Over the course of Jefferson’s life, he owned 700 slaves.
Some were inherited his fathers estate, 135 were inherited from his wife’s father’s estate. The balance he acquired. During his life time Jefferson freed 5 slave, and 5 more were freed by his will.
Thomas Jefferson has been dead for almost 200 years, I don’t think he cares or would care what some SJW thinks.

He owned them. He was legally able to free them, of which he freed 10. He could sell the slaves children or their husbands or their wives. He could decide if they would be punished or not punished for attempting escape. He could decide when a slave was to be put on their own time. You may not consider that ownership, but that kind of power normally does not come by renting.
Jefferson lived in the reality of his time.
And he died in heavy debt.
The reality of his situation just doesn’t support the narrative of the slaving owning rich entitled white guy the SJW’s are trying to paint.
Everyone lives in the reality of their own time. But the reason we so greatly honor Jefferson, was he understood truths that are timeless. Jefferson was truly a man for the ages! His detractors are either intentionally seeking to war on reality, or unable to accept reality for whatever reason.
