Facebook has come under fire for a "barbaric use of technology" that allowed the sale of a child bride to be held on its site. An auction was held on the social media platform for a 16-year-old girl in South Sudan which sought payment for her hand in marriage. Facebook said the post was taken down as soon as the company learned of it, but that wasn't until after the girl was married. According to children's rights organization Plan International, the girl was bid on by five men, some of whom were reportedly high-ranking South Sudanese government officials. Saudi Arabia has executed an Indonesian maid who killed her employer during a rape attack, sparking outrage in Jakarta. Anti-gay attacks in France are 'just the tip of the iceberg' with many going unreported because victims fear they won't be listened too, claim activists. Figures from the French interior ministry show that at a national level, complaints of homophobic attacks have increased by 15 per cent since the beginning of 2018. However a report from rights group SOS Homophobie shows only four per cent of victims of homophobic insults file a complaint and the amount of physical attacks reported to them equates to 'one assault every three days', reports France 24.

Police in the Netherlands have arrested seven men over an alleged plot to carry out what they describe as a major terrorist attack involving guns and explosives. Police say the men were trying to source AK47s, hand grenades and bomb materials to carry out their attack. The men, aged between 21 and 34, were arrested on Thursday. Hundreds of teens identified as Somalis rampaged through the Valley Fair Amusement Park in Shakopee, Minnesota. It was the first night of the ValleyScare activities. Police said, “The number of individuals running throughout the park increased substantially and was difficult to control.” They had to shut the park down early as the numbers of teens in the mob grew to hundreds. A man who was arrested at a New Mexico compound where 11 children were found abused was training kids to commit school shootings, court documents revealed. Authorities raided the compound on Friday after a monthslong search investigating a 3-year-old boy's disappearance led them to the property, where the children were discovered hungry and living in squalor. On Monday, a child's remains were found on the property, but authorities were working on a positive identification.
