Note: This is satire designed to show the ludicrous nature of the media coverage on the Ft. Hood issue. It is not designed to trivialize a terrible event but to make people understand better what happened and how the event is being dangerously distorted.] By Barry Rubin When John Wilkes Booth opened fire on President Abraham Lincoln in Ford’s Theatre in April 1865, the media was puzzled. “True, the actor was outspoken in his Confederate sympathies and viewed himself as a Southerner,” said someone who knew him, “but that was no reason he might want Lincoln to be dead.” The...

On Wednesday evening, a group of folks gathered outside local ABC affiliate WTNH on State Street in New Haven. The reason? To mark the occasion of ABC’s unprecedented departure from its self-proclaimed impartiality in reporting news and events by hosting the President’s forum on health care reform. It was a small turnout, but enthusiastic in spite of intermittent showers. Some of the protests were directed at ABC for its poor judgment, which will undoubtedly affect its already downcast ratings. Others chose to protest the top-speed government health care reform push. Boaz ItsHaky joined the group to express dissatisfaction with ABC’s...

They say that many people now get much of their news from satire. Which might make you wonder where they get their satire from. However, researchers at the Ohio State University wanted to get into the bowels of the political satire phenomenon and were perhaps a little surprised at how it is all being digested. They subjected 332 people of varying political bents to a three-minute clip of "The Colbert Report." They then produced their own report, fetchingly entitled "Political Ideology and The Motivation to See What You Want to See in the Colbert Report." The guinea pigs were flawless...

Michael Lindenberger of Time.com, in a April 20 article titled “Ten Years After Columbine, It’s Easier to Bear Arms,” found it “odd” that “whatever momentum the Columbine killings gave to gun control has long since petered out,” despite the “massacres perpetrated by deranged gunmen” in the following decade. He also quoted extensively from a young gun control advocate in the online article, without including any arguments from the opposing viewpoint. Lindenberger first gave his reflection on the anniversary: “Monday April 20 marks 10 years since Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold permanently etched the words Columbine High School into this nation’s...

John Ziegler, the documentary filmmaker who chronicled the blatant media bias of the 2008 campaign, has a column out on Fox Forum discussing the April 15th ceremony in which Katie Couric will receive the "Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Television Journalism." In the column, Ziegler does a brief recap of the circumstances of the interview, interspersed with clips of his discussion with Governor Palin. It is obvious that Couric is being rewarded for the political result of her interview –the shooting down of a conservative superstar just in time to save the Obama campaign. It’s not about the “journalism”...

First, those of you who have already ordered the film, you should be receiving your copies very shortly. Meat just doesn’t get redder than this. If John Ziegler tried to keep it friendly with Matt Lauer yesterday, he had no such reticence with Norah O’Donnell later on MS-NBC. He called NBC an “advocacy organization” and wondered why O’Donnell didn’t get fired after misquoting Sarah Palin: Video ~~ John Ziegler on MSNBC John’s quite clever in this interview. Unlike with Matt Lauer, where the lengthy segment gave plenty of time for dialogue, John knew he would only have a limited time to talk with O’Donnell. He winds up dominating the conversation, only giving O’Donnell a couple of opportunities to...

Last month NewsBusters introduced readers to John Ziegler, a conservative filmmaker creating a documentary about the astoundingly poor job the press did covering 2008's presidential campaign. Marvelously entitled "Media Malpractice: How Obama Got Elected and Palin Was Targeted," the movie is set for release on February 23. I chatted with Ziegler earlier in the week about last year's campaign shenanigans and the film.

Ouch. Norah O’Donnell never saw it coming. It’s been hours now and she’s probably still woozy after the figurative beating she took from documentary maker John Ziegler. Ziegler’s out promoting “Media Malpractice,” his new documentary, by making the rounds of all the news and talk shows. Today was MSNBC’s turn. Based on the smug smile on O’Donnell’s face when the interview started, she though Ziegler was going to be easy pickings. She was wrong....

You've been hearing about the new documentary "Media Malpractice" by Zeigler. I just did a search for the film on Netflix and it does not appear. If you are a customer, please drop an email to them to let them know that you want to see the conservative documentary. I don't know if Netflix is run by leftwing nuts like Amazon is, but I remember how long it took for them to get "Is is True What They Say About Ann?" on their list. They do have a huge library of Soros-style documentaries, however, as well as gay porn.

