Over the weekend, MSNBC's AM Joy show demonstrated its inability to engage in sober criticism of President Donald Trump rather than descending into over the top hyperbole as two frequent guests of the show likened Trump supporters to Nazis and KKK members. Comedian Dean Obeidallah claimed that the word "Trump" is becoming a "modern-day swastika," MSNBC contributor Jason Johnson saw a "modern-day lynching" of Ilhan Omar and her "Squad" colleagues, and The Beat D.C's Tiffany Cross declared that a MAGA hat is equivalent to a "Nazi symbol" or "Klan hood."

In light of President Trump’s recent tweets and rallies, the liberal media has decided it is time to take the rhetoric up a notch. No longer is Trump any old racist, he has now earned himself the title of ‘white nationalist’. Filling in for host Lawrence O’Donnell, Joy Reid made sure to make this distinction on Friday night’s episode of The Last Word. She began:

Appearing as a panel member on Sunday's AM Joy, liberal MSNBC contributor Jason Johnson spewed vitriol at several Donald Trump administration members as he called for the President's impeachment, declared that Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin had essentially been pushed to say "I hate black people," and that HUD Secetary Ben Carson was exposed to be a "sexist fool." MSNBC contributor Jason Johnson accused President Trump of racism Wednesday night in his analysis of Trump's reaction to the alleged murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi at the hands of agents of the Saudi government. For good measure, Johnson has suggested that Trump is an admirer of murderers. Appearing on Ari Melber's MSNBC show The Beat, Johnson imagined President Trump stating that, concerning Khashoggi: "I don't care, it was a brown journalist."

Has there ever been a TV host who scolds, reprimands and even shuts down guests as often as does Joy Reid? Reid was at it again on her MSNBC show this morning. This time, the target of her ire was Jason Johnson, former chief strategist to Sen. Ted Cruz.
