You hit the fast food drive-through a couple times a week, and your grocery cart is regularly filled with cookies, packaged doughnuts, ice cream, chips (and dip). But you’re thin. You run—a lot—and you’re not gaining any weight, so all’s good, right? Well, not exactly. Put down the chocolate cupcake and hear us out. While runners do tend to be much healthier than the general population, with lower rates of diabetes and heart disease, that’s largely due to a healthy diet rather than running regularly, says Sara Mahoney, Ph.D., chair of the department of exercise science at Bellarmine University. In...

While this country is embroiled in a shouting match over gun violence, Germany finds itself in an internal debate about the rise in knife violence. Unlike this country, though, many in Germany seem to be focused on finding the root cause and, hence, the solution. As The Local reports of Germany, "police statistics [show] that refugees and asylum seekers are significantly over-represented in violent crime statistics."Titled "String of knife attacks further fuels debate over refugees and violence," the article begins by listing a series of violent knife attacks. Almost all of the attacks were done by male teenage refugees....

The .22 Short was developed back in 1857 for Smith & Wesson revolver. Created for the metallic cartridge with a 29-30 grain bullet, pushed by 4 grains of black powder. This was mainly developed for self-defense, nowadays this cartridge has little penetration and knockdown power. So how low in caliber should one go before your personal defense firearm is too light? Youtuber mark3smle did some ballistic gelatin test with this .22 Short. Overall the .22 penetrated 4 inches through a pair of pants into the gelatin. mark3smle goes onto comparing a knife penetration could do the job as well. Theres...

As with many leftist writers in Europe and the United States, the author appears to glory in their ignorance of weapons and weapon technology. The short spear improvised from a kitchen knife, above, is not a “makeshift bayonet”. A bayonet is a blade that is to be attached to a firearm for use in hand to hand fighting. There is no firearm associated with the blade in the picture above. From walesonline.com: Police raided a home and found two loaded crossbows and a makeshift bayonet.Officers entered a house in Sandfields , Port Talbot on Saturday afternoon, following a complaint...

So much for the soft moderate blue wave of Democrats sweeping special elections these days. The real Democrats – the dinosaurs, the elitists, the detesters of deplorables, the Chicago politics-types, and the arrogant – are back, with none more obvious than Eric Holder, who offered this violent language for his political opponents. The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports: "We have to be ready to, you know, not do anything inappropriate, not do anything improper, certainly not do anything unlawful," he said. "But to the extent that they want to have a fight, let's do it. You want to rumble, let's rumble. You...

Even though a permit is not required to have one, I admit to not carrying a pocket knife until 2015. I had realized that I became part of a generational sea change on this item, which I now view as being much more than just a male accessory choice. It all started when I was at a Garden Center store looking for a trellis, but when I found one, it was bound to several others by nylon zip-ties. I knew I couldnÂ’t saw it free with my keys, so I started to look for some help. I soon saw an old...

Youtuber Skallagrim went out and tested this and the results were not good. Take a look.Just out of curiosity Skallagrim decides what if you only wear a thin long sleeve top with a rain...

Paul Jason Allen was involved in a verbal altercation on 19 May, 2017. He says three men in a truck drove past him while he was crossing a street at the intersection. They say he stood in the street and prevented them from passing, then yelled at them, including something about their mother. All agree the truck stopped, and the three men exited the vehicle. One of the men grabbed a rake from the truck and chased Allen. Somewhere in the process, Allen produced a knife. Three to one is clear disparity of force, so Allen could be justified...
