Any Freepers who want to see a true believer in Liberty should support Dr BJ Lawson, running for Congress in the fourth district of my home state of NC. He is running against a 20 year incumbent, David Price, one of the most Liberal members of Congress.
Dr. Lawson is a true, committed believer in Liberty, who, for example, OUT OF HIS OWN POCKET rented out several movie theaters to show the recent film "IOUSA," having to do with the reckless and irresponsible spending in Congress. He is pro life, extremely vigilant on spending, and a proponent of forcing Congress to re do the procedures for attaching retainers to bills which have almost nothing to do with the original purpose of the bill (for example, the recent "bail out" bill was attached to some agricultural subsidy bill).
Here is a brief example of some of the issues he is pushing
1. The Read the Bills Act: Congress should read legislation before it votes on it. 2. The One Subject at a Time Act: Congress should limit legislation to one subject per bill. 3. The Write the Laws Act: Congress should write laws and be accountable for their results, and not delegate rulemaking authority to unelected bureaucrats and corporate lobbyists. 4. The Enumerated Powers Act: All legislation must specify the Constitutional authority upon which it is based.
Dr Lawson has purchased at his own expense at least 20,000 pocket sized copies of the Constitution. I picked up about 50 of them and put them in my office, and people snatched them up within two weeks. I am not a staffer, but I have worked a little for the campaign.
