Ideology: A Pew study finds the country more polarized than ever, and naturally Republicans are catching the blame. Truth is, it's Democrats who've lurched to extremes. Evidence of Republicans' shift to the far right is supposed to be found in the defeat of House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, which prompted the New York Times to editorialize that "In GOP, Far Right Is Too Moderate." Former Clinton adviser Donna Brazile added that "even the candidates who are supposed to be the establishment have been pulled so far to the right by Tea Party challengers that there is no difference in their...

Yes, neighbor, but what do YOU think? Among the many findings of a new Pew Research Center survey is this data about neighborhoods, and how Americans want them to look: more conservatives than liberals want to live in a place where most people share their political views. The survey found that, among the consistently conservative, 50% believe it’s important to live in a place where most think the way they do about politics. For consistent liberals, it’s 35%. Check out the Pew poll. The divide over neighborhoods doesn’t end there. Many more liberals than conservatives want communities where the houses...

Sara Robinson of Seattle, Washington, is chatty, affable, and obviously liberal. For years the former writer for Alternet has been a member of a tight-knit community of activists who write and organize around progressive causes. Or at least she was a member, until her “tribe,” as she calls it, effectively banished her in the wake of the December 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting. “I was forced out,” she says. Robinson, a registered Democrat since the Reagan era, is also a life-long gun owner. And almost as soon as news of the massacre broke, her relationship with her left-leaning circle began...

Mark Twain once said, “There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics.” While we won’t cover statistics, we have found a damned lie. Earlier this week in an interview with Diane Sawyer, Hillary Clinton stated that by the time her and her husband exited the White House in 2001, they were “dead broke.” She added that, due to enormous legal fees following her husband’s impeachment, they had “no money.” While it is certainly true that the Clinton’s legal bills were sky high, the notion that they were penniless and broke is not only incorrect, but a damned...

My cat allegedly has had several physical altercations with neighbors' cats and it is said he has eaten their food after these incidents. We are not conceding that he has ever done anything wrong, as there are no video tapes of these alleged actions. However, we would like to state for the record that if indeed there is any small truth to these allegations, there are many extenuating circumstances that would not only excuse his supposed behavior, put prove it to be commendable. Evolutionary - Cats fight other cats and take their food. That is "survival of the fittest," the...

"They are turning people of faith into religious refugees." Colorado bakery owner Jack Phillips never sought out a gay person to discrminate against, nor to harm in any way. He has no desire to do so. But because he serves Jesus Christ above all else, Phillips was not about to be forced into participation in celebrating the "marriage" of two gay men. So when they entered his store to place an order for a wedding cake, he simply told them they would have to find a different bakery. We've told you this story before, and it's now reached exactly the...

U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., has recently been calling out U.S. Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, for blocking immigration reform. In a Friday release, King said it was time for he and Schumer to have a debate on the topic. (SNIP) King's response was that he and Schumer needed to debate. “Senator Schumer is continuing his attempt to taunt Speaker Boehner and leadership into bringing his Senate Gang of Eight’s amnesty agenda to the floor of the House. This is the third time Schumer has read from a script on the Senate Floor giving me the credit for leading on immigration...

Thought the following descriptions and caustic quotes concerning liberals might be amusing to many. Oddly no definition for "libertarian" though a bit of running commentary about both Republicans and Democrats. Extracted from the newly released The Devil’s Dictionary (new millennia edition). Grab a copy for your cynical old man for father's day. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0983240752/liberal, noun 1. Someone who does not care what you do as long as it is compulsory. 2. A person who feels a great debt to his fellow man, which he proposes to pay-off with your money. 3. A person whose interests aren't at stake at the moment....

Continuing their commitment to silence anyone who might stand in the way of their agenda, gay and lesbian groups are now beginning to criticize supporters who are thought to be insufficiently loyal. The most recent case involves Douglas Laycock, a University of Virginia law professor, who is married to the University’s president, Teresa A. Sullivan. A man with impeccable progressive credentials, Laycock has been a longtime supporter of gay rights and same-sex marriage—filing an amicus brief in the 2012 Supreme Court case, United States v. Windsor that urged the court to extend same-sex marriage benefits to every state in...

