The University of Harvard has announced plans to change the last line of its 181-year-old “Fair Harvard” hymn because some people feel it is insufficiently inclusive. The “Fair Harvard” anthem, which has been sung since the mid-1800s, is used by all incoming and leaving students of Harvard at commencements and other major events. It’s known sometimes to bring its performers arm-in-arm in a show of solidarity. On Wednesday, however, it was announced that the anthem will undergo a 21st century update to change its last line,”Till the stock of the Puritans die”, in order to reflect the modern times.

Duke University is struggling to find students to serve on a “bias and hate” advisory committee, despite last year’s protests calling for increased transparency within the school’s administration. A group of Wellesley College professors recently sent a campus-wide email arguing that bringing controversial speakers to campus can cause grave harm to students. The full letter, which was obtained and published by the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE), was written by six professors who stand on the Wellesley Commission for Race, Ethnicity, and Equity.

White professors — especially “senior white males” — are under fire at Virginia Commonwealth University as an impediment to diversity and inclusion. An extensive campus climate survey of faculty and staff at the large, Richmond-based public institution has found that the majority of employees are upset that not enough white male professors attend campus diversity trainings, not enough professors infuse social justice into their curricula, and not enough professors of color, especially female ones, teach at the school.

University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill administrators condemned a flier found on campus encouraging violence against Donald Trump supporters, calling it antithetical to free speech.
