Celebrating the fifth anniversary of “Let’s Move!” First Lady Michelle Obama explains to Cooking Light magazine that she had to get empowered in her own household to eliminate processed food.

Part of that experience was her personal fight against boxed macaroni and cheese, which, she admits, her kids loved.

At the time, her chef friend Sam Kass explained that boxed macaroni and cheese wasn’t “real food” and so the family shouldn’t eat it.

“My kids loved the macaroni and cheese in a box,” she explained. “And he said, if it’s not real food then we’re not going to do it.”

I dislike the woman but boxed macaroni and cheese is disgusting. Children need to eat the real thing which is totally delicious and nutritious.

The “Let’s Move!” I am looking forward to is when barack and Moosechelle move out of the White House. I realize it will need to be fumigated for at least a few months but I will be celebrating when they move their sorry azzes out.

Well Mrs. Michelle Antionette could afford to daily fresh food. I’m unemployed, and many food that are cheap like that box of Macaroni with Cheese is like .99 and many are not healthy but darn it, it fills your tummy. Who is she fooling? These people do not live in the real world.

"Nag, nag, nag." - Moochelle Obama.

If you're a very low information, hard core Obama voter, you'd think she'd make an outstanding President of the United States. A mind is a terrible thing to waste.

The noodles are likely not too bad, but the cheese is cheesy.

I've not heard of any kid dying from the stuff. Origins go back to 1916 and more recently during the Depression.

Enriched Macaroni product (wheat flour, niacin, ferrous sulfate [iron], thiamin mononitrate [vitamin B1], riboflavin [vitamin B2], folic acid); cheese sauce mix (whey, milkfat, milk protein concentrate, salt, sodium tripolyphosphate, contains less than 2% of citric acid, lactic acid, sodium phosphate, calcium phosphate, yellow 5, yellow 6, enzymes, cheese culture)

“explained that boxed macaroni and cheese wasn’t “real food” “

Damn communist. She needs to shut up. Nobody voted for her. Kraft Mac and Cheese is a part of Americana, and there’s nothing wring with it. Broke people are very grateful for it.
Not everyone has a personal chef like fat ass.

I agree, but I don't bother to make it because my kids will only eat the box stuff.

No, they live in a world of steak and lobster and caviar and champagne.

Over the years I too could only afford mac and cheese for my kids, and they loved it.

I dream of the day when they are gone.

So sorry to hear of your troubles! I was in your spot two years ago. Hope things get better for you. Look for bargains on pasta and cheese - so much better than the boxed variety. But, of course, it’s none of my business - sincerely.

Anything to say about Jordanian pilots put into cages, doused with gasoline, and burnt alive?

that she had to get empowered in her own household to eliminate processed food

Empowered? Did Kraft have some armed security guards there preventing her from boiling some of her own pasta and baking it with cheese and the other ingredients? Did they use the cattle prod on her when she tried to get some cheddar from the refrigerator and then put the blue box in her limp hand so that she had to use it? Or did all three of her little whiners demand Kraft and she just gave up and boiled it up?

Macaroni and cheese was a filler for my growing kids.

Sixty years later, they've made it into some high class gourmet meal fit for a king.

I'm ashamed to say, I also fed them spaghetios (sp).

Nothing wrong with anything on that list. And it flat tastes good. Fast to make. While we would all like Thomas Jeffersons recipe, with cheddar carved from the wheel, there is this thing called the real world.

I hear that! I first saw the boxed variety last Thanksgiving and was appalled. But the kiddies would only eat that. We’ve gotta get them started early on good food.
