  • The Amazing OV-10 Bronco Was Never Allowed To Meet Its Full Potential

The OV-10 Bronco was a flying and fighting do-all sport utility vehicle. It could loiter for hours, direct fire onto the enemy, pack paratroopers and cargo, or attack with its own weapons. Many think it was retired right when it could have become most useful and that it would have been the perfect light air support aircraft for Afghanistan and Iraq.

Prince Harry is seen flying a Spitfire upside down in footage released from his charity work with injured veterans. The prince was cheering and smiling as he rolled the plane during a flight along the Isle of Wight coastline in August last year. The stunt was to promote his Spitfire scholarship which offers training for wounded servicemen and women. He also met two trainees who are hoping to pilot the aircraft in a Battle of Britain flypast.

The Chris Kyle Commemorative Les Paul Standard Special—a.k.a the American Sniper—features an American flag–and-skull finish and top-hat control knobs crafted from ammo shells. The guitar is named for former Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, who was depicted in the 2014 film American Sniper. 1.) Census Bureau: black women make more money than white women For years Coach is Right and other websites have reported on affirmative action schemes used by government agencies. Blacks now make up over 18% of the Federal workforce nationwide, although they account for just 12% of the US population. Employee rolls at some federal agencies are over 50% black. In state, city, and county governments, a disproportionately high number of blacks are currently being employed across the nation. And no one benefits more than black women. Many Federal agencies, such as the US Post Office, have a scheme that...
  • F-35 helmets cost $400,000 and allow pilots to look around as if the plane wasn’t there

WASHINGTON — The F-35 Lightning II is one of the most complicated weapons systems ever developed, a sleek and stealthy fighter jet years in the making that is often called a flying computer because of its more than 8 million lines of code. The Joint Strike Fighter comes in three versions, including one that is designed to take off and land on an aircraft carrier and another that lands vertically, as if it were a helicopter. But to truly understand the most expensive weapons program in the history of the Pentagon, forget the plane for a minute. Consider the helmet....

7 April 1944 Good Friday; at least I suppose it must be somewhere. I remember the 'Karfreitag' I spent in Heidelberg seven years ago. A party of us had an early supper and then went into Mannheim to the opera house to hear 'Parsifal,' which on this day would be playing in every opera house in Germany. I remember returning to Heidelberg, tired and slightly stunned by 5 hours of concentrated Wagner, the first time I had ever heard of 'Parsifal' in its entirety. The next time I heard it was about a year later at the Colon Opera House...

Maj. Andrei Durnovtsev, a Soviet air force pilot and commander of a Tu-95 Bear bomber, holds a dubious honor in the history of the Cold War. Durnovtsev flew the aircraft that dropped the most powerful nuclear bomb ever. It had an explosive force of 50 megatons, or more than 3,000 times more powerful than the Hiroshima weapon. Over the years, historians identified many names for the test bomb.

Carter, in a speech at his former high school, said the military has to attract about 250,000 people a year just to keep up with those who retire or leave the service to pursue jobs, education and other opportunities in the civilian world. At the same time, only about a third of the 21 million Americans age 17 to 21 are eligible to join the military, with half unable to pass the entry examination and the rest ineligible because they are unable to meet the physical fitness or character standards, he said.

In March, a Russian motorist filmed a very unusual, camouflaged tank rolling down a street outside Moscow. Most likely, it was the mysterious T-14 — or Armata — heavy tank, which could represent a major evolution in Russian tank design. The Kremlin has largely kept the T-14 under wraps, both literally and metaphorically. But we have a pretty good idea of what it can do.
