Fearing a loss of millions of dollars for defying immigration authorities, Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez on Thursday ordered county jails to comply with federal immigration detention requests — effectively gutting the county’s position as a “sanctuary” for immigrants in the country illegally. Gimenez cited an executive order signed Wednesday by President Donald Trump that threatened to cut federal grants for any counties or cities that don’t cooperate fully with Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Since 2013, Miami-Dade has refused to indefinitely detain inmates who are in the country illegally and wanted by ICE — not based on principle, but because the...

A North Carolina judge sentenced a Green Beret veteran to spend a night in jail. But when he remembered his own story and all he had gone through, he couldn't just let him spend the night alone. Judge Lou Olivera, a Gulf War veteran, is a district court judge over the Veterans Treatment Court in Cumberland County, North Carolina. He had to sentence Green Beret Joe Serna to one night in jail for a probation violation. Serna, a recipient of three Purple Hearts, is retired from the military and is having a hard time adjusting back to life after experiencing...

In a last ditch effort to free their son, the parents of First Lieutenant Clint Lorance have created a video plea asking President Obama for a presidential pardon. The heartbreaking four-minute video features Anna and Tracy Lorance explaining the character of their son and why he deserves to walk free. Lieutenant Lorance was convicted of murder and sentenced to 20 years in prison for ordering his men engage three military aged males riding a motorcycle speeding towards his patrol in Kandahar, Afghanistan in July of 2012.

A Florida woman was arrested Monday after she opened fire on her house guests, whom she believed had overstayed their welcome, deputies said. Alana Savell, 32, was booked into a panhandle jail on a charge of aggravated battery with a firearm. Savell told deputies that the woman and her friend had come over to hang out, began drinking and were “getting too loud.” Savell said she didn’t want them in her house anymore, so she started shooting at their feet. That sounds sane and reasonable… says no one ever. Investigators said Savell’s boyfriend told them he has instructed her that...

Russian state-owned media does little to hide its preferences in the U.S. presidential election. News reports about the race for the White House on Russian television devote most of their time to elaborating on Donald Trump’s allegations that Hillary Clinton is corrupt and the election is rigged. On his Sunday program, pro-Kremlin journalist Dmitry Kiselyov said, "Clinton has a choice. Either she gets the presidency or she goes behind bars." Kiselyov also told viewers that Clinton is backed by US security services and the media - unlike "anti-establishment" Trump. State-controlled Kremlin TV channels also highlight concerns about Clinton's health and...

As much as it is justified, Hillary Rodham Clinton will never see the inside of a jail cell It sounds good. Thousands of adoring Trump supporters chanting “lock her up” whenever the name of Hillary Clinton is mentioned. But it is unlikely to ever happen. Especially for crimes she might have committed prior to the election. There can be little doubt should Clinton become the next president of the United States, she will be pardoned by Barack Obama prior to his leaving office on Jan. 20. The stage is actually being set for the justification for the issuance of a...

Originally I only had the TRUMP sign posted in front of my business, within 2 hours of the sign being placed out front we received a voice mail from a blocked phone number which is played during the video. I will not be bullied into removing the TRUMP sign simply because it offended someone. My Country is just as important as my business, I will assume that the sign was too large and too high for her to destroy or steal. The voicemail was what prompted me to make the sign more noticeable and take an even more dramatic approach...

Following the FBI’s resurrection of Hillary Clinton’s e-mail affair, the Democratic leadership, suddenly, less than a week before the presidential election, faces the previously almost inconceivable possibility of a Trump victory and, therefore, of a Trump presidency. This appears particularly ironic because during the Republican primaries, the Clinton team had literally prayed for the opportunity to run against Trump. Since they considered Trump the weakest Republican opponent, they, indeed, actively encouraged their media minions to favor Trump’s bid for the Republican nomination. But once he won, something rather unexpected happened: True to his claim of being a political outsider, Trump...

Hillary can continue in her telling silence because America will answer that question for her, depending completely upon which way this election takes us The second presidential debate pushed these two thoughts into the front of my brain: First, why are the moderators always allowed to be so egregiously, unapologetically, shamelessly biased against Mr. Trump? And, secondly, and this is not supposed to be funny - indeed, it is no laughing matter - why didn’t Hillary do her part of the debate dressed in orange and in a concrete and steel cell - pacing back and forth under an observation...

When Donald Trump threatens to lock up Hillary Clinton if he were president, he's merely "channeling the frustrations of millions of Americans" — and doesn't ultimately have that power, his campaign manager suggested Wednesday. "It wouldn't be up to him whether or not she goes to jail. That would have to be fully adjudicated through the regular channels like it would be for anyone else," Kellyanne Conway said on ABC's "Good Morning America."

Smackdown: Trump showed up, kept things together, and delivered all the right punches Unless you’re hopelessly biased - or insane - you know Donald Trump cleaned Hillary’s clock last night. I know, there are a few polls (like a ludicrous CNN offering) that show Hillary as the victor, but any reasonable person who actually sat through the debate saw how it went down. Trump showed up, kept things together, and delivered all the right punches. We’ll have more on the debate (and yes, “the tape”) throughout the day, but I thought I’d kick things off with the moment that will...

The Pu$$y Posse was a riderless horse last night, but make no mistake about it. Whipping up offended sensibilities from all mucky corners, they will be floating other contrived Trump ‘scandals’—starting today “If you don’t vote for me, I still want too be your president”. That’’s the line from Hillary Clinton from last night’s second presidential debate that should send chills down the backs of Barack Obama-trapped Americans. “So first and foremost, I will do everything I can to reach out to everybody. Democrats, Republicans, independents, people across our country. If you don’t vote for me, I still want to...

Donald Trump stated during Sunday's presidential town hall that if he wins the election, he will instruct the Attorney General to open a special investigation into Hillary Clinton's personal email server. [Snip] "There has never been so many lies, so much deception. There has never been anything like it and we’re going to have a special prosecutor." "The people of this country are furious," Trump claimed before detailing the FBI's scandal-ridden investigation into Clinton's email practices. "People, their lives have been destroyed for doing one-fifth of what you've done, and it's a disgrace. You ought to be ashamed of yourself."...

There is no way to sugarcoat this: At Sunday night’s presidential debate, Donald Trump threatened to throw Hillary Clinton in jail if he wins the presidency. This — threatening to jail one’s political opponents — is how democratic norms die. The exchange happened during a discussion of the controversy over Hillary Clinton’s private email server. Trump began by decrying Clinton’s conduct — which, according to the FBI, was quite bad but not illegal. He then proposed appointing a special prosecutor to investigate her, and warned Clinton that, if he were president now, “you’d be in jail”: TRUMP: I'll tell you...
