Chuck Rosenberg, the acting head of the Drug Enforcement Administration, emailed staffers Tuesday announcing he is resigning from the post. Rosenberg’s reason for leaving the agency was not reported, but it comes two months after he emailed DEA employees to reject comments President Donald Trump made about police use of force on suspects. Unnamed law enforcement officials told The New York Times on Tuesday that Rosenberg felt Trump had little respect for the law. Before becoming acting administrator of the DEA in May 2015 during the Obama administration, Rosenberg served as chief of staff for FBI Director James Comey.

A San Antonio police officer who had been with the department for nearly 22 years received an indefinite suspension in July for dating a convicted prostitute, according to suspension records obtained by the San Antonio Express-News. Officer Mark H. Walaski received an indefinite suspension, which is tantamount to firing, in July for "consorting with persons of ill repute," according to the documents. A deaf man has been shot and killed by Oklahoma City police officers as he approached them holding a metal pipe. The two officers did not hear neighbours shouting "he can't hear you", before opening fire, police captain Bo Mathews said. An engineering student who was an LGBTQ activist was shot and killed by Georgia Tech campus police on Saturday night, officials said Sunday. The school identified the victim as Scout Schultz, 21, a fourth-year engineering student from Lilburn, Georgia, who police said was armed with a knife. Schultz, president of Georgia Tech's Pride Alliance, identified as non-binary and intersex and preferred to be referred to with they/them gender pronouns, according to the alliance's website. At a news conference Monday, Schultz's family's attorney said the student was experiencing a "mental breakdown" on the night of the shooting.

ORLANDO — A SWAT operation was reportedly underway in Orange County Sunday as looters were attempting to steal guns from a sporting goods store. According to local media, the standoff was ongoing at the ‘Academy Sports’ store as Hurricane Irma moved through the area. The scene is at 3557 Gardens Ridge Way—-near the Mall at Millenia. One suspect has surrendered and another was barricaded inside and believed to be armed with stolen guns from the store. There were no immediate reports of injuries.

LOUIS – The mayor of St. Louis says the city is “on edge” as it awaits a ruling in the first-degree murder trial of former police officer Jason Stockley, in part because of a troubled history of justice in St. Louis and nationwide. Former Wisconsin sheriff David Clarke, an African-American who criticized the Black Lives Mater movement and was previously under consideration for a position with the Trump administration, has joined a super political action committee that backs the president, officials said on Tuesday.