Who is your Savior? To whom do you bow? Where do you 'Get truth?' "It was a matter of letting me know that I was, in her view, way out of line and that I needed to get in line...I conveyed to her: 'I'm not that kind of Negro. I'm a Jesus-loving black man who tells the truth, in the White House, in the crack house or in any other house.' She got real quiet. It was clear that she was not used to being spoken to that way." – Cornel West (recalling an exchange with a Senior Advisor to...

You have to hand it to the liberals: they never miss an opportunity to convert tragedy into political gain. In the wake of Elliot Rodger’s six murders–three with a knife and three with a gun, plus injuries inflicted with an automobile–they are calling, once again, for gun confiscation. I guess they are, anyway. As usual, they denounce conservatives and say things like “end the madness,” but confiscation seems to be the point of it all. Once again, though, liberals are denied the holy grail of mass murderers–a conservative perpetrator, preferably a follower of the Tea Party. Rodger, like most of...

A third-grade teacher at Mill Plain Elementary School is in hot water after she was accused of going too far by asking students to pay to potty. Students in the class earn Monopoly play money through good behavior and performance that they can then spend on toys, treats and using the restroom. Last week, two parents complained that their children wet themselves at school because they couldn’t “afford” to go to the bathroom. Officials in the Evergreen School District are investigating the claim. “My daughter finally told me, ‘We have to pay to use the bathroom,’” said parent Merchon Ortega....

After meeting with Rep. Miguel Garcia, D-Albuquerque, at a political event, Garcia reached out. “We talked on the phone he said he really wanted to help me and help my campaign,” Otero said. And Garcia stayed true to his word, sending an email addressed to “Fellow House Members, Senate Colleagues, Elected Official Friends” Monday night.

Almost two years after a Haifa court ruled that Israel was not negligent in the 2003 death of American activist Rachel Corrie during a protest against IDF operations in the Gaza Strip, the Supreme Court heard her family’s appeal of the verdict Wednesday afternoon. Speaking before the hearing in Jerusalem, Craig Corrie, the activist’s father, said the lower court’s ruling had given the army “immunity and impunity.” “I think that’s very dangerous,” he said. “I hope the Israeli high court will change the findings, but if they don’t, I hope the world and the world press will bring it into...

Sean Hannity had Rand Paul on his radio show today to ask him about the NY Times article where it was reported that he said “I think it’s wrong for Republicans to go crazy on this issue because it’s offending people.†In short, Paul explained that while both sides have over-emphasized this issue, his point had nothing to do with the reality of the law, but the perception of the law. Paul argues there are a group of voters we need to court who have the wrong perception of voter-ID and because of that, we need to be careful not...

The writer as a budding, young conservative, during his youth filled with happiness, in large part due to his liberal mother. Today is a day where sons and daughters throughout the world make up for the other 364 days where we either give our Moms sleepless nights of worry and indigestion for our recklessness and general ambivalence. It also gives us a chance to reflect on the impact our mothers have in our lives, our personalities and all that we are. On this Mothers Day I share the thoughts of a ultra-conservative son who is everything he is because...

The Conservative oriented website dedicated to aggregating news from around the world-wide-interwebs, Weasel Zippers, has just lost its primary funding source because… Well… It’s kinda hard to say. According to the site, Google AdSense (an add generator produced by the infamously liberal corporation in Silicon Valley) has cancelled its agreement with the website because of apparent violations to their terms of use. According to Google, the conservative news site has failed to produce an adequate amount of “original content” to continue utilizing the internet advertising tool provided by Google. Of course, the claim seems mildly curious given the fact...

The Maine People's Alliance, a progressive group, has come under fire for a leaflet aimed at Maine State Rep. Dale Crafts (R-Lisbon Falls). The leaflet resembles a prescription form, and "diagnosed" Crafts as having "no heart" and "no spine" as he "failed to stand up to Gov. LePage." Crafts is confined to a wheelchair following a spinal injury sustained in a motorcycle accident 26 years ago. Democrats in the state were quick to condemn the language in the leaflet and to distance themselves from the Maine People's Alliance. “We’ve only been out of the session two days. And it’s not...

A recent study shows that children who are raised to have strong beliefs are also more likely to rebel against those views as they age. It is widely believed that children will imitate their parents’ behaviors and attitudes—whether parents want them to or not. The 1961 Bobo Doll experiment, conducted by Stanford professor Albert Bandura, demonstrated that children will interact with others in the precise manner that was modeled for them by adults. Given this responsibility, many parents try to instruct their children and impart their views, perhaps hoping their kids become carbon copies of themselves, or become the people...
