SNIP And that hell became reality for two California felines on Tuesday, when high flood waters left them stranded in trees half-submerged in the Sacramento River. The Front Street Animal Shelter created a ramp that would lead the cats to safety, but they refused to cross. SNIP

My little cat Kefira has been very sick for the past few days. She is losing muscle mass, developed a pot belly, and barely eats anything for the past couple of days. She spends her days just laying Sphynx like on the floor, upright like the Sphynx. She is drinking lots of water. Blood tests show normal except for an extremely elevated white count. This points to a likely lymphoma. Vet had extra blood tests done to identify any cells in blood. I am taking her back to the vet to discuss results of cell blood test. Chemotherapy is not...

A cat was reunited with its owner Friday after a harrowing 8-mile journey in which the feline was trapped in a vehicle's bumper, traveling just inches from the roadway in San Diego County. The 5-year-old lynx point Siamese cat had crawled inside the front end of a vehicle before an unsuspecting person went for a drive on Wednesday... The driver traveled about 8 miles, from the Santee to Grantville areas, before a bystander noticed the cat hanging headfirst out of the bumper, just inches from the ground. The bystander then flagged down the driver and used a crowbar to free...

Early, early a week ago, Valentine’s Day, Derick Orr’s cat was being a pain. At about 5 a.m., Baba jumped onto the Santa Rosan’s bed and pawed, even nipped at him. “It was unlike any other time, ever,†Derick said. His wife, Carol, had gotten up to rid herself of the hiccups and he was trying to catch a few more winks before church. But Baba, a 6-year-old orange tabby, kept hopping onto the bed, needling him, then leaving the room, then returning to pester him more. At last, exasperated by the suddenly annoying and insistent cat, Derick got up....

A Muslim pilgrim was seen on camera giving water to a thirsty cat which stood at a stone seat licking the water from the man’s hands without any fear. A YouTube film showed the man, who is performing Umrah (mini pilgrimage), cupped his hands and filled them with tap water before giving it to the cat. 'Ajel' newspaper said the film was shot at the Grand Mosque in the Western town of Makkah, the world’s largest mosque.

Monday, February 01, 2016 11:21AM BISMARK, ND -- It's a truth that cats don't always come back, but what if they come back, but the owner is gone? The Connell family have lived happily in North Dakota since 2013, but a member of their family is missing: Hemi, their cat. Robert Connell saved Hemi in 2009, when he found the cat on his engine block in North Carolina. But when the Marine and his family moved to a military base, Hemi was believed lost. So naturally, the cat went looking. "I was a little nervous about him not coming...

Why one determined feline enthusiast has embarked on a quixotic journey to determine which basketball players own--or would consider owning--a pet cat. An otherwise ordinary basketball fan named Alex recognized someone walking into a recent Chicago Bulls game and thought: Wait, is that Dikembe Mutombo? Then something else occurred to him. "I thought about running after him and asking about cats," he said. "I'm really regretting that I didn't." Alex is a 34-year-old radio producer who enjoys cooking, gardening and meditation. He's also the anonymous owner of a website that, somehow, has become a cult hit in basketball circles. It's...

Last month, a letter from Ayn Rand to “Cat Fancy†magazine was unearthed in which Rand argued she could “demonstrate objectively that cats are of a great value.†I think Rand is onto something- cats are the ultimate laissez faire animals. I would go as far as to say we should replace all politicians with cats. Lest you think this is a ludicrous suggestion, I would direct you to a strong body of historical precedent for non-human electoral candidates, including Morris the Cat, who ran for president in 1992. 1. Our system of checks and balances is totally out of whack....

SAN JOSE, Calif. — Spock the cat is suffering from a case of mistaken identity. Spock’s owner wants her neighbors to know that he really is just a lovable and mischievous domestic cat, and not a bobcat or other wild animal. Collen Pizarev told the San Jose Mercury News that a neighbor accused her of harboring a bobcat, after seeing her 27-pound, 46-inch Maine Coon peering out the window. Another neighbor mistook the massive cat for a lynx.

Ignore the thread link. It only goes to the FR Index page. Got some bad news today. JRandomFreeper has passed away, and that coupled with a good friend and neighbor suddenly passing away last October, I am in need of some relief for the depression this news has brought about. So, in an effort to dispel the gloom and provide an atmosphere for others to take their minds off of the loss of a good FReeper, I present this Oldie-but-Moldy concept. Hope it brings a smile here and there despite the tears. So: === Cats are better than women because:...

This is to such a great extent that the city has come to be known by some as 'Catstantinople'. While they may be pleasant to look at, the cats don't always have a saucer of food and a warm place to sleep. A kind Imam has decided to remedy this by opening up his mosque to the stray cats and kittens, so they can eat and safely rest their heads away from the perils of the outdoors. Imam Mustafa Efe calls the cats "guests" of the mosque, and they've made themselves quite at home. They sit down on the plush...

REDWOOD CITY (CBS-SF) - An eight-week-old kitten that was dyed purple and badly injured when it was dropped off at the San Jose Animal Shelter earlier this week was on the road to recovery Thursday, according to the chief veterinarian of the 9 Lives Foundation. Veterinarian Monica Rudiger told the Bay Area Newspaper Group that the wounds the kitten - nicknamed Smurf -was suffering from led her to believe it had been used as 'bait' for a large animal, possibly a dog. "I've seen a lot of animals used as bait for other animals, it looks to me like he...
