Classy: Maine Progressive Group Says Wheelchair-Bound Republican Hasn't "Stood Up" to Governor

The Maine People's Alliance, a progressive group, has come under fire for a leaflet aimed at Maine State Rep. Dale Crafts (R-Lisbon Falls). The leaflet resembles a prescription form, and "diagnosed" Crafts as having "no heart" and "no spine" as he "failed to stand up to Gov. LePage." Crafts is confined to a wheelchair following a spinal injury sustained in a motorcycle accident 26 years ago.

Democrats in the state were quick to condemn the language in the leaflet and to distance themselves from the Maine People's Alliance.

“We’ve only been out of the session two days. And it’s not beginning in a positive way. In fact, it’s pretty disturbing,” wrote Reps. Brian Jones (D-Freedom) and Denise Harlow (D-Portland) in a letter to several other elected officials.

“‘Our’ allies sent a mailer attacking the Republicans for their votes against Medicaid expansion,” the pair of lawmakers wrote. They asked like-minded colleagues to sent an email to Ben Chin, MPA’s director of political engagement, expressing their discontent.

The insensitive wording of the leaflet was reminiscent of Battleground Texas' email calling the idea of paraplegic gubernatorial candidate Greg Abbott walking a "great joke."

While Crafts was criticized by the Maine People's Alliance for his votes against Medicaid expansion, his explanation for his "nay" vote was pretty clear:

“I voted against ObamaCare’s welfare expansion because I go to work every day in my wheelchair, and I don’t think I should be paying extra taxes just so able-bodied young men can get free Medicaid.”

To the Maine People's Alliance's credit, they did eventually apologize to Crafts.

As Maine moves closer and closer to a secession vote, the leftist freedom haters of both parties are getting more and more panicked. Now they are trying to garner support to change the Constitution so as to prohibit secession other than thru the legislature.

It means that if you want to be free, stop sitting on the fence, move to Maine and help us secede. After secession there will be no immigration for at least one year. And even then it will be tough to get in.

As for those thinking to sneak in, well, the Militias main responsibility is protecting the border, any militia member may use whatever force he deems necessary to prevent entry into the country other than thru a legal border crossing. For any and all coming in thru other than a legal border crossing are to be considered armed invaders. The Republic of Maine is not going to be USA lite.

Section 6. The Militia and the standing army of 1,000. So as to insure and guarantee the rights guaranteed in this Constitution, every natural born male in the Republic of Maine, upon reaching the age of 18 years from conception through age 67 years from conception, has, as a member of the Militia, the obligation to keep and bear arms for the common defense, for his and his families protection, to defend against this government or any government in the future from becoming oppressive, tyrannical, or in any other way obnoxious to freedom, and to secure the rights written in this Constitution. This obligation shall never be questioned. No law shall be passed that restricts this obligation, except for time in a local jail, county jail or Maine Republic prison. No law shall be passed, test given, or fee assessed to any citizen of the Republic of Maine, age 18 from the age of conception, both male and female, that would restrict in any way that citizens right to be armed either concealed or open. Males who are found to be or confess to being homosexuals are refused entry and from serving in either the Militia or the standing army. Males over the age of 67 may be voluntary members of the Militia with the full rights of Militia members. Natural born males between the age of 16 years from conception to 18 years from conception may volunteer for Militia service with the written permission of parents or guardians. The standing army of 1,000 shall be drawn from the Militia by the commander of the Militia and is under the command of the commander of the Militia who is appointed by and reports directly to the President.

Kind of an odd way to put it. You would have to subtract 9 months from actual age to arrive at the age of eligibility.

As for the article itself, it reminds me of "stand up and take a bow Chuck", from slow Joe Biden. Liberals have no class and no measurable intelligence.

Age is counted from Conception because abortion is going to be considered first degree premeditated murder, a following clause makes that ever more clear.

Again, this is from the proposed Constitution that eligible voters in Maine on June 12, 2018 will vote to accept as they vote to secede.

Section 7. All human life is precious and a gift from God. Age is counted from the moment life begins, which is at the moment of conception and as such, all human life is protected from conception to death and has the full rights of this Constitution from conception. Any citizen of the Republic of Maine may use what ever force he or she deems necessary to protect human life. All abortions are considered first degree premeditated murder, children are entrusted, by God the Creator to that child's parents and as such are the responsibility of the parents, not the state, no level of Government whether local, county or Republic is to, in any way, over rule a parent in the rearing, educating, and/or influencing that child in any way.

Section 7a. Education. All education is left to the local community, to the parents first and foremost and then to the city, town or community in which the family resides. The counties and the Republic are explicitly denied any role in a child's education with the exception of Militia members while on duty and prisoners while in the care of the county jail or prison of the Republic. The first and foremost responsibility to teach a child Religion, obedience, patriotism, loyalty, righteousness, and to be a productive member of society rest squarely upon the shoulders of the parent(s), the local communities role is to support and reinforce that parental responsibility.

The Republic of Maine...? Nice, most of the Maine citizens are down to earth and fiscally conservative. Growing up at my patents cottage, I met the state rep almost every day. He owned a small business.

Liberals, if you hate freedom, move to North Korea or Cuba.

_______________

Not any more. Maine is a state of leftist trustfunders who are trying like mad to preserve it as a private game refuge.

Big issue in front of the utilities commission this week. To end phone service in northern Maine where there is no cell or internet. Reverts the area to wilderness only available to those wealthy who can use satellite phones.
