An initiative to rename roads in Northern Virginia is the kind of wasteful, worthless bureaucratic radicalism that Glenn Youngkin and the Republicans campaigned against in the commonwealth.The irony could not have been richer. A few days after Glenn Youngkin won his surprise gubernatorial victory in Virginia campaigning on a repudiation of government radicalism and incompetence, I received a piece of mail from the government of Fairfax County on behalf of the “Confederate Names Task Force.” Written in English, Spanish, and Korean, the notice asks: “Should Lee Highway (Route 29) and Lee-Jackson Memorial Highway (Route 50) in Fairfax County be renamed?”...

A Richmond, Virginia, elementary school will switch its name from that of a Confederate general to that of the nation's first black President. On Monday, the Richmond school board voted to rename J.E.B. Stuart Elementary as Barack Obama Elementary School. WASHINGTON — Fairfax County Public Schools, the largest public school system in the D.C. region, is asking for financial donations to help cover the substantial costs associated with renaming J.E.B. Stuart High School in Falls Church, Virginia. Following a vote to rename the school last week, county officials set up a website, asking people to send in money. James Ewell Brown Stuart (1833-1864) Known as "Jeb," Stuart was probably the most famous cavalryman of the Civil War. A Virginia-born West Pointer (1854), Stuart was already a veteran of Indian fighting on the plains and of Bleeding Kansas when, as a first lieutenant in the 1st Cavalry, he carried orders for Robert E.
