A man convicted of kidnapping a Wisconsin girl and killing her parents told police after his arrest that he never thought Jayme Closs would escape because she was petrified, and that after holding her captive for two weeks, he believed he’d get away with his crimes, according to a transcript of a police interview... While Patterson took measures to conceal his identity when he broke into the Closs home, it was clear he didn’t think ahead to what he would do in the long term. He said he acted “pretty impulsive-ish” saying he thought he’d get a job, rent and...

A Wisconsin judge ruled on Friday that the man who admitted to slaying the parents of 13-year-old Jayme Closs before abducting and holding her captive for 88 days will spend the rest of his life serving two life terms in prison without parole, according to the New York Times and Associated Press. In late March, Jake Thomas Patterson, 21, of Gordon, Wisconsin, pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree intentional homicide and one kidnapping. This was just five months after authorities discovered Jayme’s parents, James and Denise Closs, shot to death in the family’s Barron, Wisconsin, home, and realized the...

Of all the coverups and lies Jake Patterson told the world in the past few months, one stands out as especially cruel. He held a Christmas Day gathering for family members at "Patterson Retreat," the former family home that Patterson is accused of turning into a prison for 13-year-old Jayme Closs. While the family marked the holiday, the houseguests had no idea that another person was there — the terrified girl Patterson was holding captive, forced to stay hidden under a twin bed, sources told reporters for the USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin. Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald wouldn't confirm the Christmas...

GORDON, Wisconsin – The man accused of kidnapping Jayme Closs and killing her parents in October had "absolutely" no contact with the family before the brutal slayings, her aunt told Fox News, as the first glimpse of the home where the teenager was allegedly held for months was revealed on Sunday. Authorities in northern Wisconsin removed the barricade blocking the house in rural Gordon on Sunday morning, where authorities say brave 13-year-old Jayme Closs escaped captivity last Thursday. Investigators had closed off the entire neighborhood for days as they carefully gathered evidence inside the home of Jayme’s suspected captor, 21-year-old...

It’s been 25 days since Jayme Closs disappeared, and her parents were killed... They are focused on forensic testing. For the last week, Wisconsin’s crime lab has tested 40 pieces of potential evidence a day. “As of now we just don’t have any good physical evidence either which is another frustrating part of this case,” Sheriff Fitzgerald said. That includes already 80 pieces of separate videos or pictures from homes and businesses along Highway 8 from that night. Investigators have also kept a close eye on social media. As Facebook groups pop up, Fitzgerald says investigators check every post.