Filmmaker John Ziegler has released a new documentary about the media’s coverage of Barack Obama and Sarah Palin before the election — and he asserts that Palin was held to a “completely different standard” than the other candidates. Ziegler, whose film is “Media Malpractice: How Obama Got Elected and Palin Was Targeted,” appeared on the “Today” show on Monday morning. In a sometimes heated exchange with host Matt Lauer, he said: “I was outraged during the primaries. I think the Hillary Clinton supporters have an awful lot to be outraged about. A lot in this film is about the primaries...

Here are the really important things for you to know... -- Over this weekend the trailer for the film will be available exclusively at the brand new and improved http://www.HowObamaGotElected.com -- You will be able...

In journalistic terms it’s called a “tick-tock.” This is when the media crafts a news story that takes you behind the scenes of an event and breaks down, piece by linear piece, the individual acts which led up to that event. With “Media Malpractice: How Obama Got Elected and Palin Was Targeted,” director John Ziegler (”Blocking the Path to 9/11“) turns the art of the tick-tock around and aims it, with damning effect, squarely at the news media. The result is not a documentary, at least not for anyone who believes in truth, fairness or journalistic integrity - the result...

Here is video of Media Malpractice producer John Ziegler on MSNBC's Morning Joe today, where he talked about his documentary film that focuses on the media's deliberate attempts to discredit Gov. Sarah Palin during the 2008 Campaign. Ziegler forcefully takes on the MSNBC Morning Joe crew, and shows how Palin was "savaged" by the media. At the 5:40 mark of the video above, Pat Buchanan asks Ziegler who were the main culprits in the media attack against Palin, and Joe Scarborough interrupted Ziegler and would not let him answer! Scarborough at the whole set then began to laugh, because they...

Here is video of The Today Show's Matt Lauer talking with John Ziegler this morning about his new documentary film, Media Malpractice, which focuses on the way the media went after Sarah Palin during the 2008 Campaign and sought to destroy her. Ziegler argues that Palin was held to a completely different standard by the media than Barack Obama and Joe Biden. . . . . (Watch Video)

Here is video of documentary filmmaker John Ziegler appearing on The View today. Ziegler made the documentary "Media Malpractice: How Obama Got Elected and Palin Was Targeted." Needless to say, he was not popular on The View! They tried to defend the media, saying Obama would have been criticized by the media just as Palin was if he had given a bad interview. Does anyone actually believe that? . . . . . . . . (Watch Video)

INTERVIEW SNIPPET: "Frontpage Interview’s guest today is John Ziegler, a former talk show host who is the director of the documentary Blocking 'The Path to 9/11’. He is now working on a new project, HowObamaGotElected. FP: John Ziegler, welcome to Frontpage Interview. Ziegler: Thanks. It has been a weird and rather rough time. FP: Why has it been weird and rough? Ziegler: Well, when I released the Zogby poll of Obama voters I never anticipated the level of outright hatred and irrationality that would be unleashed on me. I spent most of that week deleting nasty e-mail from my inbox...

The newspapers are reporting that the fiscal gap is $10 billion. It is actually far more serious than that. The actual figure – according to the LAO – is that the state will spend $14 billion more than it takes in between now and the end of the next fiscal year. The difference is that we will first blow through the $4 billion reserve that the state began the year with. (That reserve, by the way, is already gone.) But the LAO is still predicting that the state’s general fund revenues will grow about 3.5 percent this year. I doubt...

The silence was deafening and the seats were empty. The western press was nowhere to be found. The location was Baghdad and the event was a February 10th, 2006 press conference announcing the final verification of December's election results. Although the final allocation of parliamentary seats did not change from last month's tentative reports, the conference was nonetheless significant for American and Iraqi history. What was equally significant was the absence of members of the western press. If the pre-release of the topics to be discussed included reports of widespread voter fraud, complaints by detained terrorists of maltreatment, or a sudden...

Among the findings that emerge in the mass of documents and testimony: ¶Federal officials knew long before the storm showed up on the radar that 100,000 people in New Orleans had no way to escape a major hurricane on their own and that the city had finished only 10 percent of a plan for how to evacuate its largely poor, African-American population. ¶Mr. Chertoff failed to name a principal federal official to oversee the response before the hurricane arrived, an omission a top Pentagon official acknowledged to investigators complicated the coordination of the response. His department also did not plan...

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said Thursday he was blindsided by President Bush's announcement of new details on a purported 2002 hijacking plot aimed at a downtown skyscraper, and described communication with the White House as "nonexistent." "I'm amazed that the president would make this (announcement) on national TV and not inform us of these details through the appropriate channels," the mayor told The Associated Press. "I don't expect a call from the president _ but somebody." Bush has referred to the 2002 plot before but he publicly filled in the details Thursday. Bush said Khalid Sheik Mohammed, the alleged mastermind of...
