    Philadelphia Inquirer ^ | February 26, 2014 | Andrew Seidman
TRENTON New Jersey Democrats on Monday proposed legislation that would limit the ammunition capacity of gun magazines, 14 months after a massacre at a Connecticut elementary school revived a national debate about the role of guns in America. The bill, announced by the Legislature's Democratic leadership at a Statehouse news conference with parents of children slain at Sandy Hook Elementary School in December 2012, would reduce magazine capacity to 10 rounds, from 15. It also would ban semiautomatic rifles with fixed-magazine capacities that exceed 10 rounds. "When you meet families that lost their loved ones, it's pretty hard to explain...

The Stench of Honolulu: A Tropical Adventure by Jack Handey Deep Thoughs by Sebastien Theroux Humorist Jack Handey’s debut novel tells the delightfully absurd tale of two men’s quest to find the Holy Grail of fictional wealth: a Golden Monkey supposedly worth…a lot. Our not-so-humble narrator (a sociopathic ignoramus) and his friend Don navigate a world of pirates, blow darts, banana peels and treasure maps of dubious origin.

It hasn't been a particularly great year for magazine circulation, but one category is shining as a beacon of hope for the American publishing industry: guns. American Rifleman and America’s 1st Freedom, both of which are benefits of NRA membership, saw their circulations increase 14 percent to 1.9 million and 8 percent to 545,019, respectively, in the first half of the year versus the year-ago period. Handguns and Guns & Ammo, published by InterMedia Outdoors, saw their circ jump 16 percent to 137,648 and 7 percent to 416,224, respectively.

SANTA FE (KRQE) - Santa Fe will not limit how big gun magazines can be.      The decision comes after a plan to ban on high capacity automatic gun ammunition magazines was shot down at a packed city hall meeting Wednesday night. "The state constitution is very clear that in no way can it be regulated by anybody,” Thomas Iddings said. “But it's not the magazines that are the problem. It's criminals.""I don't think it's a constitutional issue,” Paul Schmitt said. “I think it's an inconvenience that people have to change their magazines. We're not limiting weaponry."      If it...

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A ban on the possession of large-capacity ammunition clips in the city of Los Angeles was one of two gun control measures the City Council approved Friday. The proposed ordinance – which was passed in an unanimous 11-0 vote – would declare high-capacity ammo clips a public nuisance and allow Los Angeles police to confiscate those firearms.

Looking at the pics coming in from the Boston bomber manhunt I see all these LEOs bristling with high-capacity-mag, “assault weapon” looking rifles (wonder how many are full-auto?), bad-ass shotguns, scary black pistols. For two guys … well, one now. (None now. Good show LEOs.) Thing is, I don’t begrudge the city of Boston a single round. The LEOs, God bless ‘em, aren’t taking any chances. But then why should you? Why should you be held to 7 rounds? Or 10. Or any arbitrary number. Who needs 30-round mags? “…legions of heavily armed police” felt like they needed them …...
  • Plausible, or Propaganda? The ‘High-Capacity Magazine’ Argument

What appears to be the gun-control crowd's most winnable argument is as irrational as the rest. The Hartford Courant reports that on April 1, Connecticut legislators reached bipartisan agreement on what they say could be the “nation’s strongest gun-control bill,” and that easy passage is expected. One of the bills provisions: scary-looking semi-automatic rifles (“assault weapons”) will now need only one frightening feature (such as a pistol grip or flash suppressor) instead of the current two to make the banned list. A second: future sales of “high-capacity magazines” of over 10 rounds will be banned. This is the one element...
  • Biden: Gun-Ban Legislation "Just the Beginning" -- Pelosi: "Not the End of the Day for this Issue"

    NRA-ILA ^ | March 29, 2013 | NRA-ILA Staff
This week, Vice-President Joe Biden, and House Minority Leader, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), showed us--once again--how thorough their contempt is for our Constitutionally guaranteed Second Amendment rights. According to a Washington Times article, on a Wednesday conference call organized by "Mayors Against Illegal Guns," Biden referred to current anti-gun legislation and told his anti-gun supporters, "Let me say this as clearly as I can: this is just the beginning." As the article notes, recent surveys show increasing opposition to stricter gun control measures. But this fact matters not to Biden; nor to Pelosi, who also voiced a determination to continue...

