com has learned. The careful orchestrated press event occurred in Alexandria, Virginia’s Route 1 Target store. Obama has told two different, conflicting accounts about her Target experience. The first time she claimed she helped someone because of her height in a 2012 appearance with David Letterman. Now she’s claiming there was a racist incident in People Magazine. She is also lying about having any interactions with customers. In fact, the store was under strict control by the Secret Service...
