LA CENTER, KY (KFVS) - An earthquake near La Center, Kentucky was felt in parts of Illinois and Missouri early on Sunday morning. According to the National Weather Service in Paducah and the USGS, a magnitude 3.5 was recorded about 8.7 miles north of La Center and 24.2 miles west of Paducah. It happened around 1:12 a.m. and had a depth of about 8.3 miles. The quake was felt in Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri and Tennessee. The furthest the quake was reportedly felt was in Miller, Mo. which is 267 miles away from the epicenter.

The Faculty Council Committee on Race Relations will soon release a series of video podcasts addressing what they have learned about diversity and racism. Since last May, the committee of 12 faculty members, staff and students has met weekly for two hours to identify, discuss and develop solutions to racial issues on campus. Graduate student Jonathan Butler, who went on a hunger strike last fall demanding then-UM System President Tim Wolfe’s resignation, and interim President Mike Middleton are both committee members. Last fall, the committee released a series of videos laying out their goals and discussing their progress.

The Missouri House of Representatives passed a “Constitutional Carry” bill Monday, protecting the rights of citizens to carry handguns without a permit. House Bill 1468 — introduced by Representative Eric Burlison — passed by an overwhelming 112-37 vote and will now head to the state Senate.

Melissa Click, the former University of Missouri assistant professor who was fired after she tried to block a student journalist from covering a campus protest, suggested in a recent interview that her public termination was a matter of “racial politics.” “This is all about racial politics,” she told The Chronicle of Higher Education in an interview published Sunday. “I’m a white lady. The Missouri Legislature has passed a budget that would eliminate taxpayer funding and reimbursements for abortion facilities, depriving Planned Parenthood in the state of an estimated $380,000. The move means foregoing $8 million the state would have received from the federal government, but the budget replaces that amount with Missouri’s own revenue. The money will now instead go, Senate Budget Chairman Kurt Schaefer explains, “to rural health clinics, [Federally Qualified Health Centers], and county health departments, of which there are over 580 across the state,” which he says provide all the same non-abortion services as Planned Parenthood does. Missouri lawmakers just sent their governor a budget that would take away hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars from abortion groups in the state. Missourinet reports the legislators approved the budget on Thursday with a provision to give up $8 million in federal dollars, part of which would have gone to Planned Parenthood abortion clinics. Instead, the state budgeted money to support community health centers that don’t do abortions, according to the report. LOUIS (CN) — A federal judge has ordered the release of witness names and some evidence in the fatal shooting of Michael Brown in 2014, but only to parties involved in the Brown family's wrongful death lawsuit.     U.S. District Judge E. A shooting near Washington University that left a woman injured and prompted a campus alert may have stemmed from a road rage incident.Investigators were looking for a man driving a black SUV Wednesday afternoon, saying he fired shots at the occupants of a silver car on Forsyth Boulevard near the campus' student union building.A woman inside the car was struck in the forearm and treated at the scene. The Coalition of Graduate Workers claimed an overwhelming victory Tuesday when 84 percent of graduate assistant ballots supported forming a union at the University of Missouri.
