The ghastly murders in Newtown, Conn., reflect the horrify prevalence of suicide here and across the globe. Before we turn up the volume on the Second Amendment. Before we trot out data proving that more guns lead to more violence — or don't. Before we re-live every senseless mass murder and make children afraid to step into a movie theater, school or mall. Before all of this and worse — experts would be wise to examine a phenomena that has been the impetus behind so many recent attacks on innocent civilians: Long before the perpetrators reached for a weapon, they...

The Old West re-enactor who fired four bullets into a crowd of tourists in downtown Hill City in June 2011 was sentenced Monday to 7-1/2 years in federal prison. Paul F. Doering had earlier signed a plea agreement where he admitted that he concealed evidence after a June 17 Old West re-enactment of a gun fight on a Hill City side street in which three out-of-state visitors were injured, two seriously. Federal marshals placed handcuffs on Doering immediately after U.S. District Judge Jeffrey Viken sentenced the 49-year-old Summerset man. A six-time convicted felon, Doering was arrested last summer after authorities...

Flightradar24 shows live airplane traffic from different parts around the world. The technique to receive flight information from aircraft is called ADS-B. That means the Flightradar24 can only show information about aircraft equipped with an ADS-B transponder. Today about 60% (about 30% in USA and about 70% in Europe) of the passenger aircraft and only a small amount of military and private aircraft have an ADS-B transponder.

Rush Limbaugh retakes ManhattanLast night I was fortunate to see Rush Limbaugh Live. The show started late due to the Occupying Wall Street folks demonstrating across the street from the theatre. But then the rain came and they left. Rush later commented that, "It was good that they were here tonight, since they finally got a shower." When the show finally started, the Maja Rushie arrived to a standing ovation and wild applause. He proceeded to launch into his usual litany of liberal bashing, which never seems to get old. He expressed true concern and a bit of fear for...

Herman Cain's star is rising. The unexpected Florida straw poll smash victory by Cain has led to voters taking a second look at the former pizza entrepreneur. A new Washington Post/ABC News poll shows that Cain has risen into a tie for second place with the falling Rick Perry -- each claiming a 16 percent share of GOP voters. A solid 25 percent of GOP voters just like Gov. Mitt Romney. He seems to have a solid base that neither rises nor falls. The other 75 percent of GOP voters are in search of a candidate with whom to fall...

Gawker may have put it best: “As you’ll see, his hips most definitely don’t lie.” During an appearance on Rachel Maddow’s MSNBC show last night, Dem. Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) joined to talk about the economy. During that discussion, the almost unmistakeable sound of Frank passing gas could be heard. And the almost unmistakeable sight of him lifting his leg was visible:
