Bernie Sanders has over double the voter support of Hillary Clinton in New Hampshire, according to a new poll. Sanders leads the Democratic presidential front-runner by 33 points among registered Democrats in the University of Massachusetts-Lowell/7 News survey released Wednesday. He takes 63 percent in the Granite State, contrasted with 30 percent for Clinton in results unchanged from the pollsters' previous survey. Martin O’Malley, who suspended his campaign last Monday night, earned 1 percent. New Hampshire’s Democratic-leaning voters are also fairly certain about their candidate before next Tuesday’s primary, pollsters found. About 81 percent would “definitely” vote for Sanders, versus...

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Wednesday chided President Obama for visiting a mosque, a move the president made in part as a counter to Trump's controversial comments on Muslims. "I don't have much thought, I think he can go to lots of places. I don't know, maybe he feels comfortable there," Trump said Wednesday on Fox News' "On the Record with Greta Van Susteren." "There are a lot of places he can go, and he chose a mosque."

Imagine that you own a large department store called Foggy Bottom. Your most frequent customer is a superbly connected globetrotter with some one million miles on her passport. She never uses a standard shopping basket like everyone else. Instead, she strolls in with her own gigantic, custom-made, black-leather handbag. Quite often when this 68-year-old grandmother visits Foggy Bottom, you catch her shoplifting. Indeed, you have pried 1,340 pilfered items that magically tumbled into her black bag. How does she get away with it? Whenever you call the police, she gives them the same excuse: “I did not take anything marked...

The Federal Bureau of Investigation said on Tuesday it was joining a criminal investigation of lead-contaminated drinking water in Flint, Michigan, exploring whether laws were broken in a crisis that has captured international attention. Federal prosecutors in Michigan were working with an investigative team that included the FBI, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Office of Inspector General and the EPA's Criminal Investigation Division, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney's Office in Detroit said. An FBI spokeswoman said the agency was determining whether federal laws were broken, but declined further comment.

Real estate mogul Donald Trump is no longer just in the running to become president of the United States, he has also reportedly been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize, according to Agence France Presse (AFP). The French news agency recently received confirmation of Trump’s nomination from Kristian Berg Harpviken, the director of the Peace Research Institute of Oslo. According to Harpviken, the Nobel committee received a letter (whose author has not been revealed) nominating Trump for his “vigorous peace through strength ideology, used as a threat weapon of deterrence against radical Islam, ISIS, nuclear Iran and Communist China.” MSNBC...

Today, Paul Ryan gave a fascinating speech at Heritage Action, a tea party-allied organization that has fashioned itself as the guardian of conservative purity. The speech called for unity. “To quote William Wallace in Braveheart,” he said, “we have to unite the clans.” But his speech was actually a repudiation of everything the tea party has done. Not only that, Ryan also took shots at the congressional Republican leadership, and even the current GOP presidential candidates. He didn’t call anyone out by name, but if you understand what’s happening now and the conflict that has roiled the Republican Party for...

Two Generals in the military have come forward to say that women should now have to register for the draft, as the Defense Department has opened up combat jobs to women. Marine Corps Commandant Gen. Robert Neller and Army Chief of Staff Gen. Mark Milley agreed that the current policy, which requires only males register for the Selective Service System, should be changed after restrictions that barred women from trying out for combat jobs were lifted last year. "Every American who's physically qualified should register for the draft," said Neller at a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing Tuesday. "I think...

  • Donald Trump Isn’t the Biggest Narcissist in the GOP Field. Ted Cruz Is.

o hear the pundits and experts in Washington tell it, the problem with Ted Cruz is that he doesn’t play well with others in the Senate, he’s too hardheaded and he doesn’t compromise. In other words, he’s exactly what the Republican primary voters want. On this score, I side with the Republican primary voters. If Cruz’s problem is that he is a conservative who has no regard for senatorial decorum and fights too hard for the right things, I’m all in. Story Continued Below But there is a far bigger problem with Cruz: Donald Trump is not the most self-absorbed...