Mar 19, 2013, 6:27am MDT Magpul preparing to leave Colorado Staff Denver Business Journal Magpul Industries Inc. of Boulder intends to "start out transition out of the state almost immediately" after Gov. John Hickenlooper signs into law a measure limiting the number of rounds allowed in magazines, KMGH-TV reports. The governor is expected to sign House Bill 1224 on Wednesday. The bill restricts to 15 the number of rounds a magazine can hold. But Magpul Industries makes 30-round magazines. The company's website said Magpul Industries has sold millions of its polymer magazines, or "PMAGs." Magpul Industries posted a lengthy note...

BELLEVUE, WA – -(Ammoland.com)- A new video obtained by the Citizens Committee for the Right to keep and Bear Arms destroys the myth surrounding so-called “high capacity magazines” by proving that determined shooters using smaller capacity magazines can fire just as fast, and in some cases even faster despite having to reload. The startling video demonstration, conducted under the supervision of Boone County, Ind. Sheriff Ken Campbell and funded by ArmaLite, “throws cold water on anti-gunners who argue that magazine limitations are necessary to prevent mass shootings,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan M. Gottlieb. “We are all indebted to ArmaLite for...

Chris Matthews featured her as a "rising star," someone who with more seasoning might someday entertain a presidential run. But newly-elected Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane came across as more of a not-ready-for-prime-time-deer-in-the-headlights. Appearing on today's Hardball, Kane came out with this mind-boggler: "I think the people of Pennsylvania would accept a limit on the amount of clips. You know, I believe and I think a lot of people feel the same way that you don't have a right to go into a classroom and take down a class of children in under a minute." Really going out on a...

This page allows you to tell the entire membership of both the New Mexico House Consumer and Public Affairs Committee and the House Judiciary Committee (18 representatives) to oppose House Bill 402 with one mouse click. HB 402 is an "all-out assault on law-abiding gun owners" in New Mexico. The bill is "one of the worst gun control bills filed in the entire country," as it would ban "the future possession and transport of a so-called 'assault weapon' or 'large-capacity ammunition-feeding devices.'" The legislation would mean that "Ownership of the affected firearms and magazines could not be transferred AT ALL....

// THIS ISN'T MY BLOG, I JUST STUMBLED ACROSS IT // The case of Nathan Haddad should boil the blood of any good American. A twelve-year veteran of the Army, with four deployments, is a decorated combat veteran and now, probably, a felon. His crime: possession of five empty 30-round magazines for an AR-15. The magazines were stowed in the trunk of his car at the time of a traffic stop.
  • Need help finding old court ruling

    01/22/2013 8:54:36 AM PST · by jstaff · 12 replies
I seem to remember an older federal court ruling that addressed the number of rounds a weapon's detachable magazine could hold. IIRC it said something to the effect that a 12-round magazine was not materially different from an 8 or 10 round magazine, and therefore the capacity of a detachable magazine could not be regulated. Does anyone else recall this, or am I finally losing it? Any help will be appreciated, my hair is gray enough.

There does appear to be some sort of grandfathering, but only if you slobber and...

As I read the ñew New York gun laws like the police there is no exemption for the entertainment industry (movies, TV, or plaifys). Even if the guns themselves were non working props I'll bet the magazines are real. That alone would bear crime. They aren't going to have just one magazine either. If they were real there would be massive fines and some lengthy jail time. Based on the way the law is written conspiracy charges for violating the law. Tight be able to be brought against the production company, the actors, studios and their executives. I wonder how...

Time Warner's Time Inc. will lay off up to 700 staffers out of just under 8,000 total as the publisher's new chief struggles to transform famous titles and massive market share into a digital profit center. The staff cuts will come sometime in the first quarter, said a person familiar with the company's plans, and will be across the board -- not just focused on editorial, where staffing has already been hard hit. [Snip] Time Inc. revenue fell 6% for the nine months ended in September to $2.5 billion. Profit dropped 14% to $220 million. During that period, it dominated...

Does anyone really need old family snapshots? Pictures of your child as a baby, or of your grandparents on their honeymoon have no monetary worth and nearly no practical value. What can you do with them, besides looking every few years. Would you be OK with government taking away by an arbitrary decree? We don’t need apples. Pears are close enough and can be used in the same recipes. Would you be OK with apple growing being prohibited? Nobody needs to read Jonothan Swift.
