What a difference a week makes! Last Sunday on AM Joy, Roots editor and MSNBC contributor Jason Johnson accused Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam of "arrogance" for refusing to resign. Johnson railed: "He caused this problem on his own, and the best way to save his party would be for him to leave."
But now that scandals have engulfed Virginia's Democratic Lieutenant Governor and Attorney General, Johnson has changed his tune. On Reid's show today, Johnson advised Dems to "back off" any resignation or impeachment talk, because the result could be to elevate a Republican to the governorship. Johnson never acknowledged that a scant week ago, he was part of the liberal chorus calling on Northam to walk the plank.

A week ago, this guy was part of Joy Reid’s pack calling on Northam to walk the plank. Now that doing so could lead to a Republican becoming governor, he’s changed his tune, advising Dems to “back off” any resignation talk. And he doesn’t even have the integrity to acknowledge his fast about-face.

These people really aren't very smart. Their virtual reality hold over the MSM is making them feel OK being more open about it though, so that's progress of a sort.

Virginia is just to important to Democrats for 2020 to allow Repubs to take control of it over this, therefore racism absolution waivers can be granted.
Are these also okay if the person is a Democrat leader and a Republican is next in line?

There it, folks. Dems have given themselves a permanent pass to abuse and malfeasance because to punish themselves for it would be to give an advantage to political opponents.

I’ve said from the beginning that this guy should stay in office for two reasons.
1. If he gets kicked out for a goofy yearbook photo from 40 years ago that opens the door for the dems to do it to every Republican who ever runs for office. We all have done stupid stuff in the past that was probably acceptable at the time.
2. This greatly weakens the governor and will help the Republicans in the future.
Racism and sexual assault absolution waivers, most likely.
So ethical standards take a second place to political power for the Dems? We already knew that, but it is refreshing to have them admit it openly.

When the story broke, I said Northam had “Democrat Privilege” and probably wouldn’t resign. That’s just how the double standard works these days.
