Kiah Lawson, a former boyfriend of prominent Portland real estate developer and political fundraiser Terry Bean was arrested last night in Portland. Lawson, 25, was arrested in connection with the same alleged crimes that prompted Portland police to arrest Bean yesterday: allegations of sodomy in the third degree and sexual abuse of a 15-year-old boy in Lane County last year. Inspectors say they found the bat feces this week in the area right above the ceiling of Ken Lawson's office. Lawson is secretary of the Department of Business and Professional Regulation. State legislators in the new state budget ordered that state workers leave the Tallahassee offices where the department is housed. Lawson Software Inc. laid off workers on Wednesday, but it's not clear how deep the cuts were or what part of the business was affected. Minnesota Public Radio posted news of the cuts; a spokesman called them an "expected outcome" of its acquisition earlier this summer. St. Paul-based Lawson recently was sold for $2 billion to GGC Software Holdings Inc. Cuts were indeed expected by some. When the sale was announced, an analyst told the Star Tribune that administration jobs at Lawson's St. Paul 800-person headquarters could be cut by 25 percent.
