Hmmmmmm....enemies close? Obviously, most political observers have heard the rumor that Mitt Romney was in the running to become President Donald Trump’s Secretary of State. Until yesterday, however, it was just that - a rumor. There were stories about meetings, deals, and discussions, but nothing concrete. Then, Vice President-elect Mike Pence appeared on “Face the Nation.” It’s a “rumor” no more.

Say what you will about Donny Deutsch, but the man-about-Manhattan and the Hamptons moves in the Trump social circle and is well-connected there. So attention must be paid to Deutsch’s declaration on today’s With All Due Respect. Asked by Mark Halperin whether the talk about Romney being considered for Secretary of State is “real, whether Romney might end up with the job,” Deutsch responded: “somebody very, very, very high up in the inner [Trump] circle yesterday told me it was very, very real,” and that this person was “very excited about it.” View the video here.

The National Council of La Raza says there is no way more Latino voters supported Donald Trump than supported former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney in 2012. According to exit poll data, Trump received 29 percent of the Latino vote, compared to the 27 percent Romney received in 2012. While Trump lost the Latino vote Tuesday night, his 36 percentage point margin of defeat among Latinos was also smaller than Romney’s 44 percentage point loss to Barack Obama. Wednesday on Fox News Channel’s “The Five,” co-panelists Kimberly Guilfoyle and Juan Williams reacted to the minorities, particularly in the state of Florida, that had voted for President-elect Donald Trump in Tuesday’s election. Guilfoyle noted out Trump had outperformed these voter compared then-GOP presidential nominee former Gov. Mitt Romney (R-MA) in the 2012 presidential, to which Williams suggested it might have something to do with those voters being “not comfortable with a woman as a leader.”

James Boys, senior US policy expert and associate professor of international political studies at Richmond University, told CNBC Monday that Trump is not waging a campaign that can win the election. Mitt Romney, George Bush 41 and George Bush 43, as well as other mainstream Republican party figures, are set to endorse Libertarian Presidential Candidate Gary Johnson next week, say sources within the "Never Trump" movement and other disaffected Republicans. Johnson, the former Republican governor of New Mexico, is known for having balanced the budget during his 8 year tenure. The Libertarian's Vice presidential running mate is also a former Republican governor, William Weld of Massachusetts.

Via Red State, Romney already said he’d take a look at Johnson in an interview with CNN last month (excerpted in the clip below) but that was hypothetical and qualified by concerns over libertarian support for legal weed. Former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney is thinking about supporting the Libertarian presidential ticket this year. Well, at least, that’s what the Libertarian ticket says. In a interview Thursday afternoon with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, former Govs. Gary Johnson and Bill Weld, of New Mexico and Massachusetts, respectively, said they have had spoken with Romney and he was “considering the possibility” of endorsing the two of them.

Why weren't these people specifically trying to muck up the system and going on liberal cable shows protesting their distaste for Mitt when clearly there was a NeverMitt in the form of Not Mitt groups of primary voters dissatisfied with Romney as the ultimate choice? Something doesn't add up about all of this! If there ever was a time to declare 'free the delegates' then 2012 would have been it for these people