A day after the Iowa caucuses and a week from the New Hampshire primary, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid is back blasting the lack of diversity in the states that come before his home of Nevada in the presidential nominating process. Asked about the outcome in Iowa, where Sen. Bernard Sanders, I-Vt., finishing very narrowly behind former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Reid highlighted his role in changing the process to put more focus on the subsequent contests in states with more diverse Democratic electorates. His efforts helped move Nevada’s Democratic caucuses earlier in the electoral calendar.

President Barack Obama’s private meetings with congressional Republican leaders appeared to do very little to break the legislative impasse that largely has defined his tenure. Descriptions of the meeting from both ends of Pennsylvania Ave. were clinical at best. Notably missing were usual Washington declarations that a high-level meeting was “productive” or “constructive.” Asked about that omission, an aide to Speaker Paul D. Ryan, R-Wis., called the speaker’s time on Tuesday with Obama “cordial.” And, in a fitting bit of symbolism, Ryan departed the White House for yet another House vote on a measure to repeal Obama’s signature health care...

Fearless special forces troops donned the full-length Islamic dress to sneak undetected through the terrorists’ de facto capital Raqqa and take down the terrorist commander. The eight-man SAS squad also eliminated several jihadi fighters after lifting up their burkas and opening fire on the stunned militants, who had no time to hide from the hail of bullets.

November 18, 2007 By Jack Voelkel GLADYS AYLWARD Small Woman, Big Heart, Great Faith The half-starved Chinese prisoners in Yangcheng were rioting. In the center was a man with a large bloody kitchen meat cleaver. All were shouting. Several men had already collapsed on the ground, mortally wounded. The warden called to A-Weh-Deh, “Go in and stop them!” The woman known to foreigners by her English name, Gladys Aylward, stood trembling at the entrance. “Why me?” she gasped. The warden challenged, “You tell us your God is all powerful. Is He or is He not?” “He is,” she declared, seeking...

A Spanish scientist working at the Salk Institute in California told Scientific American that Pope Francis personally blessed his cutting-edge research to mix human cells into animal bodies. Juan Carlos Izpisua Belmonte, a prominent stem-cell biologist, is engaged in efforts to grow human tissue inside of farm animals such as pigs, sheep, and cows. This type of research is sensitive because scientists have to inject human stem cells into early-stage animal embryos, then try to grow the mixtures inside surrogate animals. Much of Belmonte's work occurs in collaboration with a team in the province of Murcia in his native Spain,...

The Pentagon announced Monday that it intends to pay for hormone treatment for transgender troops. The change was one of several proposed in a package of reforms. Written public comments about this proposed new rule can be made in the Federal Register until April 1. Tricare coverage for gender dysphoria treatments would be available to troops, their family members and retirees, including psychotherapy and hormone replacement therapy. "This rulemaking proposes to remove the categorical exclusion on treatment of gender dysphoria. This proposed change will permit coverage of all non-surgical medically necessary and appropriate care in the treatment of gender dysphoria,...

INDIAN WELLS, Calif. – Donald Trump is so fiercely opposed by the Koch brothers network that some donors believe the powerful group will intervene to stop the billionaire if it looks like he could win the Republican presidential nomination. "They are always very hesitant to get involved in a primary, but I think if they were going to do it, this would be the time because they just hate the guy,” said a donor who attended the Koch network’s winter retreat, held over the weekend at a luxury resort on the edge of Coachella Valley. In a profanity-laced interview with Rolling Stone, the Detroit rocker said he finds Trump's campaign "entertaining as shit" and he thinks the real estate mogul will win the GOP nomination. "My feeling: Let the motherf***ing business guy run [the country] like a f***ing business," he said. "It's not really working too well running it not like a business. I mean, what business f***ing survives when they're f***ing broke?"

A multistate outbreak of Listeriosis linked to packaged salad mixes produced by Dole Fresh Vegetables Inc. is being investigated by federal, state and local officials. Listeriosis is a rare but serious illness usually caused by food contaminated by the Listeria monocytogenes bacteria, according to the Food and Drug Administration, one of the federal agencies involved in the investigation. The bacteria has been found in salads produced at a Dole facility in Springfield, Ohio. Fifteen people from eight states have been reported infected by the bacteria since July 5. While none of the 15 is from Wisconsin, the Centers for Disease...
